  • Yeah, you cannot teach religion in school without disrespecting and offending people of other religions or no religion at all (atheism). Now, don't start preachin respect as you disrespect, or being offended without offending. You would be (and in my opinion are) a hypocrite.

  • I would sue the school and contact FFRF.

  • religion=lunacy.

  • BAN GOD FROM AMERICA NOW!!!

  • Well alittle bit of God being taught might be better than the beevis and butthead, jackass teaching that they evidently get at home. ITs called a well rounded education. Dont fire the teacher, fire the parents.

  • @gerty335 who's teaching beavis and butthead and/or jackass? pretty judgemental of you. we don't even have tv! lol. teaching about a god in a public school is not a well rounded education. if you want genuine well roundedness, which i suspect you don't you only want to further your xtian agenda, then teach ALL religions, from wiccan, to islam to the cults.

  • @tallooly2007 I'm sure that the new age cult followers will always get the upper hand in the modern world today, so dont panic, the liberal agenda is getting their way right now.

Unfortunately instead of teaching kids to actually read, write , and have a drive thru understanding of mathmatics, the kids graduating american high schools today are illiterate, incompetent to enter the real world, so beviss and butthead is an accurate discription of out educational system today.

  • @gerty335 subjective topics are to be learned at home. so if you fire the parents, who's to teach them? oh wait, you'd rather the schools do it, so you can slip in your own nonsense, right?

  • I hope that teacher got fired.

  • You can't teach history without getting into religion. However, your daughter should be educated about all religions and the cultures. Everything from ceremonies to the types of food they eat.

I agree it shouldn't be shoved down her throat, but a lot of that stuff can be very interesting, if you teach it in the right way... which I don't think Mr. Lawson was doing...

  • yes, i agree 100%. after all, religion has a very interesting history!

  • Keep opinions out of the classroom. You can do whatever you'd like under your own roof, but keep the brainwashing to yourselves, respectfully.

  • i concur 110 percent!

  • Keep fairytails out of school corriculem.

  • I had to learn about Judaism in World History, but not that the Bible taught an accurate account of history. Rather, learn about the religion and how it shaped the culture of that part of the world. To me, that was not out of line with the ESTABLISHMENT CLAUSE because we also learned about Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism in the same context (how it shaped the culture of that part of the world). However, this is an example where a line is crossed.

  • The Bible says the word will be under one world order. What are they trying to do right now? Bible says Russia (Bible's reference of it) will lead the march on Israel (keeping up with the news lately)? The Bible says all nations will rise against Israel (again in the these days). Jesus said they will hate you just as they've hated me (Christians) now see that every day. You see all of this going on right now. There isn't enough room here to tell you everything the Bible sayd about that either.

  • you are absolutely nuts. no offense, but if you swallow that, then i have some swampland to sell you. you take an antiquated book, written by many over many years and read what you what to interpret out of it. santa clause has a better story than that. i notice, too, you say "bible's reference" of russia. as always, nothing factual, just whatever you want to read out of it.

  • Even if you want to deny it all, even if man wrote the bible(and you feel you shouldn't take that ser.) Isn't all that was predicted happening now? I thought so, stop trying to be some radical bastard, wanting to show how eccentric or different they are,it won't work. Half the slothbrains that comment have no experience in life, they just quote and gibber about shit that isn't even relevant to most topics. But the 18-Wheeler won't let em' just do it. I'm gonna xpose em' for their fraudulant BS..

  • Shelby comes home and tells me the world history text is the bible and she has to memorize and be tested on it. BS?

It sounds like you the parents are the ones who have a problem with religion. I'll take that a step more. I know you're the ones who have a problem with it. Your daughter didn't seem to have a problem with it. I know you'd say there is no God or Heaven. But wouldn't you want your daughters to go to heaven? Think about that.

  • no i would not want them to go to heaven for the price they pay for it. religion is a bad thing. bad. that simple.

