The U.S should get its arse out of everyone else's business in other nations, bring all their troops home, dice up the military funding and redistribute it to things that actually benefit their economy and people.
@Vire70 So right. For every country we're fighting in, we have also our meat-hooks in 30 more as military bases. We're just about every where. Bring those people home. They can keep the ports & borders safe if need be, for a lot less. You can only really keep yourself safe at home, not by playing whack-a-mole all over the globe & creating more enemies in the process. We should be taking care of our own people instead of constantly being at war somewhere.
might as well cut school funding all together as all american children will be autistic retarded and deformed in the coming years...no need for education...drop some more DU bombs..force some more vaccinations....you people are dumb!
For the US government and the people who controls the government its all about keeping its people as ignorant as possible.
The 300+ (?) TV channels are all part of the scam of feeding people celebrity-crap and showing commercials of things the regular Joe will never have or is able to buy without a loan. Keep on chasing that dream and most of all, keep 'em stupid... Thats their motto.
The teachers themselves, have through their greed been supplanted by their union leadership – they protected the incompetent and now are no longer real teachers. They have become facilitators of standardized state approved lesson plans. They have sold their profession to a centralized one size fits all soviet model – they themselves are now the target of the very system they helped to build and will get little in the way of sympathy from Parents and Taxpayers.
The teachers union and corrupt Fed, State, and local government have destroyed the public education system. They have established a cartel and a system that is not answerable to the people that they supposedly serve. They became greedy pigs using the power of this corrupt system steal more and more from the people they serve -- all the while saying "it is for the children"
watch "Waiting for Superman" if you want to learn more about how and why the us education system is so fucked up.. its the teachers' tenure that means they CANNOT be fired under ANY circumstances after 2 years of work.. so, the good teachers go to private schools and the shit head, lazy, idiots stay around, dont teach, and collect their pay and just wait it out to collect their pensions
Hello! We are teachers unions from Bealarus and we want you other unioinized teachers to know we stand in solidarity to say we want more and more and more crap. We also want free food and free place to stay and free wedical care. We also like ponies and want many cars with large garages. It's for children, no? We also like large derigible aircraft with movie screen and also to have vestern movie stars come shake ass. Ees to much to ask? Ve only run black sites and reep skeen off luckless arabs

@disastermaster85 sort of a misconception in many ways tho. Teachers in america are desensitized, they don't care about teaching, they just pass out textbooks and quiz. Their union keeps them in work even when they are clearly incompetent. But they blame the budget. The answer is to fire the lazy teachers, cut sports, and fund science.
well why the hell don't they go back to how it use to be when it wasn't broken and get the kids smarter again and elect a person who is going to take it back to how it use to be and listen to the ppl and not the banks and wallstreet
Standardisation is really bad. In my country, for our version of SATs/HSC/GCSEs are under a similar way of thinking. If you score 100% in a test and everyone else scores 10%, you actually lose YOUR marks because the others couldn't be bothered studying. The thinking behind this is that everyone will try extremely hard so no one gets dragged down, this doesn't happen as it was founded during the days students got whipped for poor marks. In conclusion, my future isn't worth shit because of others.
The teachers unions aren't the sole problem, teachers unions can exist. The sole problem is the lack of any form of consumer choice in public schools. No parent would say, well, I'll send my kid to whatever school, whatever is closer, no matter to quality. People want their children in the best schools. Right now they don't have any options. Allow Parents to select which schools their children attend and the failures associated with public schooling will diminish.
1) We destroy NCLB, which punishes schools for failing children by decreasing pay, which decreases the quality of education, and makes students fail harder.
2) Make school funding based on state-average property tax instead of zone-specific taxing. That way schools in the "ghetto" can thrive- opening a door for blacks, instead of getting virtually no money due to no-property tax revenue.
@LuckyDukeSeven sate-average property tax instead of zone-specific taxing will just break the bank of less earning home owners. Some zones have $30,000 homes mixed with $300,000 homes. It needs to be regulated on property value.
@LuckyDukeSeven consumer choice is a "ridiculous suggestion"? You have been smoking some bad granola. What you're suggesting is just giving more money to failing schools. Don't even try to deny it, it's exactly what you JUST suggested. Under a system of other countries known as vouchers, horrible schools will fail. Is there any other market, say, cell phones, where if a cell phone carrier is doing badly the government should give them more money to do better? That's retarded.
