Your birds...er...family members are so cute! I treat my pets like family members too! I remember my little chicken who was named Starchic, her first time at home was when she jumped on my bed! Love her! She passed at August 25 2008:( I miss her...

How long have you had your little chicken? I had Neelix since Easter 2007, then I rescued Kogutek, my other rooster, in October of 2007, and Lilly, our hen, was rescued from the park this past February. Some idiot mutilated her wings and then dumped her off at the local park to fend for herself. So we snatched her from the park, we knew she wouldn't have survived out there on her own. She sleeps on the bed with hubby and me and Neelix and 2 of our ducks each night.
you obviously know about birds drowning, hence the arm for the bird to sit on. some good advice, you dont want to drown them, so instead of bathing them, put a plug in the sink of your kitchen and turn the water on very slowly and watch the beatiful feathered friend have a whale of a time! its what i do with my starling, its so precious!
They have a bath bowl in the bedroom where theire playground is, but every time they hear me fill the tub up for my own bath, they come flying. Now we have 2 ducks that want to take baths with me. As for the starlings, I always have to share my bath with them. They are afraid of the kitchen and bathroom sinks.
thank you for the fast answer.ok i did not know exact the diffrent between a mandarin and a wood duck.but the wood duck is also beautyful.and woohooo you have many animals around you.if i had a house maybe i would have a mandarinduck (male and female) and a Crow my most favority bird right now.greetings from germany
She is a wood duck, very similar to the mandarin, but you can tell the female woody from the mandarin by the eyes. The woody has a tear drop around her eye, and a mandy has a line that goes all the way to the back of the head. But yes, we just have this one duck. We also have 4 european starlings, 10 zebra finches and 2 diamond doves. We have a Rhode Island Red chicken we just got a week ago.
My duck loves taking a bath when I'm in there taking one. She loves to sit on my leg as if it was a log. As for the starlings, they all take baths on me when I'm in the tub.
No. We never would allow for them to be let outside, so they get locked up in a room when we leave the house. And when they have to be transported from the house to the car and vet, we always have them in a small carrier. Except the duck, she is carried to the car.
Hmm.. Maybe I should have my starling do that. heehee but he is timid of new things.. maybe its because he stays in my room all the time. Not in the cage but flying around... Oh well once we move everything will be happier :)
You have a pet wood duck? How did that happen? It's illegal for good reason.
(Your starling are cute though:)

The starlings were raised by humans since they were babies and they are handled a lot. We don't keep them caged so they are always with us.

All my birds fly free in the house, so as soon as they hear the water in the tub running, they're in there waiting. LOL