  • "ok this meens im gona have to be a fucking bitch and go to school and say that religion is a lie because im a fat whore and i wana get attention because we dont belive in god so we thing everyone els should not belive in god to" you know its people like you who ruin america its people like you that are the reason i wear religious things to school every day so if you think that its that wrong to have religion in school then why dont you homeschool your daughter

  • moi ha ha! you are right! thank god the atheists are taking over!!!!

  • You have a problem with teaching religion in school because? What exactly are you afraid of? Why don't you allow your children to decide for them selves? You say God isn't real, but there's no opportunity for your children to decide? Our freedom of speech is there for a reason but you want to remove it? Your children have the right to say they don't want to participate if they feel that way. Did you ever think of that? Remember rights aren't for a minority. The rights are for everyone.

  • they have ample opportunity to see the ridiculousness of religion. they see and hear it everyday from people like you. i support your right to beleive in fantasy but leave my children out of it. the whole point of forefathers leaving it out was because it is opinion, not fact. and if you teach opinions in public school you'd better teach them all. islam, buddhist, satanist, wiccan, all of them.

  • You're wrong about our forefathers leaving Religion out. As a fact what did they say? We are endowed by our creator. Were they thinking of Islam wiccan or what every? The answer is no. Church is protected by our constitution it's not the other way around. So it don't mean they excluded Religion. It means Churches are protected. Say what you want but Religion is a fact not fiction. I know it to be a fact personally. There is a God and you're making a huge mistake but don't listen to me.

  • it's called separation of chuch and state. we are bound, happily, by rights of all, including the nutjobs, but it is separate from the political arena. i'm glad you find whatever makes you happy but don't push it on others. religion will be a thing of the past in a few more lifetimes. hallebejulia!

  • Right but separation of Chruch and state is only to keep the state from taxing or interfering with the Church. You say Religion is non sense. And I'm sure you think Jesus Christ was a fake. Tell me something then. If it was like you say. How is it then everything Jesus said would happen more than 2500 years ago HAS happened within the last 60 years? Nothing and I'm talking about NOTHING WRITTEN in the Bible has missed once. How could that be. You tell me? You're making a huge mistake.

  • no it's not. separation of church and state is to keep church private because you cannot endorse one without endorsing the other (buddhism, catholic, whatever) and be fair and impartial. as far as the bible being accurate... oh my, i need more space than i have here to debate that. no, i'm not making a mistake, i am ahead of my time by being a rationalist. religion will go the way of mythology in a few hundred years.

  • Well you must not have been keeping your eye on the middle east then. Most everything the Bible said would happen (prophecy) has done so. The Bible has been 100% accurate and has never missed once. Just as the Bible pointed out Israel was reborn in 1948. And as the Bible said this generation who sees this will not pass away before Jesus returns. That means your children for sure and probably you as well will be living at that time. It's all there I'm not making that up. Cont - -

  • that is totally ridiculous. i have such pity for people who waste precious life that is so short on fantasy. a few thousand years ago you would have been worshipping the sun and reading animal entrails. don't be so gullible.

  • Regardless if you find it ridiculous or not it's happening just as the Bible said. You can't deny those things are really happening. And that's exactly what Jesus Christ told us would happen more than 2500 years ago. With your belief you must admin if it's something so made up as you say it's 100% accurate.

  • the jews were givven some land (israel) in 48 by therest of theworld becousethey were considered unwanted in morst countrys.

so farsogodbut thefirst thing they stared to do after the genocide of ww2 ... wasa still onging genocide against the palestinians..

besides that... your bible was put toghether way after the live of your so called messiah.

the only thing sertain about mostreligions is this : they lead to war, discrimination and unequality

  • if you get that angry because she doesnt want her kids learning something that is so far, based COMPLETELY on faith, then you should homeschool your self. what if you had kids, and you sent them off to school, and they come home saying that they have to memorize a bunch of things from the religion of scientology, muslim or hindu, would you say... "oh stop your bitching and go to school"? its religious nutjobs like you who ruin america. there is a reason they have seperation of church and state.

  • and it's "people like you" who help us keep our sanity and reasonability because we see the madness you are.

