@StLouisEarl I was at this game, and I do remember the storm 3 days later as well. My deepest condolences to you and your family!!! Very sorry to hear that!!
I was staying 60 min north of st.louis . My friend called and asked me if I wanted to go to the game and I said no because I thouht they would continue their losing streek. Wish I would have been there.
This happened on my birthday, and I was at the game. Third deck, it was intense. Imagine a fire hose on full power spraying you on both sides. I was without power for over 3 days.
The wind tore the tarp, blew out the windows in the press boxes, and tore plywood off the windows of a nearby building that was being remodeled.
O God was this the storm where everybody went without power- IN THE SUMMER- for a week and half or more???
I think it was. Because all the babies ("Ameren Babies")conceived during that time are older than one... so it couldn't have been in 07.
The only thing funny the storm are the Ameren babies. Nothing is funny about being w/o powre in a 100 degrees and STL humidity sucks... And then that winter there was another storm and power was off AGAIN for a few days.
I was at that game. I remember telling my family when it was nothing but a dark cloud in the distance how we should leave. I was called a wuss. Lo and behold we get hit by one of the more powerful storms to hit st louis in years. After it hit we left...it was a miserable night. On a side note. I find it ironic that they would cancel baseball games when it drizzles but when it is an extremely powerful storm that hits and causes damage...they dont cancel it. What is up with that?
This game was vs. the Atlanta Braves. The only real notable thing about this game was the 90 mph winds on the field. Don't remember the final score, but they did finish the game, and the Cardinals won.
They did finish the game but first they had to dig up the batter's box and rebuild it because of the water damage. They tried, but couldn't quite keep that tarp down!
Excuse me that was a bad storm we had and it is nothing to laugh at. The National Guard was around to help out people who who had no power and help clean up the tree limbs that was around. I was working at the dome at the time this happend cause we had a convention in town at the time.
yeah, i remember this shit we had those two REALLY sever e storms on jul 19th and 21st, then to top it all off, two huge ice storms in dec and january.... hmm, st louis weather... hah.
That night was crazy. I was in the bleachers and the two front rows were flooded. Then we saw a big TV camera fall from the Coca-Cola deck. Fun night though. Just got to drink that much longer.
thats awesome man. i wish i would of had a video camera with me! yeah we were sitting behind you im suprised i didnt see myself...i was sitting down most of the time huddled against my dad. that storm was great. i was sweating my ass off before it all went down.
at 0:28, the players are running onto the tarp and sliding on it?
bloodvein3 9 months ago
@bloodvein3 No... it's the workers for the field. The tarp is trying to blow away and they are trying to save it.

These players are way overpaid. Bunch of steroid addicted goons. You are foolish to pay to watch these millionaires play in their sandboxes.
