I'm on the first disk on this game. And I have to say that this game has some best MIDI music I've ever heard. But now when I hear this MIDI version of OWA, I'm REALLY disappointed. Uematsu has done much better MIDIs at this game and now OWA is ruined! It doesn't even have the choir even though it's possible to add sound files to a MIDI! The choir was a big reason why the song is so famous!! I think I'm gonna download the program to change music files JUST for this battle...

U do no if u got the non illegal V of the game u can change the sound settings so it sounds like the PS V.

Equipping Yuffie with her Ultimate Weapon (Conformer) with 2x Cut and Mastered "Cover" materias gives a guaranteed quick death for Sephiroth as she gives guaranteed 9999 damage. Sephi at my level 60 or so only has 70,000 hp or so.

actually, I found in the american version that if you use a cheat to get aerith/s in your party BEFORE you meet her in the church and name her, her name will be Aerith by default. It changes to Aeris upon naming her. It's strange.

The localization team fucked up the translation in the original Final Fantasy VII, and that's why some names came out the way they did. Her true name is supposed to be Aerith, but I like Aeris better because the former is so awkward to pronounce and doesn't look as good in writing.

now if this was in the orginal version of the game... by some crazy event that would make it possible to have Aerith join only for the very last battle as an effigy. it might not make much sense but it would have been cool just to be there maybe to add some emotional impact and as a defiant (F-U, im not that easy to get rid of.) to the tyrant. and maybe give the player a little boost, i usually pick someone thats good with healing in the last battle anyways so why not have it be Aerith.

not sure why people play down the pc version, in just about every game that is available for pc and console pc is superior. The default music on the pc is poor however it is configurable and can be made to beat the psx music especially with ff7music app. Graphics are superior on the pc especially with high res and transparent dialog patches, loading times also superior as play off hdd. No ideal why his frame rate so low, on my weak laptop it runs at normal speed.

you actually dont have to hack aries into the game or use a gameshark at all, you can revive areis in the game by killing emerald and ruby and using there drops there was also a meterai you had to master...but i cant remember the name of it now but you also ahve to kill 1999 enimies without dieing after sephiroth kills her and when you have the materia mastered and the 2 items from the weapons go to forgotten city.

What sucks about the PC version, is that the Vocals are missing, but not entirely 100% true, there is an option to use Soundfonts, which enable the 100% original PSX version of the instruments, incl. vocals, but this feature only works on the older cards.

I managed to use MIDI Yoke, and another soundfont application to use the FFVII soundfont to make the vocals work ingame, but that was choppy

Look it's simple- this is on a PC and the guy has tampered with the codes, same thing can be done on a PS1 or 2 by using a game shark (as already mentioned above by like dozens of other people!) Longtime I readed an old trick to NOT LET AERITH/AERIS to die... simply change the disk 1 for the second one right before seeing the cutscene that Sefirot literally kills her... It also skips the boss battle. but she will be alive. But I didn't test it yet.

The pronunciation is neither Aeris nor Aerith due to the fact, that the Japanese language is a syllabary. Translated into romanji (which is the phonetic transcription)it would be: aerisu. But: you don't really pronounce the "u" so it sounds like "s" or "th". One could say, that both aren't really wrong but they aren't correct, neither. Concerning to the video: it's fun to see the fight again; but to be honest: aerisu died and I wouldn't want to have it differently.

The music is crap because I played the PC version. It was a commercial decision by Squaresoft back then - FF7 consisted of 4 CDs. To include the PS-quality music would involve a 5th CD so they used a low quality MIDI format instead.

I used the default names the game gave me - obviously I was playing the American version.
