  • How come 4449's number plates read '844'?

  • Pranks between the 4449 and 844 crews. " Southern Pacific 844 and Union Pacific 4449" ect..

  • When you taped the train leaving Tacoma, I was standing right next to you. Sure was something to see, huh?

  • Thanks for your video

  • Excellent video!

  • The X means "Extra" and 844 is the train number. So 4449 was a helper added. Why I don't know. But remember reading about it.

  • The track bulletins were issued to UP 844, so to avoid changing their track bulletins, which in this case there would have been 5 or 6 sets, they simply made the lead "unit" 844, in accordance to the rules, because the lead unit has to refer to the number the track bulletins are issued to.

  • I have a question if anyone here knows...

WHY did 4449 have "844B" on the cab?

And why did it have X844 on the number plates?

  • 844B was a joke by the 4449 crew. On the ferry move from Vancouver to Tacoma, 4449 became UPRY #845! LOL!

I have no idea what the X-844 on the 4449's train indicator boards means.

  • X means "Extra" and 844 the train number. So 4449 was helping Extra 844. Remember reading about it.

  • This is great work, almost like being there. I sure hated to miss this one but just couldn't get away. Sincere thanks to ou and others who were able to make it and so quick to share with the rest of us.

  • Hello Mr.Wong , nice to see your video about the two big steams . Are you a Chinese ? I have a lot of Chinese trains videos and I hope you would love it them .
