  • what genre is this !?

  • See? This is what dubstep is supposed to be.

    Dark

    Gritty

    Haunting

    Yet somewhat soothing and ambient.

And then Burial took it to a whole new level. Made it more emotional. More of an art form. It's not like he injected serum into dubstep, he just took apart the pieces and put it all back together with new ones.

I can't think of any other artist who does that.

I know this has been said too many times before, but Burial is to music what Banksy is to art what Braid is the video games.

  • @preceeding is braid really that special?

  • there arent many musicians nowadays whose popularity is deserved. but burial is definately one of them. much respect for this guy

  • i told a really hot girl to fuck off on new years cos she said this was just noise

  • Great track!

  • Who needs drugs when you got a bass like this to get high on?

  • why u no be hd?!

  • @maf5693 sorry to you and Burial. i don't own the music. just heard it on norwegian radio, 3 years ago, and wanted it to be available on youtube.

  • @ringstt haha your all good i really like burial and hd wasnt an available option back in 2008. I just really like the song

  • @ringstt William worked about two weeks on this so you could post it in few minutes ... great job.

  • @maf5693 This sounds almost exactly like the album version...burial would want this lo-fi anyhow; it used to be a trick of his until very recently

  • Now that I need you...we always need Burial!

  • SHOULD BE LONDON UNDERGROUND BUT, OK

  • 0:06 for chilling sound of a brass casing/the awesome sampling of Burial

  • What brainless moron disliked this!!??

  • Hello everyone im 14 and love producing with a passion, been VERY inspired by Burial lately and producer a track of my own PLEAASSEEE check it out and give feedback!!

    /watch?v=e3jcCwIT52M

  • Is that... A dubway station? XD

  • @TheClockStrikes13 WHAAAAAAAAAY xD

  • @TheClockStrikes13 i see what you did there ;)

  • Just an amazing track.

  • Fucking incredible

  • Speaks to something in modern city life that I've never heard expressed in music before or since.

  • Burial talking about Gary Oldman's movie fills my heart with joy. I love them both to death. True masters of their craft. Beautiful, inspiring people.

  • @portishphonic where did you see/read/hear him talking about that?

  • esa atmosfera ke krea este viejo es inkreible, unika

  • this will never get old to me

  • ...again, and again, and again....

Five years on, will it ever stop!!

  • why burial is so fucking good ?!!

  • the sample is, "now that I need you," from Destiny's Child - 'Emotion'

  • This is the soundtrack to so many fabricated memories...

  • @SaltbearerTG so well put...

  • Takes me far away.

  • Lovely song! Melvynn I need you

  • Malvin now i need you :)

  • 19 people suck at life

  • MELVIN I NEED YOU.

  • @resonance2012 me too

  • Who's Melvin?

  • Epic

  • deep!:)

  • my cousin's friend told me to look this cat up.. not your typical cat though.. I'm definitely not disappointed..

  • Are the words being said "Melvin I need you"? Or something like that... Or maybe I'm just trippin

  • @KernKraft93 now that i need you. but your version is better.

  • @KernKraft93 "now that i need you"

  • @KernKraft93 I think it's "Now that i need you"

  • @aplainwhitewrapper 'Now that I need you'? I've never heard the lyrics as that. I always thought it was 'Never let me dream'. I don't hear them any other way, that's odd. I may be wrong though.

  • @CrazyGuyMeh

Look up some interviews with Burial. He intended the lyrics to be that way, where one time you hear it and think it says on thing, then the next time you listen it says something completely different. Sometimes I hear it as "Never be/been true" but the next second I swear it says "Now that I need you"

Man is a bit of a genius if you ask me.

  • @KernKraft93 "now that I need you" sample from Destiny's Childs-Emotions (0.35), the fact this man can turn a destiny's child sample into this is incredible

  • Unbelievable and sad tune.

  • oh yeah, nuff love blard keep promoting the cause, real music for real people ya understand?? for the love not the money, mad respect, blessid is the beat! HIGHER

    ILL=T - Gravity (Dubstep)

  • Does someone know where I can find the video with this song in it, and all you can see are trains?

  • @SilverdaleDubs I fucking love open-minded people.