  • You should probably check your state's educational code on this one. As long as Lawson was studying the Bible as a historical document he is not doing anything illegal.

  • we need to study the koran as a historical document too, oh wait, how about the satanic bible too?

  • I see nothing wrong with that, so long as it's taught as fiction.

  • i wouldnt mind seeing that in my Lit. class next week. "todays curriculum is fiction reading from the bible"

  • I think religions should be taught in school only when it's being taught with the culture it's from, not as if they are inforcing it.

  • Holy shit! I'm lucky enough to work 5 mins from the rosetta stone in London. It has a facinating history and makes great material in history class. I've read the extended texts there, and there is no mention of the bible whatsoever. Mr. Lawson is perturbing this ladies children by passing on his opinion as fact in a school and portraying a non existant relationship.

  • really? any good websites for accuracy? i'd love her to know the truth about historical artifacts. i don't know much myself on this one.

  • They should teach religionS in school. If kids were made aware of all the different deities and "one true gods" that have "appeared" and "disappeared" throughout Mankind's History, it would be a great step made towards a more skeptic , inquisitive future...

  • college would be a better arena i think.

  • When they get in College, the damage is already done...

I went to a Catholic school ( in Belgium ). We had a "religion" class where we would learn about the adventures of "Jesus" but we were not told to think of those as litteral accounts but rather metaphores for "life lessons" which I guess wasn't all that bad. We were also introduced to other faith. I guess I got lucky; nothing was ever forced on us. And I was taught by priests :)

  • no damage unless it's been forced in childhood. i went to catholic school too and it was nothing like you describe! (in georgia, USA)

  • Belgium is a much more secular country ( in practice) that the states.

It does change however since christians here see what is accepted out of the muslim community in the name of "tolerance and respect". So now even christians are getting bolder and bolder in their religious rants.

  • Yeah, I live in KY and there's lots of brainwashing going on in our schools. It's child abuse.

  • Yeah, I agree. College.

  • That's a little wacky. I went to a Catholic school until my ninth year. The nuns (NUNS!!!) told us the Bible is metaphoric, if we don't believe evolution we're fools, and taught that education in real science and real history were vital to our future. We did attend weekly mass (it was a Catholic school) but we were never tested on religion. It's insane that PUBLIC schools are becoming more religious than my private school was.

  • i agree on the insanity. it's rather pathetically desperate.

  • This is heartbreaking.... Move here to Scotland! My science teacher basically told us intelligent design is a load of crap and no one cared... in fact I don't think there were more than 2 or 3 religious people in the whole of my year and even then they were very moderate.

  • that's VERY good to hear. gives me hope. :-)

  • who the fuck is teaching the bible in world history

  • HAHAHAHAHAHA

The Rosetta Stone has absolutely NOTHING to do with Hebrew or the Bible. Screw off Mr. Lawson

  • Pleeeaase tell me that a big stink was raised. That's rediculous and disturbing.

  • a little bit. but not enough and i suspect now that she has moved on it will continue with others.

  • wow! That is disturbing. Forget whether or not the teacher is acting legally for a moment. He is just plain wrong. The Pentateuch has some parallels to middle east history, but ffs!

The Rosetta stone had Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics, with the content repeated in Greek. Hence the ability to translate the glyphs to something we already knew. This has nothing to do with the bible directly and it is a measure of how much that teacher is ruining your child's mind that the confusion is so manifest.

  • wow. see i didn't even know that much about it and hadn't researched yet but knew it did NOT belong in school esp. with the religious slant.

  • That bullshit about the rosetta stone wouldn't even fly in religious education class.

  • Keep up the good fight for a viable and concrete education for your children! Your guidance and interpretation is vital to their educational success. No matter what they are exposed to, if you are there to help them through the murkiness of what is factual and what is spin they will be better prepared to not only survive but thrive in our modern society. So far I think your right on track! Be diligent and remember to always keep your sense of humor about these matters it will help you cope :)

  • thanks for that validation.