@kingmafi6699 Nope, the truth is Department of Education employee Charlotte Iserbyt warned teachers about their communist ways and nobody listened to her. /watch?v=iBUj7IwunHY
When the schools started failing because we cut funding because the a few students didn't do so well, it snowballed the rest of the kids into a path of failure due to underfunding.
Consumer choice? Yeah- especially since property taxes PAY for public schools. So whatever neighborhood parents live and pay taxes in, that's what school they're paying too. Consumer choice is impossible without my second suggestion.
How about these changes: No more teacher's unions. Fire teachers that don't perform and sleep with students. Pay the good teachers fair wages and provide necessary supplies. Quit griping about tests and teach and your students will do fine on said tests.
@dwarner1so you want them to have another test/layer of beauracracy to find out which teachers perform and which do not? but with no union protection? can tell you ain't a teacher. no asian would have that mindset - slashing education. perhaps that's why USA is on the way down
@ahoyhoy79 Of course I want teachers to be held accountable to their performance; why wouldn't I? And in what way do unions benefit the students?
Do you want to know how I can tell that you're not a teacher? Your grammar, style errors and completely missing that I wrote about fair wages and providing necessary materials.
ok but only if they promise to bring be some nice rice and beans and i also want 2 cars and a garage. and also i would like a big house. and also with the house i would like a pony. i would like free health care with some rice and beans and de big house with the pony and i would also like education and some chips and some guacamole and some creme de fresco on de side. i would also like a small business investment and social securidad and another side of chips please. thank you.
@dwarner1 what do i care? whine over other people's wages and lives. sure, fair wages, yet you want another layer of beauracracy to achieve such. which i would have thought would be contrary to the entire point- smaller govt. saving money. but hey, since when do conservatives use rational logic?
hey, last time i checked there's no institute d'anglais governing english use ;) free country. you know the drill. having said that look at your use of 'and' and the '?'. can't even walk your own walk
@ahoyhoy79 It's pretty cool that you are psychic. You must be to divine that I am a conservative and that I want more bureaucracy (that's how it's properly spelled by the way) even though I have made no mention of either.
Are you implying that organizations like the French Academy are literally forcing correct grammar or are you suggesting that there are no formal rules of grammar in the English language?
rules are only made to be broken. eh? come to australia and enforce formal grammar on us! let's see you try. if you can even read the map to get here - what with your excellent school system.
@ahoyhoy79 It's kind of hard to take you seriously when in the same comment you belittle another country's education system while bragging of your improper grammar.
Also, I am beginning to doubt your critical thinking skills as you are under the impression that I would need a map to get to Australia. I don't anticipate walking the 9K miles from me to you. I would probably just take a plane.
Tests seriously don't work i understand having them but you don't learn anything from tests and right now in Maryland at least tests are nearly 75% of your grade. I was told it was mathmatically impossible to pass my Chem 2 class because i did bad on my first 2 tests rather than help me understand the material they moved me to a different class. Only thing i learnned is that when something goes wrong i give up and do something easier our education system is rediculous....
@ThePumpkininja Tests aren't to teach. They are for you to prove that you learned. What in the world would you propose in lieu of tests? Take their word for it?
@dwarner1 When it comes to a point where its mathmatically impossible to pass the class because you had trouble on the first few tests there's something wrong. Instead of trying to help the kids understand the material they'll just shove you in a different class that is just lazy. I would rather have tests weighed less give us back homework and extra credit assignments. HW biulds responsability and if u really want to put in effort to raise your grade with extra credit isnt that a good thing?
@ThePumpkininja Sounds fair to me, but I don't know the specifics of your course. I'm no teacher, but if I were, yes I would rather give the student the opportunity to recoup their grade if they earn it, as you said. I have experienced professors do this and not. I would prefer your way. :)
U.S. Teachers are idiots that are there for the paycheck and to repress children, the stupidest people i have ever met have been teahers at public schools, they used to be good.....
Yes, teachers in the United States are by and large, idiots. But that's only because of the systematic segregation of "good" and "Bad" teachers. If we mix them all up, the bad ones stand out, and can be reevaluated or fired. But a school filled with crap teachers in the south side of Chicago isn't going to get any of them noticed.
Ok schools need to get rid od the standardized tests but more money is a fuck no schools spend money on the stupidest shit last year of high school they fired teachers but they boult a fucking garden for the garden class literally a garden class which went out to the garden very rarely
@ilafeiz oh. well, I knew it was some ungodly sum. while the rest of us are slaving away those fat cat teachers are raking in the big bucks. Teacher's compensation needs to be pared way back. I have no sympathy for them.
