I dont see the point of open carry the gun. The main purpose of a legal gun carrier is personal defense. Open carrier Citizen (with no authority at all over common citizens) are exposing the gun to possible or potential agressors, so the first step of a criminal will be kill you and neutralize your weapon, the commit the planned crime. The best chance you have is to have your weapon concealed and use it with the surprise element on your favor. Exersising your rights in this regard are pointless.

I agree with open carry (I live in W.Va.), but the cop does have the right to ask for I.D., not to "See" if you are a felon, but to see if you have any warrants. Hate to say it, but this time the cop did nothing illegal. They can run your ID anytime to check for open warrants.

I dont see the point of open carry the gun. The main purpose of a legal gun carrier is personal defense. Open carrier Citizen (with no authority at all over common citizens) are exposing the gun to possible or potential agressors, so the first step of a criminal will be kill you and neutralize your weapon, the commit the planned crime. The best chance you have is to have your weapon concealed and use it with the surprise element on your favor. Exersising your rights in this regard are pointless.

@ultimatedjflorida (CONTD) population and challenging our police is NOT conducive to good gun relations in our country. Nobody (cops or citizens) wants you carrying if you're an aggressive or inciteful whackadoo. You can expect to be stopped & questioned when you carry openly in public. That's what we expect our cops to do, to ensure you're legal. You need to cooperate & show you're on the side of the very law which gives you the right to carry your wpn, rather than some dangerous nut job.

If the California open carriers had use some personal restraint and common sense, and limited their open carrying to places like the woods, and other non-populated rural areas, they would still be able to open carry today. Instead they had to go into places like downtown L.A with a gun on their hip. So now they passed a law banning handgun open carry .THAT CAN HAPPEN HERE IN FLORIDA TOO... PLEASE DON'T MUCK IT UP.. Laws can be changed with the stroke of a pen... OPEN CARRIERS BEWARE...
