Its almost identical "Give me the night" from DJ Phats, released on Stress Records back in 94 I think. The poster just seems to have either reworked it to match Phats original or has simply chucked some effects all over Phats' remix.
Either way, I wouldnt say its Wack per se. I would say its a pretty middle of the road disco house nodder from back in the day.
As a DJ from a more recent generation I have come to the conclusion that my tendencies for the types of soulful music Ive come to gravitate toward stem from the melodies I have been hearing since quite some time before I started paying mind to lyrics. I used to hear this when in department stores as a child and remember asking my mother what it was that I was hearing. She continued to explain to me how there was an explosion of soulful music back before I was born. I love this track!
@tedmuss Its a dance adaption of the original for godsake.....get over it. Yes we all know that the original is THE song.....I grew up listening to George Benson.
@rockyboy220 get over it!?...ha, this is the remix equivelant of manufactured pop bands, if it was a good remix I would have favourited it, this is empty and souless...
the intro sounds like "pure love" go around to the middle and back again I'm gonna be there to the end 100% pure love. This sucks, but I love the original version.

@binladensassassin hahahahah thats what i was asking why destroy such a classic song, straight up this makes a guy wear a suit smoke a cigar and look debonaire
boom tss CLAP tss boom tss CLAP tss boom tss CLAP tss boom tss CLAP tss boom tss CLAP CLAP. This is the reason why people listen to old music in the first place. Why has everybody got to be a freakin DJ? Smoke a giant doobie, spend thirty minutes on a computer, then you think you're some kind of genius.
@ajdicks They are some of the greatest artists in house music, they made simply genius tunes with vocals, real instruments and alot of soul. They are legends, every generation has its legends they are way up there like GB was in his time. This example is a remix and a DJ tool though, it should be used in a DJ set, in a club, not played like a whole song so conservatives like you can judge it.
@timmyvamsterdam This DJ is not even ten percent as talented as George Benson. Those of us who went to clubs in the late 80's and early 90's are so sick of this kick, high hat, and hand clap that it automatically destroys the DJ's credibility. Trust me, there are twelve year olds who could do what this DJ did. It's worthless
@ajdicks Well I went to clubs from the mid 90's till now and saw the music evolve. Im not saying this is a good tune, tbh I think its cheesy and flat. That doesnt change the fact that what masters of work did is great (which was my point, I doubt wheter this is masters at work anyway). At least half of there work isnt even 4 to the floor, they worked under names like Sole, KenLou, Fusion, and Nuyorican Soul.
@ajdicks And yes, just like funk ,disco and even jazz. House (and hiphop) had alot of gimmicky shit artists. A small percentage is unique though and they made timeless soulfull tunes. We went thru the technological revolution and it isnt strange that people now use computers to make their music, in the end they are only instruments. What do you think people thought of jazz in the 30's and 40's? How much of that music do we still know? Only the greatest!
@timmyvamsterdam The push button DJ's, samplers, trancers, and remixers will be forgotten and discarded. I think Daft Punk, Massive Attack, Portishead, and Aphex Twin are very talented. The rest of it is 99% garbage. Real singers, guitarist, pianists, bass guitarists, live drummers, and brass players will always have a place in popular music.
@ajdicks to name a few (daft punk, aphex) who got completely inspired by Detroit and Chicago, george clinton, kraftwerk etc. who all worked with computers and synths. I mean, daft punk never did anything special, they only added a poppy element to music that was allready there(house/techno)and they work with samples. In their song teachers they also name masters at work. (kenny dope, louie vega) You cannot discredit the electronic music revolution by refering to bad trance, dont be conservative,
@timmyvamsterdam Daft Punk and Aphex have literally started with nothing and created something unique. Sampling old records is more the salt and pepper for them than the whole basis of the song. I find the trance genre to be boring and derivative and simplistic. If you can recommend 2 or 3 trance CD's that contain original melodies, harmonies, and unique drum programming I will reconsider. I just don't have time to sift through all the mediocrity.
@ajdicks For the roots of the music you should look in the direction of Detroit Techno/Electro and Chicago house. Dont get me wrong, I dont hate on daft punk, they gave the music that was always kept for the happy few a much broader audience and there is nothing wrong with that. If you listen to the song teachers by daft punk you hear them name a bunch of my favorite artists from detroit and chicago, this music is from the poor black communitys over there.
@ajdicks Some of my favorite 'oldschool' artists are Isolee, Juan Atkins (cybotron), Autechre, Dopplereffect, phuture 303 and some, not all (like this one), masters at work productions. Offcourse there are alot I forgot about, I dont have my record collection here. Nowadays I think the french are doing some interesting stuff (justice, teenage bad girl etc). Offcourse live music stil has its place but the posibilitys of synths and comps are endless and only a fraction of that is exploited. peace
this is NOT a MAW remix. It is WAY to lame and cheesy to be a MAW remix...sorry guys. I swear it is NOT and everyone who loves Louie & Kenny would know, that they wouldnt do some a lame one....
B) Loving a specific house sound is one thing i.e. maw, but underestimating another one is a totally different story. At least try not to be disrespectful.
Whoa, this is house music. House came from the chicago disco and funk scene in the 80's, and techno from detroit. Masters at Work were a legendary duo that actually collaborated with Benson using their Nuyorican Soul moniker, producing You Can Do It Baby. Peep that track - it's hot. As far as techno, like any genre, it's been ruined by the mainstream, while the best and most creative producers go largely overlooked.
i don't know, speeding up the bpm kind of ruins the groove. i love maw, but some songs just aren't as good when remixed. same with a lot of older r&b jams, just don't stand up to the increase in tempo.