  • You're quite welcome. Good luck and may you and your family find success and harmony in your endeavors. :)

  • I believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinions and belief system. However I challenge them to not be hypocrites if they do not believe in evolution then don't reap the benefits from this theory.Modern medicine is entirely based on evolutionary theory's utility and evidence if they don't believe in the scientific method then they need to back it up with action, don't seek modern medical attention for your ailment instead pray to Jesus to heal you and see how that works. :-)

  • I've always been amused at the fact that the bible is not classified as fiction or nonfiction in the library system, it's just simply the bible:)The biggest difference between science and religion is that science is based on evidence, much like that which would be presented in a court case, and religion is based on faith in supernatural forces. We do not use religion to prove whether or not a murderer is guilty we use science. Same with medicine doctors do not say demons have caused your illness.

  • If elementary and high school fail to properly equip our children with good math, reading, and writing skills because they're concerned with a religious agenda than they have done the children and the tax payers a great disservice. The funny thing about your daughter's assignment (to read the first five books of the old test.) is that these books were written by Moses who was supposedly raised in the house of Pharaoh and the stories told there are just spin-offs from Egyptian myths like Horus.

  • yes i've read a lot of mythology, a lot is recycled stories.

  • Horse+donkey=mule *except in very rare cases mules are sterile=two different species dog+wolf=hybrid wolf which is capable of breeding with a dog, a wolf, or another hybrid = not two different species, in other words, dogs are still wolves and have not evolved (although they come in a large variety of shapes and sizes) into another species they're just wolves in different clothing :)

  • nice explanation, thanks. i'm so glad so many smart people are commenting and explaining things. i have a grasp of it but cannot convey things in a simplistic manner. if that makes sense. i do not claim to know the ins and outs of it all but i do know that religion of any kind makes the LEAST sense to me and i think it's harmful to believe in untruths.

  • Your welcome.I was reading some more of the comments here and I must say that some of them are quite entertaining. You see I'm a dual chemistry and biochemistry/biophysics major at Oregon State(and a minor in biology)and I also grew up on a ranch with many animals both wild and domestic, then I trained Thoroughbred racehorses for about 10 years,I was also raised Catholic, so I got to go to Catholic school too, so I have a very good understanding of both the science and the religious perspectives.

  • Just FYI a species is group of interbreeding organisms capable of producing fertile offspring. The controversy surrounding this definition went on for many years due to examples such as horses breeding with donkeys and dogs breeding with wolves.

  • I know I am sorry my spelling sucks

  • Just like the study of the human body consist of different part so does evolution. This was a very poor metefore. If you took away abiogenesis, geology, chemestry ect. you would not have the theory. Just as if you took away the specilization of each body part you would not have anotomy.

  • that doesn't make sense to me. no offense, but really you should use spell checker more often. are you saying "speciation" or "specialization"? or "anatomy" or "autonomy"? it makes a difference in how one tries to interpret your thoughts.

  • tallooly, This is way off subject. I was watching some of your videos and wanted to let you know that your daughter has talent. Her guitar playing needs a little work, but thats nothing time can't fix, but her singing and ability to compose is right on. I also like the video series on your oldest dauters engagment. I have to say I was became addicted to some of your story lines.

  • thank you. i like to consider it pretty eclectic. (versus eccentric, ha)

  • Klam, so are you saying that abiogenesis has nothing to do with the theory of evolution?

  • Abiogenesis is a different field than evolution. It is not that the two have nothing to do with one another, but rather that they cover totally different ideas. Kind of like a podiatrist and a cardiologist, their fields are very different but they are still connected tenuously.

If you want to talk about evolution, don't bring abiogenesis into it, Evolution does not discuss how life came about.

  • you cannot simplify so easily. the greatest thing i learned in all my collegiate life, is that i know very little. however, education gave me the tools for understanding more, deduction, etc. not simply accepting things taught to me out of fear of the unknown.

  • have animals ever replicated a completely different animal? That's the question, not do they replicate. I know a horse and zebra share a common ancestor. The question is do humans and apes share one. This also does not answer the question of how life forms that replicate came into exsistence.

