This guy is an absolute certified moron. This is not only amateur hour, this is absolute insanity. Starting fluid is ether. Ether is HIGHLY explosive. If you can't start an engine with a small amount of ether than there is a serious problem, like no spark. This guy could have easily caused a serious explosion!
1st.. you shouldn't have to use starting fluid. If you do, then you have a fuel delivery problem. Check fuel pressure and check injectors for pulse. I use starting fluid to verify that there is spark but no fuel. I don't use it to get the engine running. I have seen way too many burned off eyebrows that way. This guy emptied most of the can before he ever turned the engine over. Accidents happen, but know what your doing before you attempt to mess with the fuel system. Sounds like he flooded it.
