  • like this movie bt the ending one is a bit unsatisfied but its good to watch a movie from our culture and language..i also dont understand our language bt i lov to watch such types of movie..thanks for posting this movie on youtube

  • @punamiee that's because we Mongolian(rai-limbu-gurung-magar-newar-tamang-thakali, etc mother tongue is Tibeto-burmese in nature. Linguistic expert and anthropologist have classified our languages under the Tibeto-Burmese category.

But after the founding of modern Nepal by P.N Shah we indigenous Nepalese was made to learn Nepali(khas-bhasa). Hence the indigenous Nepali slowly lost their culture, religion and language as a result. We have a mountain to scale to save our heritage & identity.

  • Hi, I also belong to bantawa rai but I dont know abt rai. 1st time, am seeing rai film. this seems good but the sound made me quite funny to hear :-) Thanks for upload.

  • There are still many names of places in Kathmandu which were derived from Kirati words.Originally Newars are descendants of Kiratis. Later they got mixed up with Licchavis and the language was influenced by Maithali and Sanskrit. During Indrajatra, you can still see "Aakash Bhairav" displayed outside most of the procession places in Kathmandu. Newars call it "Aaju Dya" which means great grand father or forefather God. "Aakash Bhairav" is believed to be the incarnation of Yalamber.

  • lol it kindof sounds korean as well.. hehe

  • are you promoting Rai or Bantawa?

I am Rai but i do not understand Bantawa language. So what' s so big deal about promoting Bantawa?

This is one big problem among Rais.

Instead of coming together to form One United Rai and Kirat eventually, we are always looking for way to separate ourselves.

  • lol am half bantawa half korean... mah dad is bantawa rai... and he tells me bout different inter races,, inside rai as well..

sadly i have never been to nepal....

  • Rai is a family of Kirat or a Kirata confederation that includes the Limbu, Rai, Yakkha and Sunuwar ethnic groups of Nepal.

Within Rai, they are many clans. Some of them are Bantawa, Chamling, Sampang, Thulung, Khaling, Puma, Dumi, Praya, Lohorung, Baahing, Yaamphu, Naachhiring, Sotang, Dhimal, Chepang, Thami, Khulung, Hayu, Makurang, Koch, and much, much more which i cannot remember.

  • wow thats a lot.....

  • there are many but still we are Kirat Rai. the more you know the more it is interesting. Please visit to Nepal sometimes and know your roots, being Kirat Rai, and being bantawa or some other clans, it is always good to know what you are, what kind of language your ancestors spoke, what culture, tradition, beliefs, etc they followed. you will be proud of yourself.

  • dilipji, it is not about promoting bantawa. Actually this video was provided to us by a Chamling dai and we uploaded it, it is that simple. We were happy to see a movie in one of our Rai language. be it Bantawa or chamling or thulung or khaling or whatever, we should not feel so unsecure or threatening to each other. there about 30 rai languages, we should love all languages. our speciality is we are so diverse in langauges. we should unite at the same time we need to learn love each other.

  • it is not a big problem Dilip. Think how we flourished in different groups like bantawa, chamling, thulung etc, n moreever bantawa is the most forwarding language among rai language right. So please be proud., dont lose your faith.