  • ur talkin about evolution... evolution NEVER discusses the origins of life.. evolution discusses origins of speciations by means of natural selection. origin of life is reserved for the field of abiogenesis.

  • Not true Klam22 evolution in its broadest sense ties in big bang, formation of the universe, one billion years of chemical evolution here on earth and abiogenesis. "Origin of Species" published in 1859 did not discuss any of this that is true. It is also true that the scientific community at the time had not agreed upon what criteria defined a "species." Darwin published his twenty plus years worth of evidence collecting and analysis project nonetheless and I'm very glad he decided to do so.

  • I said things you did not observe. I think you have obseved the sun rise every day, unless you live in alaska

  • sanatize, science is not always a fact that is why there is division between ideas,ie. hypothesis, theory, law. If science was a fact we would still be blood letting or giving people oral polio vaccinations. It is a process in which one observes evidence. I enjoy science, but the theory of evolution goes beyond the observable and makes faith based claims. Please use logic, you can not make claims about things you did not observe without an element of faith.

  • You're playing with words, I believe the sun is coming up tomorrow, I have FAITH the sun is coming up tomorrow. That does not mean sun comingupness is a faith based conclusion.

  • I do not unserstand how looking at the facts makes me narrow minded. If being open minded is excepting anything you are told without looking at the facts, then I guess I am. I have never seen nature do what evolution proposes. I have seen the evedence for a creator. It is not that I have not looked at both views I just find creation more logical. I find it arrogant for you to say that I am narrow minded just because I do not except a certain view. I could say the same of you.

  • evidence of a creator? oi, i can only imagine. and yes, when it comes to trying to fill my or my kids heads with supernatural nonsense, experience may have taught me to be "narrow minded" as you would call it.

  • I am not narrow minded. I just hold a different view. I used to be a proponent of evolution, until I discovered the lies that were taught to me in school. For instance that fetuses have gill slits during development, that carbon dating is acurate ( which it is not), that rock layers represent various ages of the earth, then I seen a petrified tree going through all the layers. trees do not stand for millions of years. also all of the "missing links" have been falsified. just a few examples

  • all of the missing links have been falsified?

Well let's see, we have Hyracotherium, Miohippus, Pakicetus, and Rodhocetus to name a few.

Unless you feel that the fossils themselves are fake, then you can look to Vampire Squids, Lung Fish, Monotremes, or Orussids. They are living, so it is a bit hard to fake them.

  • Well forget carbon dating then, there are tons of other types of radio-active dating. You honestly think carbon-dating is used to measure the age of the Earth? BS, it can only look back 5700 years, but is pretty accurate nonetheless. Other types of dating, like thorium-lead for instance, can date back billions of years and might be off with a million years or so. Science is not a democracy and you ''cannot view it differently''. Science is fact, whether you like it or not, regardless of belief.

  • why would I do something like that. You are being absurd. I am not going to take that time to try and play tricks. This converstaion is not that important to me. Are you just trying to avoid answering my questions?

  • no, I am not being absurd. ask me one single, SPECIFIC question. you are trying to have a discussion that would take weeks to have on a comment forum, #1 and #2 you are so ensconced in your narrow minded views, it's not really even a discussion now is it? you won't even contemplate the possibilities... nature, science, is all far more interesting, fascinating and deserving of wonder than any go you can make up can ever be.

  • you know, i just went through the comments here and someone claiming to be the son of this teacher that was forcing the religious point of view....and they have disappeared. that was you wasn't it tedted33? so much for even an inkling of credibility.

  • I watched the video series. I have already learn all that non-sense in college and through study on my own. It is not logical. nothing puts itself together. why would you think nature could do something before it can not do now. How is this logical. Second the Bible has 40 or so authors. For you to say that the jews and christians do not know who wrote thier own history is ludicrous. So are you saying that Rome,Egypt,Syria,Greece,Persia,Isreal ect... did not exsist.

