  • ulver sends me back to my intensend dream, where i turn from men into a wolf and i run and run and run and i saw my shadow at the ground, the shadow was -------- wolfy.........

it was the greatest feeling i ever had in a dream - ok, an orgasm was even the same

  • best use of thunderclap sound in a song

  • the girl is lost in the forest and is scared shitless.

  • 3:46 - 5:25

Sounds like someone's getting a mean blow job!

  • 37.000 views, 2 dislikes. beat that.

  • Yeah 2:06 makes me jump every time I hear the song haha.

  • garm is fuckin awesome!!!

  • at 5:00 eatin chips.

  • @JesusDiedlol667 Yep, it's a repetitive genre, but the song got a great atmosphere

  • @JesusDiedlol667 That's the point bro

  • Comment removed

  • @JesusDiedlol667 The only genres who use less repetition than average are prog, jazz, and classical music and even they rely on loosely repetitive themes and structures. Though, I highly doubt you listen to such genres.

  • @SCman1337 Nope. I'm expanded on my taste in black metal quite a lot since I posted that last comment. I'v really listened to all the bands that I like. I do actually appreciate ulver's second album for being being such a unique piece of black metal. It's like pure acoustic and not heavy at all.

  • ulver rules but i cannot still make clear their genre today

  • That thunder crack at 2:07 gives me a fright every time I listen to this song, without fail. XD

  • @Liolar43 haha! same here! LOL

  • These guys inspired me to just play the guitar and see what happens, now I suggest the same to any guitar players. Ulver is metamorphosis, that's one thing they understand that other bands don't

  • cool, 112 likes and 0 dislikes :)

  • Superb song from a Superb album. A great place to ease into the Black Metal sub-genre. Check out my video review, if you like. I agree with the poster, this is one of Ulver's finest moments. Thanks for posting this.

  • 2:06 was the sound of Eurononymous dying.

  • Halfway through it sounds like someone eating cereal xD

  • great memories...the last guitar riff its incredible

  • Every fucking time I hear 2:06 I jump out of my skin. It's like they're saying "hey, we know we're good enough to put you to sleep, but wake the fuck up and finish the album, bitch." but all poetic, and shit.

  • I love this fucking sound

    that bass is simply incredible

I already scare at 2:06 and that sound make me feel angry and something deep

  • @Majinga yes, i anticipate that sound so much, and every time i shit my pants

  • DISMALLLLLL

  • I always think that piano is being played near me on the radio or something.. and then I release I'm listening to it! Weird : )

  • ulver is just great all the fases.. but thats the most awesome of course

  • GREAT stuff

  • 1 word .

    W-O-W

  • this album almost makes me cry, lol. how could they stop making black metal?

  • Listen to the bass!!! Awesome! Fucking awesome!

  • Everyday I learn more and more bands like this one. Thanks

  • This is a beauty icon of etic black metal , includes everything magic and strong ideology I love the "crash plates" uffff reaspero sonido brutal magia..jejejeje

    salud.

  • Ulver is beautiful.

  • it's fantastic

  • Even the part in the middle where Garm's sister walks on chips in the forest is great

  • Amazing song!

    Fantastic Album!!!

  • Title translates to:

    "Wolfgaze she grew wary"

feel free to pm me for decent translations

  • is wolfgaze even a word???

  • hehe, just as much as "Graablick" anyway. Its common to take the artistic freedom to make up descriptive words in this genera. As long as they convey some sort of meaning I dont see a problem with it. (newspapers are also notoiously famous for this)

  • Who cares, Garm is awesome.

  • @kralle333 no it's a new genre

  • @guest1754 No

  • @guest1754 im gonna start a wolfgaze band now, it's gonna be totally tr00 wolf

  • @theartofdoom haha lol

  • @haerverk Well, I put up the translations to every song off Bergtatt, and loosely translated the title means 'She Becomes Aware of a Grey Gaze'.

  • @LEG0B0Y Well, it works as well, but all of it's poetic quality is lost in that translation. "Graablick" is a purely poetic word that you wont find in any dictionary.

  • @LEG0B0Y i think the official translation said "she senses eyne of grey" so that was pretty close...

  • @haerverk I'm not sure where you get the "wolf" bit from, unless you're including the band's name in there. "She noticed she was being watched" would be a more fitting, if less literal translation.

  • @DTaurelion "graa" (grey) is an archaic form for "wolf"´, as in graabein (grey-leg) for instance.

  • @haerverk Interesting, I didn't know that.

  • fantastic song. very epic feel to the intro.

  • This is even better than a masterpiece!

  • Wolves.

  • its true

  • Ulver is one of the greatest bands out their.

    Long Live Ulver !!!!!!!!

