  • Great stuff! Delta was always a class act! Sure do miss being a part of it all.

    Bill Felt

Piedmont Airlines, Retired ATL, MSY, LGA

  • OUTSTANDING !! ONE OF MANY TEAR JERKER YOUTUBE VIDEOS ON DELTA. I WAS

A VERY HAPPY DAL EMPLOYEE IN MSY 1964-2000. DELTA WAS DIFFERENT FROM

THE OTHERS. WE WERE TRULY LIKE FAMILY MEMBERS WHO CARED FOR EACH OTHER AND WORKED AS A TEAM. LOTS OF CHANGES IN THE INDUSTRY, BUT

THE FLIGHT ATTENDANTS THEN AND NOW ARE BEAUTIFUL HARD WORKING LADIES.

THIS VIDEO CELEBRATES OUR "GIRLS" AND I TOAST YOU. I'M ALWAYS LOOKING

FORWARD TO MY NEXT FLIGHT. SEE YOU SOON !! LET'S ROLL.

  • Oh! my gosh! Great memories....how wonderful it all was! I loved every minute and it does make one feel sad to see what has happened to our industry and the quality of it.....these day. Mimi Newton Boney - Class of 58........

  • Love it.

  • Delta Flight Attendants were younger and prettier in the past. Today, most of them are in their 50s and 40s....

  • Deltas’ first Stewardess, Birdie Perkins, was hired in 1940. The airline continued to use females in this position until the first Purser was hired in 1946. The term Flight Attendant came to use in the 1970s. I don’t remember the name of the first black Stewardess hired by Delta, but it was sometime in the mid-sixties as I remember.

  • Memories are made of this...

This seems to indicate Delta had female "stewardesses" (later "flight attendants") first, males later (picture of male "purser")? I believe Piedmont started with male stewards (perhaps because some were already pilots trained, and waiting cockpit billets?) and later came the female "stewardesses"? Did Delta have females first, followed by the males?

Note the ageing (and weight) progression as the pictures become more current. Who was Delta's first black F/A?

  • this video is absolutely beautiful and it really takes you back in time through delta's years FABULOUS FABLULOUS FABULOUS VIDOEO, I LOVE IT!!!!!! Thanks for posting it.

  • I think being an flight attdent in the 70s and 80s and 90s would be an blast now it seems boring

  • After 20 years as Original Delta, I LOVED this! We sure have come a long way!

  • Outstanding! When Air travel was something you saved your money for and thought of as a privilege! Something America has forgotten is the training their Flight Attendants must endure to win their "Wings". Bless them all!!!

  • Not likely since the movie is not shown on your favorite site!!!!

  • Love it!

Thanks for sharing. It's getting hard up there

    in the sky. The job ain't what it used to be;

but this made me feel proud.

    From American Airlines.

  • Yes, it has been terrible to witness the destruction of our industry and to see the degradation of what were the best jobs in the world. Thanks for all you do for the profession. The tribute is richly deserved.

  • Beautiful!

  • Often overlooked, but we are blessed by there presence everytime we fly! Thanks for the BEAUTIFUL tribute!

  • Yes, that is correct. I have one of the limited addition prints of "Night Coach" Neil painted some great shots of Delta airplanes.

  • The opening photo showing the L-1011 flying toward the new moon?....I have the original oil painting! It's called "Night Coach" and it was painted by a Delta Captain....Neil Gatewood.

  • Missy,

I'm glad you enjoyed seeing your mother on my Tribute video. I'm sure this brings back fond memories for her as well.

    Ron

  • I recieved a phone call from my brother to tell me our mother is on the internet, I found it hard to believe, but there she is!

standing on the top of the steps, shaking hands with a lady, my mother's name is Betty Jean Williams.

  • @missy3747 Is the Mom shaking hands with another flight attendant while standing at the top of the stairs to the plane?

  • @dakarbelle

yes that is her,......1.24. on the timer deal......I miss her.

  • Nice work, Ron!!

  • Thanks for you nice comments. I'm glad you were treated so well on Delta. The video was meant to pay tribute to all flight attendants throughout the world. My wife was a flight attendant for Eastern Air Lines back in the early sixties.

    Happy Retirement,

    Ron

  • I retired in June of 2002 from TWA/AA after so many wonderful years with TWA!! I've non rev'd on DL and let me tell you, DL folks are the best!!!! They treated me with kindness, and were very professional. YOu did a great job with this video, and I was touched by it! I was glad to have flown for TWA but was always looking forward to dead head to LAX on DL from SAN! Thanks for the memories! God Bless

  • Great job!! Well done!!

  • Youdid a great job compiling those photographs, and integrating the music and comments.

I can understand why you were so proud to have flown for the airline - the camaraderie you all shared made Delta a GREAT airline to work in.

    Thanks.

  • GREAT job, Ron! Brought tears to my eyes on my 59th birthday and it sure wasn't the birthday... What an incredible walk back through some of the greatest years of my life! Carlotta IAH/ATL/DFW 1974 - 2005

  • Thanks to everyone for the nice comments about the flight attendant tribute. I have been overwhelmed by the number of email messages I have received and the flood of emotion this tribute has unleashed in incredible. This makes it all worthwhile.