  • lol, okay, if you say that series is not logical and is nonsense (it doesn't have a hyphen by the way)... well, there is not a discussion with you. you are here to promote your own agenda. nature CAN do the same thing now, given circumstance and it's been proven in labs. i don't beleive you watched, processed and absorbed that series. but then, if you have a narrow mind, you aren't capable of freethought.

  • Wow... Evolution is an armchair deduction... You look at what you know.

    -Animals replicate

    -Theres always variation

-These varied traits are passed on

-When the environment changes, some of these traits confer an advantage

-Genes that confer these traits survive and get passed on

Observing these, you can logically deduce evolution. Why?

    watch?v=R_RXX7pntr8

Watch that, and you'll know. I'm FAR too lazy to summarize that video, but those observations are directly quoted from it.

  • nice.

  • Hey nevermind, should they teach the about the writings of Homer, socrates, arostotle, Plato, herodian, Julius Caesar, or Lucius Ampelius? The Bible is a more reliable source of History than all these writers. The Bible has more manuscripts closest to origianl writings. Please do your research before you show your bias against the BIble.

  • it's not even proven who wrote the bible and which version? most of the bible is nonsense, not only historically, but ethically.

  • eine,I find it funny that people who hold the evolutionary view do not have hard facts. Instead you just say how stupid us creationists are. your statment "Evolution proves you wrong, that's one fact" shows how incapable you are of providing solid evidence. You people say that the Bible's depiction of creation is nonsense, but how much more logical is it to beleive that we decended from ape-like creatures. Think about at some point in history your ancestors lived in the sea lol.

  • FOR THE THIRD TIME.... watch the potholer54 series then come here and make a comment. I am giving you hard facts but you choose to ignore them. i NEVER called you stupid, just uneducated and i'm trying to open up the opportunity for you to get educated by watching the potholer54 series. all of it. in full context. THEN you can have a discussion.

  • Yes, that's why early amphibious fish had something resembling metacarpals and phalanges.

  • The teacher my reference the Bible as a very influential text in world history, but using it AS world history is insane and he should be fired for tainting so many young minds with propaganda BS.

Bitch that teacher out and send his ass to the school board.

  • i complained to the principal and it's not been an issue since. shame i have to safeguard against these things in this day and age.

  • as for the third grade insults there you go again. I am educated on evolution. It teaches that life advances through radom mutation and natural selection and after millions of years we went from amphibians to ape like creatures to homo whatever lie you want to put in between to homosapiens. I ask you for facts that this occured and all you do is try and insult me. I am beginning to think you are the uneducated one. do you have facts or insults. please prove me wrong.

  • "creatures to homo whatever lie you want to put in between to homosapiens" what does that mean? is that some reference to homosexuality? geez, you do digress. i'm definately undereducated, i have a master's degree and still do not know much about life and the universe except that it is complex and amazing and not of a god's pencil. again, go watch potholer54 and THEN come back and comment.

  • WOW! A scary video, indeed. I do hope you had some correcting effect on the school in question. Did you bring this to the attention of other parents?

  • no i didn't. it's very hard here where i live, they all buy into this.

  • Well, good luck with your children's education. I do hope those teachers have little effect on them, other than annoyance.

  • It is not our place to prove you wrong, that isn't science. If I were to say I was a spirit from the year 1400 it would be my duty to prove it, if I just said "Prove I'm not a spirit" it would be a fairly weak argument for my sprithood.

You are bringing a new and disputed claim to go against what is well known and accepted. If you want us to consider it please state the facts and explain you are more correct than our theory.

  • Evolution proves you wrong, that's one fact.

  • Einekliene

I was referring to intelligent design, not evolution.

  • I wasn't replying to you =) It was for Tedted

  • can you people not read. I said that the Idea of evolution started as a new age philosophy. not that science teaches that we will become gods. new age does. the idea started with plato and his writing on atlantis where he states the we bought here by gods to evolve into gods. again I am not saying science teaches this just that the idea of evolution spawn from it. do some research on history or do you think darwin is the first person to propose the idea. no he just came up with the mechanism.