  • You have to be mathematically genius to produce such music, gotta love the plain complexity in this.

  • When i heard this tune the first time, i couldnt resist turning up the volume to max, and i had to cry...

  • Skræmmende sindssyg fedt track-

  • 1st Burial track, I ever heard, still one of my top ten fave songs ever.

  • odlično 5 !!!

  • Love it. Nice picture too

  • I know i might be wrong at this part but i hear Flatt beat in it!!

You know that Orange puppet ;). Love the song though!!! =D

  • Reminds me of empty train and through window far, very far i see lights in a fog, So far.

  • Finally, some music that we can all appreciate. I sure am glad its not some dumb mainstream crap, only those that are deaf dont love dubstep.

  • @wafflesarebomb I dont see whats so good about it lmao its the same half second noise repeated over and over for 5 minutes?

  • Five years on, and it still blows my fucking mind!!

There is only one Burial, there will only ever be one Burial...

  • I'm17 years old, 6'5" normally, and I'm built pretty big; sometimes I'll put on my tall shoes and just go walking around the city and just stare at people; they always look away instantly. Makes me feel fucking awesome.

  • @otnomnoraa future rapist

  • @RandyLahey911 I'm gay :)

  • @otnomnoraa dont rape me please

  • @otnomnoraa ur mom does the same when she walks round the area naked showing her hairy vagina >>> people are quick to run away :)

  • @otnomnoraa guess it's shit people like you that contribute to agoraphobia.

  • @otnomnoraa it sounds to me like you enjoy intimidating others. you're a bit wack aren't you.

  • @outputformat A bit. But only the best of us are.

  • @otnomnoraa That's an excellent idea.

  • heard one.... you heard em all... over-rated ? just quietly

  • I waited to pee just to hear this

  • Don't you feel as if this song was talking about life? I can hear birth at the beginning, then just the beat saying "life goes on" and then those sounds saying hope-nothing-hope again-nothing again-strange moment of madness with kind of heartbeats-hope again, etc... and at the end of that, one last call of the voice, and then the same kind of sound than at the beginning: which means "death".

It makes me feel strange and alone, life is like this song only if we run after hope, maybe...

  • @CarelleLeo i have about the same feelings when i listen to a good amount of his albums.

  • East London backstreets, 3am, searching..

  • the way he panned that gun is amazing..

  • Dark, atmospheric, moving - just brilliant!

  • The picture isn't by any chance of the subway stop "Nationaltheateret" in Oslo, Norway, is it? Epic tune.

  • @emoel yes it is. just used a pucture on my phone to upload this beautiful tune :)

  • @ringstt It fits the track pretty nicely actually. Props.

  • @ringstt proper suits the tune!

  • Gods peace to all

  • FUCK BURIAL

    BIG UP MT EDEN

    joke.

  • I just love late night driving in a narrow countryside road, with a BMW and listen to this tune!

  • Thanks KosmynC64, I'm still breathing love light and peace paul

  • Burial backwards spells God.

  • hey guys. i love burial's music and thought about maybe giving 2-step-garage a little more attention; any of you got some artists oder tracks i should listen to? normally i'm more into dubstep like skream does and drum and bass. any hints are appreciated ;)

  • @531345714n rusko coki tc borgore aj-ez benga caspa trg rsd vex'd datsik

  • @warlae thanks dude, but i don't think there's any connection in art between coki and burial :) borgore and datsik are more 'dancefloor' style, in my opinion a little too 'omgwtfmassivedirtygrimebass'^^ i thought about stuff like synkro does. deep, a little haunting, echoic, still stirring..

  • @531345714n I totally agree. I wish there was an artist. To conceptualize music as Burial does simply pure art. But I came to the conclusion that there is none better that burial! UK all the way!!

  • @531345714n try el-b, steve gurley, benny ill, horsepower productions, SBTRKT, indigo, phaelah, eleven tigers, c.r.s.t., submerse, clubroot. just google 'future garage', essentially the genre that has evolved out of dubstep. listen to anything on labels like l2s, night audio, 10,000 yen, monkeytown or well rounded.

  • @531345714n BREAKAGE! YOU NEED BREAKAGE!

