I also agree that irrational faith leads to irrational behaviour. This is especially the case when you deal with fundamentalists. Their ignorance is astounding, to say the least.
I, personally, went to school in a Catholic highschool, but I'm an Agnostic now.

What scientology does is much more sophisticated method of mind control well above any other religion. In most cases it is not the church but church off groups that are a problem, like David Koresh's form of christianity. However there is a big distinction between a religion and a dangerous cult. Most religions such as catholics have done atrocities in the past such as burning people and so yes, we are stopping the same things happening.