100% behind the save our schools action this year. Standardized testing is a joke, corporate funded education is coming at the cost of critical thinking skills that children desperately need and the charter school system is quickly showing itself to be classist, racist and ableist in what students are accepted. Obama's race to the top is as much of a joke as No Child Left Behind.
people think teachers are overpaid. It pisses me off to hear this because I know too many that work second jobs and even third jobs to make ends meet.
@1XMarksSpot im so glad we dont have man people in australia who think like you ;) part of the reason the USA is in difficult times is because of hairbrained ideas like that. Remember just because alot of people believe something doesnt mean its right... nazism, the tea party ideology, and christianity all come to mind.
@totallykeet LOL The Department of Education in the USA has done nothing to educate young minds. It's mission to dumb down young minds and to indoctrinate. I've been through the education system in the USA, so I know. As for Australia, if Australia was so smart, they wouldn't have let the carbon tax scheme go through to hamper production, and therefore economic growth. Take care of your own country first please.
@1XMarksSpot@1XMarksSpot Spoken like a true rightwing dumbshit. Your opinions so aptly profile your stupidity. I guess you're just one of those Home Schoolin' fuckwits ain't ya Cletus. Another Ron Paul Libertarian fascist piece of shit.
@totallykeet The guys one of those brainwashed Libertarians. Their anti-government policies have pretty much fucked the middle class and have given the mega rich huge tax brakes and they're so anti intellectual they think Climate Change is a Marxist Plot. Don't waste your time...they're too stupid to breathe.
@1XMarksSpot Simple for a simple shit. Yeah...let's give Rupert Murdoch, BP oil, and the rest of the corporate clowns more tax breaks. No wonder you hate education...you obviously suck at it.
@1XMarksSpot er, some people cannot afford 'education expenses' that is why there is a public system to spread the cost over the tax base. It puzzles me - in the US people seem to be quite happy with socialised banking and military system. Why do people object to socialised medicine and education ?
@DavidAKZ I object to socialized medicine because I don't want to be paying the medical expenses of other people. That's their responsibility - not mine. Socialized education has been in the US for decades now. It hasn't improved the young minds of America, but has drained the country of trillions of dollars.
@1XMarksSpot The thing is if you remove state education completely, many poor people will not able to give their children any education and they'll remain poor and have no opportunity to move up because they don't have the skills to get higher paying jobs. That seems like the antipathy of the American dream.
@DefTheMarxist But if poor people rely on the state to educate their children, then the poor people aren't giving their children any education. The state is - and looking at history, the state doesn't educate. It indoctrinates. That's a big difference. Poor people can educate their kids themselves or shore together funds to hire a qualified teaching professional to do it. How well you are being "educated" in the US depends on your zip code and you have no say in the matter.
@DavidAKZ The military doesn't need socializing. It's part of the government from the beginning. Banks on the other hand need to be strictly regulated and not be granted the power to create money. Private banks granted the ability to create money can usurp the government easily as it has already.
Teachers are idiots if they think we should invest in clearly unpreforming dumb kids. Some kids just have smart genes and some don't. The longer we pretend this isn't true, the more damage we do and time and resources we waste.
@TheVikingNinja So i guess you think that rich people are smart and poor people are dumb? if you do some research you will realize that social privilege lets average people do well and poverty and disadvantage stops smart people doing well. Intelligence is not always needed to be rich just look at donald trump.
How about this, stop making public education compulsory. Idiots get no education and we won't have to rely on immigrant labor while those who want the education will be able to get a decent one.
@wtf0804 no, I don't think that is cynthia mckinny. This women is probably a zionist and looks like a freakin ape and probably loves pushing legislation through that won't be good for whites because of an inferiority complex.
@limitedgovt999 Too bad homeschooling isn't an option for most families in this country, especially when more and more families need dual incomes in order to make ends meet.
@limitedgovt999 It's a cultural problem, money won't solve it, government won't solve it. What are the children of under-educated parents to do? Homeschooling would make them worse off and close off all potential for improvement.
What happens to these kids now? I'd suggest we remove child labor laws and the minimum wage so that kids who have no other options can at least learn a trade and become productive members of society. Right now the school system has failed them and laws prevent these kids from getting jobs. So what do they do? They turn to drugs and crime and end up in prison. All so that we can all feel better about everyone receiving an education.
@limitedgovt999 Removing minimum wage will only make millions of people employed but unable to pay their bills, that is negative improvement. Even with substandard public education, at least they have a chance now if they put in the effort and stay away from bullshit. They should legalize pot and make it illegal to use that as a reason to deny employment. Millions of qualified people will then be eligible for decent employment. That's a large sector of crime/drugs taken off the table.
