From what I've heard, the storyline is of two lovers who were cursed and turned into dolls, he finds them and brings them together, however they can only be together one night once reunited.

That's what I've heard, as for it that was the intended backstory, I'm not sure.

He says "Take me with you upstairs" the Japaneses word for upstairs is "nikai", for mansion it is "seki" The words sound very different when spoken normally, yet when sung they can at times sound similar, especially with Gackt's habit of dragging out the ends of some words. It's an easy translation mistake to make.
