The so called "turbulence" is actually something known as a "wingtip vortice". Wingtip vortices are tubes of circulating air that are left behind a wing as it generates lift.

the smoke twists behind the tips of the wings, when you fly any aircraft, these wind swirls as you might call them, help create more lift when you get near the ground, it's exactly the lenge of your wingspan. if you get to that or less than that of the ground. you will get the ground effect, which will create more lift because the turbulence you are creating goes back around under your wings, natural air flow is disturbed by the ground....just for those that don't know that fly smallplane behind