  • i think myself and the other commentors are very well read. when you say science = new age = evolve to gods, what conclusion do you expect? atlantis and anything to do with gods is not science. science is about EVIDENCE. again, i recommend you watch potholer54.

  • give me facts not third grade insults

  • Evolution never claimed that beings would become gods. All it says is that over time things change. There is no plan to how everything will end up, by claiming that evolution shows that people will become gods you are showing that you don't know much about the theory.

I would go into it further but I am running out of space to write.

Before you continue this debate please at least try to get our side of the argument straight and look up the article about evolution on Wikipedia.

  • thank you.

  • 3rd grade insults? where are they? you are quite obviously uneducated on what the theory of evolution is as evidenced by your comments.

  • I figured you would reply with some silly nonsense instead of answering the questions or doing some research on new age philosophy. I would not bother talking about a subject that I am not educated on. Please if you are going to respond to

  • I figured you would reply with some silly nonsense instead of answering the questions or doing some research on new age philosophy. I would not bother talking about a subject that I am not educated on. Please if you are going to respond to

  • silly nonsense? go to a youtuber called potholer54. he is far more succinct than i could ever be.

  • If that is the case then please tell me what evidence is it based on. second I never said science taught that we became gods. I said that is what the new age religion teaches.

  • it would take far, far more room than youtube has to offer than to explain to you "what evidence". when you say "science...stems from new age religion...states we are slowly evolving and ...will become gods" yes, that is what you are saying. dude, get an education.

  • Give up.

  • i know, i know. but "they" come to your site with this, what do you do? ignore it and by silence give them the smugness of thinking they make any sense?

  • It's faith based science. It stems from the new age religion, that states we are slowly evolving and eventually we will become gods. If you son't believe me do some research. There is no proof that we developed from apes. there is no proof that the universe started with a big bang. These are religous beliefs, because they not based on facts. They are based on faith.

  • i must strongly disagree. and i've never heard in science that we think we will become gods. never. it's evidenced based science.

  • They make institutions with padded walls for people like you.

Evolution is not religion, nor is it even the least bit faith-based. Quit reading creationist propaganda for once and pick up a peer-reviewed journal. Who knows, you might learn something.

  • They teach evolution in her science class too. You should get that out of there also, if your against religion in schools.

  • evolution is not religion.

  • That's just ridiculous- no child should have to undergo this brainwashing at school!

  • agreed.

  • She reminds me of meg

  • who's meg?

  • I'm sure it would be easy enough for you to make a list of a few hundred texts from the same time period of the bible, and tell the teacher to make his students memorize those also.

If she has to learn about the bible, why not the book of the dead also? (even though i have no idea when that was written =O)

  • well yes, i so agree.

  • what year are we in? 2008? and when was scopes v ten? 1925? oh, ok...just checking.

  • rural virginia apparently missed a boat somewhere. :-)

  • Ethics and values!

The school system in my area is on a decline.

    A sharp and unstable decline!

The epidemic is teachers and administration that don't give a damn, or give too much damnation in all the wrong places.

  • but who's ethics and values? the school is for education not teaching ethics and values, that is the parents job, no?

  • Since when did The Rosetta Stone have anything to do with the Old Testament?

I mean, maybe it could somehow veryify some of the things that happened in Exodus like Joseph going to Egypt and Moses disobeying Pharoah. But that remains to be seen, because there are no Egyptian hieroglypics that support it and you'd think the Egyptians would've kept a record of all the plagues that God supposedly sent forth onto them.

  • a lot of people just maket things fit in their head.

  • Holy crap, WTF??? Sorry, but this sort of thing seriously pisses me off. What state are you guys in?

Rosetta stone in world history... sheesh. I thought my history teacher was a slacker for not making us learn the states and capitals, but this Mr. Lawson just leapt into first place on the "stupid" list.

Take his job if you have to. This can't be tolerated.

