Home schooling Free it is not free. There are texts that need to perched or rented. Lesson plans to be made, so the education will flow some what. Testing to make sure the student is learning at grad or above, DEPENDING on how bad the local school system is.
The schooling must meet or exceed pubic school so that the kid can get into college at the end of home schooling. It is all doable. Home schooling will need access to; chemistry lab, physic lab, biology labs geology labs, Computer labs.
Home Schooling under a NWO fascist government will be made illegal. They are working on this VERY hard...almost as hard as seizing ALL guns. Expect ARRESTS of home schoolers.
I got into the University of Missouri, which is fairly competitive, and the classes aren't too bad. Of course, I haven't had to do a lot of papers relative to even my pre-transfer university Capital (in Columbus, OH). It's only got 3000 students and is very small, but somehow I had to do A LOT more papers and such in just one year than I've had to do total here at MU. Go figure.
I think I could do fine at Ivy League if I put in some effort. However, I was denied from a few.
I hate how colleges use SAT and ACT test scores as a big measure of whether or not applicants are "ready" and should be admitted. I mean, those tests are really more of a measure of how much they remember ALL that material and have studied for it weeks before. It doesn't prove that they're necessarily smarter than kids who got lower scores. I mean, I get a 3.8-4.0 GPA on average, but my ACT score was 24 out of 36. I'd say I'm pretty intelligent, not to brag or anything.
State and federal DOE mandate funding and create all these new programs to encourage "efficiency" when they fail to realize that it's BECAUSE of extreme government influence, esp. from teh feds, that the system is so screwed up. They put too much emphasis on test-taking and memorization than critical thinking and actual learning.
And then teachers sometimes bitch to their students about "being too concerned with grades"? Well, yeah! Grades can make or break you! I wouldn't blame them.
Nice! Fuck gov't schools. Stupid shit like "group activities" in K-12 is obviously a ploy to get kids to get all used to being part of the collective rather than promoting individualism. I hated that group shit. Being in a classroom blows, public or private. You gotta be around 20 or so other kids, many of whom you'd rather be away from, for an hour at a time. Or if it's elementary, you gotta hang around them all day. If I could do homeschool before college, I would've definitely.
I'm glad that at least one big talk show host, Neal Boortz, has the courage to call them what they are- government schools. Not "public" schools. There's really nothing "public" about them. The only "public" part is that they're available to just about anyone in the area who wants to go and are free. But citizens don't get much more say in public schools than with private. School boards constantly ignore the wishes of parents and act like THEY know everything that's best.
nhliberty should start a new ranking for people who are such a threat that they could start a revolution. they should call them, "powder kegs," or " fire starters." Something to signify how dangerous an individual legislator could be to freedom.
Isn't the point that there is no one answer that is "best" for everyone?
I taught my daughter to read at 3. She's present 4 grade levels above her peers in reading, 3 grades ahead in math, but only because that's what she can do not because I'm any kind of tyrant.
Kids are far more capable of learning than government schools (or most government school graduates) can understand.
The schools often cater for a one size fits no one scheme. 1to1 tutorials are always better and only parents can be bothered to do that.
However, social skills are learnt at school, although this is debatable with the amounts of jocks and nerds... neither group seeming perfect. But kids should know how to get into a fight, talk tough, compete and come under stress without failing. This cannot be taught by parents and its probably all the time this frees up, that allows the kid to enjoy learning
One is social the other is carrier based. Lets not forget about love interests, fitness, team working and learning how to respect those more intelligent without falling in love with them like you would your parents; this is probably the psychological reason why kids sometimes call teachers mom or dad, by accident.
Yeah really I'm home schooled me and my father couldn't take the bored of ed anymore about 1/4 of the female students were pregnant, i was one of the few who didn't have an arrest record
In order to support the socialization myth, you have to use hyperbole and red-herrings.
You've done that.
Homeschooling is simply parents (or guardians) ensuring the best opportunities to learn.
You are attacking what you do not understand.
Students always teach themselves, environment doesn't change that. What environment can do is remove the opportunities to learn, by distracting with bells, bullies, sleep deprivation and broken parental bonds.
"But kids should know how to get into a fight, talk tough, compete and come under stress without failing. This cannot be taught by parents"
this is not true the kids deal with that kind of stuff out side of the class room no different then if a kid is learning at home he still has friends and all the same things can happen fights talking tough that stuff has very little to do with education
Only half the battle is knowing what your talking about the other half is expression.
When a kid says he hates his mom or dad, does he mean it? Will he take action to fix the situation? Will he be banned from education that day, or will he be unable to study?
There are two ways to improve your childs intellect without home schooling, ensuring there is plenty of private reading, and tutoring the child on every assignment until they are independent.
There is also home schooling, where there is plenty of private reading, and tutoring on assignments until they are independent.
My wife was converted to home-schooling by one simple act: She spent time in a public school, working with the students and watching the teachers work with them.
She was so disgusted she came home and told me that she would NEVER do that to her own children. It would be child abuse.
Which is exactly what coercive public school is: Child abuse.
all I'm saying is how did kids learn 100 years ago when they could think on there Owen and good parenting teaches expression teachers don't at least I have not seen the class on expression besides if a kid says I hate u mom/dad and did not learn any thing that day I see no difference than him saying I hate u teacher and not learn any thing that day
besides kids are by nature immature ignorant and chemically imbalanced it's the nature of growing up and by learning from your mistakes and being taught along the way that is how u get through it all u don't need a "teacher" u just need people around u who care and can teach like family friends and mentors now I'm not saying ban teachers but this nation wide education system is sick and getting sicker "to each there Owen" the more ways someone can get education the better diversity is the key
True, I think that they should just burn down all the public schools and some private universities and stop funding them. Home schooling is the way to go. I was homeschooled. For one year i tried public school and that has messed me up. I went back homeschooling. I am now 18 years old, finished my first year at college and am a investor. I love my parents, even though we sometimes argue. I think we should reform this country from the ground up instead of starting at health care and such.

you forgot the largest part, homeschoolers pay taxes for public schools even though their children are not in a public school.

I think that homeschooling isnt necessarily the best answer to the education problem in the US; people need a little bit of competition.
But i believe in peoples right to choose without force nor fine.

Ah, the "socialization" myth.
Next time you get into a homeschool discussion, just say you believe in "socialization" and everyone will know exactly what you're talking about.
They will then ignore you, because it has been discussed to DEATH. It's a myth, get over it.
CurtHowland 2 years ago
Just because something has been 'done to death' never qualifies it as a myth, the 9/11 conspiracies are a prime example.
So what? You don't need to learn to communicate and express yourself in a stressful social setting?
Not everything can come out of books. In this perfect world, orphans would have no education!
