I suspect that this dimension is a character generator, a place to sort it out and learn how to carry forth. Not as a species of animal I hope, that would be hell.

The northerners invented religion out of fear, freezing and hunger, in their new environment they couldn't imagine watching the sun leave and no matter what inane act they came up with to entice the suns return worked and the sun returned.

Thank god we did go north. Have you seen the state Africa is in now? Theyre being decimated by aids and famine. So now those stupid people who went north have to send money to save the smart Africans who stayed behind.