  • the great state of virginia, i moved here five years ago and you know what? up until last year you could smoke in public government buildings. they are a few years behind the times. thanks for the encouragement. it pisses me off royally too.

  • Wow...

But happened? You went to the school and what did they say? What did the "teacher"(preacher would be more accurate) say?

I really hope that you can manage to get your kids really educated.

  • i complained, the principle investigated, the teacher went on a mysterious leave of absence.

  • I wish your kids will get a great history teacher who not only teaches what is really known but also makes it interesting.

  • no doubt. i LOVE history!

  • good for you! :)

  • thanks.

  • actually my mothers a catholic and my dads a atheist like me they both presented there argument and let me choose i picked atheism didn't bother em. chrisitiany just seemed soo...

    YOU know?

  • to me nothing in any of the religions rang true.. i tried several in my youth, just went to dozens of churches and observed and i found the common denominator, for me, was that they were all bs. what do your parents think of what is happening in your schools? my mom is catholic and uses every opportunity to tell me i'm going to hell. lol.

  • I like that, the one common denominator amoung all religions is BS. ROLF :)

  • Usually english people complain about being english. This however, makes me glad i didnt have to put up with that growing up.

  • it gets pretty intense in certain parts of this country. incredibly prejudicial and discriminatory.

  • im still in school 9th grade

  • what do you parents think of all this?

  • arkansas they say stuff like the only way to survie in life is to pray there was only one perfect man in this world and we nailed him to the cross. one time my teacher let a group come to our school and talk about the bible they also passed them out i refused to take one and they said if i don't respect other groups they would give me d-hall. so i told them go talk to your imaginary friend and got supspended for 2 days for being serverly disrespectful.

  • woah! are you still in school? or have you graduated?

  • Man this makes me mad my teachers say this bulll crap also

  • what state are you in?

  • I would flip out if they were preaching that insanity to my kids. Believe some magic skydaddy is watching you all the time, and no matter how good you are, you'll never be good enough? That crap is psychologically damaging. Christianity's central emotion is guilt, not love. I would keep a record of what the teacher is doing and then head to the ACLU. Damn American Taliban trying to indoctrinate your kid -- don't stand for it.

  • i totally agree.

  • Wow man, I can't believe they actually taught that to your kids. What did you guys end up doing about it? Thats just horrible.

  • complained. the teacher went on a leave of absence shortly after.

  • congratz, though she should have been fired on the spot. thats still just horrible.

  • NICE VID, THANK 'GOD' I havnt seen any crap like that where i live. I actually had a badass biology teacher, At the time i didnt realize it though.

  • i would say children do need to learn it, just to see how stupid we once were. And technically it is "History", but not "World History. Dan Dennett has it right, you should watch his video. But yea where is the Koran in those classes, or Buddhism, or Wicca, or the Study of Zeus, thats all world history too. I dont know, shits crazy. But yea your children seem very well taught. I've never seen a young kid know what the Rosetta Stone is, good job.

  • well i can deem anything a "religion" but the ideal seems to me, to throw it all out, let's teach based on truths and scientific inquiry which begs for challenges.

  • yea i agree. I was just saying that kids( well high school kids preferably) be taught only facts about the religion. No mythology, just facts. Dennett says it the best. But yea what they made your daughter do is ridiculous. Have a nice day.

  • when i was in junior high, i remember my history teacher talking about pagans being evil. he said if anyone calls you a pagan, take it as offense, because it's people who don't believe in god or jesus.

at the time, i was catholic. i wish i wasn't though, so I could tell that fat fucker where to stick his bigoted bs. and also educate him on the irony of it since christianity is largely derived from pagan religions to begin with.

  • what i meant to say regarding being catholic, I didn't care at the time, because I didn't consider myself a non-christian nor was I aware of the implication of his claim otherwise. I just wish I had converted to being nonreligious much earlier so i would've caught that and thrown it back at him.

  • of course the bible is real. about as real as any other fiction book. its still a book that exists! XD

  • Religion should absolutely be taught in schools. For its cultural relevance (historic and current)... It just shouldn't be taught by religious people.