  • I don't know where this guy came from, but I pretty much hate other dubstep now

  • wow... i discovered this artist and his music by 100% accident... incredible, i've heard about 17 songs by now and getting more and more impressed. every song takes me out of myself and back to an old world i feel like i have to revisit... i guess true, music can change lives...

  • Burial thank you for letting me listen to the beauties of your mind and world that you see adn live every day

Ringstt thank you for the upload

ANd the rest of you Thank you for enjoying musik with beautiful open minds

  • I just HAVE TO listen to this one at least once a day.

    it's a JUST HAVE TO.

the tube picture couldn't express this song better, even if there's much more than a metro station atmosphere in these sounds. but, here we're going beyond the possibilities of spoken word to describe this tune.

  • BURIAL...MASTER

  • Oh man... wait.. I forgot what I was saying.

  • This guy is something else. These songs blow my mind, they can have so many levels of meaning and emotions its unthinkable. He is inspiring me to make my own music, and I'm going to pour my emotions and heart into it.

  • such deep emotion......

  • i don't believe it! how someone could make something excellent like that! i would say that this music is just to go for a walk with in winter night when the streets are empty and only orange lights are looking at you while walking down the streets...it's just...damn..no words could describe this feeling which i have in this moment!

  • deep shit

  • so... this is music or what?

  • @EpicflyingGZ it is

  • @mrhusi ok then i guess it's just not my thing ^^

  • @EpicflyingGZ No. This is More.

  • From a Burial interview: "I love this film called Nil By Mouth by Gary Oldman because it’s the only film I’ve ever seen anyone get London properly in it, which is just distant lights, down the end of your road. That vibe, but then sometimes I don’t love it."

  • check out "Dusty Speakers" if you love burial..good vibes there :)

  • @MrJackWaters did it one day, ciggarete in my other hand, what a unexplainable feeling.

  • i know several people that are classically trained in instruments like piano and guitar, but can't make electronic music worth a damn. it is an entire different world of art to be honest, and anybody who tries to say one takes more talent than the other is blowing steam out of their ass.

  • @bbillyson it's about practice. good electronic music and good classical music both take a good amount of time to learn; they are completely different worlds. It would be like trying to put a sculptor in a painting studio and expect him to be able to do something as though he had had years of practice with the medium. Both deserve respect, and both are amazing in their own way. They can be compared in that they are both sound, but nothing more.

  • @Nanachchbaubau mate if you played this in a nightclub people would probably run out

  • @morkalbee and if people ran out for example, what does that mean? this track is not a good track, or not for a club? people will run out if listen to commercial shit.

  • @morkalbee

maybe to the night clubs you go to

  • @GuitarJaz WHAT ... !? Did i just heard you mumbling about music theory !? To me, it's a simple case with u, put up or just stfu !! ohh, i forgot to say please. PLEASE STFU !!

  • @GuitarJaz wat the fuk are you on man, no one realy can make music like this thats why burial is unique, now run alang and listen to jaz or somthin

  • @itsNRCJC Haha, you're stupid.

  • @GuitarJaz you're just some washed up loser thinking you're so cool playing guitar blah blah blah, have you taken into consideration that Burial is actually musically educated, & thats why he makes beast chord progression on a synth, not to mention programming the synth himself, & then to top it all off, he mixes it all down to sound clean as fuck & with the texture of tunes like this, is quite hard not clash with frequencies.

  • @itsNRCJC literaly shut up

  • Does anyone know what genre this music belong !? Just wonder.

  • @lostpebble its orignal dubstep, this is where it all began

  • @lostpebble this was dubstep before it was all about who had the biggest wobble and therefore the smallest dick

  • @fbigoose & @pixle500 Thanks mates, but as Dupstep become big, it start to have many variants. Just like Trance. I like some variant (mutant) of Dupstep more than others. But it's great to have so many to choose from, there are a lot of talented & creative artists out there for sure ... Would you not call this Ambient Dupstep !? In hind sight that is. : )

  • Been listening to burial for over two years now, his music is so amazing, i never try to find interviews or see his real face, i think it would kind of break my little fantasy that hes just my thoughts in the form of music, will be playing these out my cdjs when im 50

  • @GuitarJaz Make us something like this if it's so easy?!! I suppose you're one of these people who think's dance/electronica is just some guy pressing buttons?! What Burial captures in his soundscapes is real talent, not many artists can do what he's doing! I look forward to hearing what you come up with- after all it's a piece of piss right??

