I'm glad the description says that Robinson was the first black major leaguer in the 20th century, because he wasn't the first black major leaguer. Moses "Fleetwood" Walker played for Toledo in 1894. Walker was the first black major leaguer.

this story makes me cry and that takes alot but what makes me cry is that without Jackie he would have never gave blacks the courage and the will to break the color barrier in hockey by wille o'ree without him i would never met some of my greatest friends in hockey who were black im only 20 and playing jrs im proud to say i play on a line with a blackman boy how different it would have been without jackie's integrity and prevail all what the hatemongers through at him a true legend
I'm looking for a movie about a black man, I think he was an athlete, but he ruined his life because of his addiction to drugs..I remember there's a scene where he returns home(clean) to the mother of his child who he had abandoned and the kid wanted some cheetos or something and the mother kept saying no, so he told her to give the kid cheetos and the mother went off on him telling him that he had no right to tell her nothing about their child or something..please help me i know this is random!
Thank you for sharing your experience Jackie Robinson. Thank you for suceeding even when your "fans" where actually racists and making it hard for you! You inspire me!
I kind of figured you would get some idiot on here who would post a stupid comment. It was called the negro leagues you backwoods idiot, and get out of your time machine and step into the modern era, it's not 1930 anymore or 1960's Mississippi neither, so stop asking stupid questions, I direct this towards killer0in0training, get a life idiot.
it was called the nigger leagues right? i really dont know much about baseball but unfortunetaly thats what they called it right? the nigger leagues they called it because jackie was a colored nigger right?
@killer0in0training no it was called the cracker leagues right the cracker leagues i dont knoe much bout baseball but they called it the cracker leagues cause babe ruth was a uncolored cracker right? stfu u racist piece of shit i hope nd pray people like u diie evryday
@udo987 i admired his personality. i don't like baseball but i like JACKIE ROBINSON & wish all NEW YORK sports teams to win championships. in the j.r. story movie i felt so bad how he was mistreated especially in the diner by the owner. i miss him & a sad shame he died too early.
All Jackie wanted to do Play baseball and Get rights that he deserves..He was a good man, and he was polite to others. He also maybe did wrong a couple times but it was good he didn't end up like some people like Barry Bonds and doing Steroids. But all African-American citizens just wanted rights to anything the Caucasions could do.
I have a lot of respect for Branch Rickey and some of the players in the Dodgers for giving Robinson a chance..they looked past his skin color and they saw how athletic and talented he was....It is great to see different races coming together to do something positive. Even if there are doubters and naysayers!!
It's people like Moses Fleetwood "Fleet" Walker (the first afro american to play in the major leagues) and Jackie Robinson (the first modern day afro american to play in the major leagues) that take a big leap of faith for their race and other cultures to succeed in a white dominated sport..if it was not for them there would not be a colored player in major league baseball!
@T5YFM yes it was. JACKIE ROBINSON as i can see was a very cool guy. thank goodness there were no fights in the movie. a scene where a couple of bullies confronted JACKIE & his wife outside the stadium, just glad a teammate saved them from harm. i passed by J. Robinson's old neighborhood on Tilden Ave. in Brooklyn recently. there aren't any residential houses there anymore. lots have changed. it was better back then.
jackie turned an animal ( RACIST) to a human being. well done jackie.