The minimum wage right now is causing all sorts of unemployment. Simple economics teaches that a worker must produce goods/services at least equal to his pay. If a worker costs more than he produces then it is unprofitable to hire them.
By eliminating the minimum wage, many people will be able to get jobs, especially inexperienced teenagers. This is their gateway to better jobs.
I do agree with you about legalization as it will drastically reduce profits along with crime.
@limitedgovt999 As someone with a degree in economics, your analysis of minimum wage is grossly simplistic and ignores the many other factors that determine the wage and profitability of labor units. Outside of the service sector (you know, shit jobs that teenagers can get anyway) marginal product of labor has very little effect on the cost of goods and relative affordability of consumer goods to low-wage workers. Housing, durables etc. prices are not driven by the labor input very much.
Come on, don't over complicate it. Inexperienced teenagers are not very productive, therefore they can't command a high wage. An inexperienced teenager who produces $5 of profit per hour will be fired if the employer has to pay him $7.25 per hour since the employer would be losing $2.25 every hour.
Teenagers can remain at home and live with their parents or share an apartment if it is not enough to live off of. Eventually they gain experience, become more productive and make more
@limitedgovt999 I'm not over complicating anything, I'm explaining the actual complexity of economic activity. "Basic Economics" is not sufficient to solve real world problems, especially the unique problems we're experiencing now. If it were, we wouldn't be here.
@BizzLeVrai so Ture education is always the key for a strong country but it also depends on the individual.
I finished high school about a year ago and I remember taking these standardized tests. My class was able to save our school from losing their federal aid. I believe that test scores do not show how hard and individual works on their classes. I know a lot of people that get C even though they studied as hard as I did. ( Im an A student).
@FONZY52418 keep up the good work !! Try and get the highest educational qualification possible. It's a real sacrifice (friends, money) but it's more than worth it in the end.
Ed Hershey, the Chicago Teacher must understand that working in corporations enables you to spend your money before it is taxed. That is why financial education is more important than school education.

The U.S should get its arse out of everyone else's business in other nations, bring all their troops home, dice up the military funding and redistribute it to things that actually benefit their economy and people.
Vire70 7 months ago 4
@Vire70 So right. For every country we're fighting in, we have also our meat-hooks in 30 more as military bases. We're just about every where. Bring those people home. They can keep the ports & borders safe if need be, for a lot less. You can only really keep yourself safe at home, not by playing whack-a-mole all over the globe & creating more enemies in the process. We should be taking care of our own people instead of constantly being at war somewhere.

@disastermaster85 sort of a misconception in many ways tho. Teachers in america are desensitized, they don't care about teaching, they just pass out textbooks and quiz.

Allow Parents to select which schools their children attend and the failures associated with public schooling will diminish.
s0beit 7 months ago
@s0beit
Instead of your dreadfully ridiculous suggestion:
1) We destroy NCLB, which punishes schools for failing children by decreasing pay, which decreases the quality of education, and makes students fail harder.
2) Make school funding based on state-average property tax instead of zone-specific taxing. That way schools in the "ghetto" can thrive- opening a door for blacks, instead of getting virtually no money due to no-property tax revenue.
LuckyDukeSeven 7 months ago
@LuckyDukeSeven sate-average property tax instead of zone-specific taxing will just break the bank of less earning home owners. Some zones have $30,000 homes mixed with $300,000 homes. It needs to be regulated on property value.
KresTKroVee 7 months ago
@LuckyDukeSeven consumer choice is a "ridiculous suggestion"? You have been smoking some bad granola. What you're suggesting is just giving more money to failing schools. Don't even try to deny it, it's exactly what you JUST suggested. Under a system of other countries known as vouchers, horrible schools will fail. Is there any other market, say, cell phones, where if a cell phone carrier is doing badly the government should give them more money to do better? That's retarded.

Tests seriously don't work i understand having them but you don't learn anything from tests and right now in Maryland at least tests are nearly 75% of your grade. Only thing i learnned is that when something goes wrong i give up and do something easier our education system is rediculous....
ThePumpkininja 7 months ago
@ThePumpkininja Tests aren't to teach. They are for you to prove that you learned. What in the world would you propose in lieu of tests? Take their word for it?
dwarner1 7 months ago
@dwarner1 When it comes to a point where its mathmatically impossible to pass the class because you had trouble on the first few tests there's something wrong. Instead of trying to help the kids understand the material they'll just shove you in a different class that is just lazy. I would rather have tests weighed less give us back homework and extra credit assignments. HW biulds responsability and if u really want to put in effort to raise your grade with extra credit isnt that a good thing?