  • @Brassic9 Hell yeah I could come up with shit like this. You probably could too. With the right computer program. How do you perform this in concert? Press a bunch of buttons that play sounds? Sure it takes emotion, and sure many artists are shit. But what has happened to real music? Now kids get to learn how to play music: with computer programs and drum machines!

  • @GuitarJizz

Oh yea. You win prick of the day.

  • @dunstanfarmer I know, I'm TERRIBLE!

  • @GuitarJaz @Brassic9 You don't know what the fuck you're talking about mate! That's like saying someone that plays the piano is "just some guy pressing keys!" Such an anal attitude to have when it comes to music! I've heard some of Burial's other tunes and they are so melodic and simply just pure pieces of art that touches the souls of so many people! What the fuck have you done? Like i suggested- let's see what you can come up with??

  • @Brassic9 I write songs all the time, I sing them and play my guitar. And piano is actually not pressing a bunch of keys. It's actually a percussion instrument? And it takes real talent, have you heard of sheet music? And btw, did I ever say this DIDN'T "touch souls"? Sure it does. I just said that it doesn't take a lot to make something like this.

  • @GuitarJaz I think you're one of these guys that are so far up your own arse it's no wonder the minute you open your mouth shit comes out! You're missing my point about the piano- Synthetic music isn't just a case of pressing buttons, you still use a keyboard the same way you do to create what your doing! You keep saying it doesn't take a lot to make this kind of music, so make us something?? And why are you asking me about sheet music? I think this is all about your ego and less about music!!

  • @GuitarJaz - 'Talent' means excelling in a particular field of interest...being good at something popular or desirable. It doesn't have anything to do with complexity. If you judge music on the complexity of its content, you need to re-assess what music means to you. It's all about provoking feelings, capturing moods and creating atmosphere...not how many notes you can fit into each bar. You could make the most complicated piece of music ever, and it's quite possible nobody would like it.

  • Comment removed

  • @GuitarJaz make something better then...

  • @KorusUK Actually I do. With my voice and my guitar. Using music theory, too. Do you know what that is?

  • The people that dont like this are the people that dont know anything about audio production.

  • This song is meant to be listened to when walking down the middle of a street-lit deserted street. 2:46 is just amazing.

  • whats that in the beginning? a commando sharpening his knife and cocking back a gun as a shell falls to the ground? i hear alot of these kinds of sounds in his tracks and in music made by kryptic minds aswell, i wonder why? why add such a weird element? any one have an idea????????????

  • one of the best tracks to ever grace a set of headphones - pure ethereal audio bliss

  • this music goes beyond life, beyond death

she is like a touch of heaven and hell.........absolutely fascinating

  • ....ahhhh....great, i love this man....and thinking that him do everething with not so super equipment....wow !!!!

  • His music is so timeless. Sad I just found him today.

  • @MrHakaiDo better late than never

  • Burial's music, even though it is labeled as dubstep, is far more than what dubstep actually MEANS nowadays.Although,I must admit that sometimes I have the feeling that his beats ...tend to sound the same.

  • I got buried!

  • When i die, i want this song played at my funeral.

  • Driving from my work, at saturday night, before we go to a club, in my car. A moment for myself to relax with this phenomenal music. The detail Is insane. Sometimes I seem to wake up, and notice I'm a few miles further down the road from the point I last remember. It's a kind of drug. But a perfect one, without the side effects. I never wrecked my car. The road is full of bends. It charges my energy like a 8 hour nap.

  • Movement through minimalism....reminiscent of pole, but this is a great direction for dub.

  • I adore walking around in the late night while listening to this tune. I love it when it feels like I have the town all to myself. Feeling the brisk air fill my lungs whenever I take a deep breath. Alleviate all the problems of life by just chilling the fuck out for a few moments. Alone.