  • black metal is actually a more suprisingly flexible genre than most realize. Yes, some bands have supposedly "defined" the black metal sound, but you will soon find with a deeper look into this artistic genre that bands such as ulver, or xasthur, or anything else even less out of the expected, can be just as true to the genre. Hail black metal and all it's raw power, beauty, and, as bleugsa said thoughtfully, inspiration! Hail Ulver! \m/

  • is this the "true norwegian black metal"? cause i thougt all black metal was like, for example, gorgoroth- no melody at all, just fast, angry, satanistic and primitively anywhay. This stuff here seems amazing with the combination of metal and acoustic parts. not less hard, but...inspiring?

  • hey, layman like myself:) doing some initial research here too. i have to agree, i really like what i'm hearing.

  • NO MELODY AT ALL? train your ear, there is plenty of melody. Gorgoroth has actually very well constructed riffs.

  • actually?

    Antichrist,pentagram,Under the Sign of Hell

  • I am new to ulver. I have been a longtime fan of early darkthrone i.e. under a funeral moon and transylvanian. Also Burzum and emperor...well, i like most black metal. It astonishes me that these guys arent mentioned in any of the bm documentaries!

  • Search for '' Det svarte alvor'' on youtube. It's a norweigan black metal documentary from 1994. It features Ihsahn(From Emperor),Hellhammer(From Mayhem),Garm/Kristopher(From ulver)

  • The album art is as captivating as is the music.

  • is there a cannon on this :S or not? the loud explosion ?

  • I think that's supposed to be thunder. Either that or the microphone stand fell over. ;D

  • @LEG0B0Y It sounds like a gun shot more than thunder, in my opinion.

  • I got this album about a month ago and it is an absolute masterpiece!!

Bergtatt is to me the best black metal album ever written. but the 1996 stormblast is a close second.

bergtatt has so much atmosphere it cant be explained!

I really wish i could find it on lp somewhere!!

  • where did you buy this album???

I really want to know lol XD

  • Ebay lol.

Does anyone know if i can find this on vinyl by itself so i dont have to stick $400 into the Black Metal Trilogie Boxed Set?

    I really wanna know!

  • fuck......this track is so amazing!!!

  • I never thought black metal can be so atmospheric...

From now on, I'm listening to earlier black metal

  • then you have to listen to the original 1996Stormblast- Album from Dimmu Borgir. Very athmospheric!

Very nice song thx for posting

  • Well that's funny that you mention that, because I own Stormblast :D

Incredible piece of black metal, huh?

  • yeah, I think it is the best Album all over the world. But Ulvers first albums are very nice too

  • Stormblast is great, yeah :D

    BUT GO ULVER AS WELL

  • Stormblast is overrated... cheesy noodling with the synthesizers, and the song's aren't really going anywhere.

The riffs aren't really good either.

  • I really love the Bergtatt. IMO Ulver's best album.

  • You've got to remember that the lyrics to this album are in Danish, not Norwegian.

  • tha'ts not entirely true.

Norway was a part of denmark from 1660 to 1814, and in that time the norwegian language was almost entirely danish. so it is supposed to be that language. Also, it incorporates old icelandic kindof elder norwegian some places.

  • This one is very strange . But Garm's vocals are amazing in this one ! Also very nice, but imo not the best of the album ... I'm a Capitel V fan ^^ .

  • a translation (not perfect):

from the distance she's being watched

    eyes, cold grey stares

    while the moon silently glides

    the girl:

    i can feel cold eyes

what am i aware - must be quick

before magic me with force takes

    eyes keeps her still

watches her curiously from the distance

  • the world is snow - quiet alone she breathes her heart beats the blood freezes in her veins those from underground: the source of sorrow is resting on the trees dressed in thorns she is as beautiful as a virtue her dream invites sunshine on her white cheeks on the mouths that no longer smiles tears flow in rivers when the world sleeps
  • this is as said not a perfect translation, more a straigh-forward one. this is a very hard song to translate into english anyway

  • Oh my... A song with the complete range of Garm's vocals, with breath-taking guitars, bass and drums. This is created to make people have beautiful feelings. I have been listening to this album for a year now and I just can't get over this song's ending riffs... If there is an eternal album, this is the one.

  • The Underground:

    "Sørrig Source rests

    On the torn forested Treer

She is so vacker een Virtue

    Hands Dream Solspell indvier "

    On these hvide Kinder

    On this smiilforladte Mund

    Taarerne In rivers flow

    Naar world I nod

and the rest. thats what google translate came up with..

  • this is the 2nd part

  • this is awesome. i wish i knew norwegian to understand the lyrics and all. i love norwegian black metal.

  • Pigen: "I mark Cold uyne What is I was - must be the keyboard shortcut For Trolldomskraft me with Power takes " Uine holder may endnu Seer from nysgierrig Fjernhed American Nat iiser Naar Sound lig hylende Varg set Thunder rolls (Angsten flare) The world is Sneen - set Alleen her spirits Hierteslag banks Iisner blood in the years
  • Probably one of the greatest songs of all time! \m/

  • Jeg elsker denne sang!...