ThePumpkininja 7 months ago
@ThePumpkininja Sounds fair to me, but I don't know the specifics of your course. I'm no teacher, but if I were, yes I would rather give the student the opportunity to recoup their grade if they earn it, as you said. I have experienced professors do this and not. I would prefer your way. :)

Yes, teachers in the United States are by and large, idiots. But that's only because of the systematic segregation of "good" and "Bad" teachers. @totallykeet LOL The Department of Education in the USA has done nothing to educate young minds. It's mission to dumb down young minds and to indoctrinate. I've been through the education system in the USA, so I know. seamoremonster 7 months ago
@1XMarksSpot er, some people cannot afford 'education expenses' that is why there is a public system to spread the cost over the tax base. It puzzles me - in the US people seem to be quite happy with socialised banking and military system. Why do people object to socialised medicine and education ?
DavidAKZ 7 months ago
@DavidAKZ I object to socialized medicine because I don't want to be paying the medical expenses of other people. That's their responsibility - not mine. Socialized education has been in the US for decades now. It hasn't improved the young minds of America, but has drained the country of trillions of dollars.
1XMarksSpot 7 months ago
@1XMarksSpot The thing is if you remove state education completely, many poor people will not able to give their children any education and they'll remain poor and have no opportunity to move up because they don't have the skills to get higher paying jobs. That seems like the antipathy of the American dream.
DefTheMarxist 7 months ago
@DefTheMarxist But if poor people rely on the state to educate their children, then the poor people aren't giving their children any education. The state is - and looking at history, the state doesn't educate. It indoctrinates. That's a big difference. Poor people can educate their kids themselves or shore together funds to hire a qualified teaching professional to do it. How well you are being "educated" in the US depends on your zip code and you have no say in the matter.
1XMarksSpot 7 months ago
@1XMarksSpot and what of socilised banks and military ?
DavidAKZ 7 months ago
@DavidAKZ The military doesn't need socializing. It's part of the government from the beginning. Banks on the other hand need to be strictly regulated and not be granted the power to create money. Private banks granted the ability to create money can usurp the government easily as it has already.
1XMarksSpot 7 months ago
Teachers are idiots if they think we should invest in clearly unpreforming dumb kids. Some kids just have smart genes and some don't. The longer we pretend this isn't true, the more damage we do and time and resources we waste.
TheVikingNinja 7 months ago

limitedgovt999 7 months ago
@limitedgovt999 Too bad homeschooling isn't an option for most families in this country, especially when more and more families need dual incomes in order to make ends meet.
juliaisafilmbuff123 7 months ago
@limitedgovt999 It's a cultural problem, money won't solve it, government won't solve it. What are the children of under-educated parents to do? Homeschooling would make them worse off and close off all potential for improvement.
spikesmth 7 months ago
@spikesmth
All so that we can all feel better about everyone receiving an education.
limitedgovt999 7 months ago
@limitedgovt999 Removing minimum wage will only make millions of people employed but unable to pay their bills, that is negative improvement. Even with substandard public education, at least they have a chance now if they put in the effort and stay away from bullshit. They should legalize pot and make it illegal to use that as a reason to deny employment. Millions of qualified people will then be eligible for decent employment. That's a large sector of crime/drugs taken off the table.
spikesmth 7 months ago
@spikesmth
I do agree with you about legalization as it will drastically reduce profits along with crime.
limitedgovt999 7 months ago
@limitedgovt999 As someone with a degree in economics, your analysis of minimum wage is grossly simplistic and ignores the many other factors that determine the wage and profitability of labor units. Outside of the service sector (you know, shit jobs that teenagers can get anyway) marginal product of labor has very little effect on the cost of goods and relative affordability of consumer goods to low-wage workers. Housing, durables etc. prices are not driven by the labor input very much.
spikesmth 7 months ago
@spikesmth
Eventually they gain experience, become more productive and make more
limitedgovt999 7 months ago
@limitedgovt999 I'm not over complicating anything, I'm explaining the actual complexity of economic activity. "Basic Economics" is not sufficient to solve real world problems, especially the unique problems we're experiencing now. If it were, we wouldn't be here.
spikesmth 7 months ago

@BizzLeVrai so Ture education is always the key for a strong country but it also depends on the individual.
I finished high school about a year ago and I remember taking these standardized tests. My class was able to save our school from losing their federal aid.
