I realised later that I'd slipped up with a couple of accents: Ionescu would have a Rumanian accent and Betjeman did actually go to Eton so his accent wouldn't have slipped.
I know the "column" Coren. I mean, a couple of years ago I bought the Omnibus(on Amazon-his books are hardly to be found in bookstores here in the States). And I just purchased the Alan Coren Reader, the 'best of" book his kids edited. I first came across his name- actually, I can't quite recall- maybe in a piece of Clive James. Anyway, when I was in the UK in 2000, I remember reading him in the Times.
He definitely drew from S.J. Perleman, but ihe's no cheap imitation.
This is a brilliant little piece- or rendering of Coren's piece.
Did you do all the voices? Anyway, the animation, musical snippets, and your reading are delightfully fused.
