Greinke should win the Cy Young Award no doubt. He is electric, and it's not his fault he plays on the Royals. He has 31 starts as of now and he has given up 3+ runs 1 time. He has 6 complete games and 5 shutouts. He has struck out 16 batters in 7 2/3 innings. Sadly, since CC Sabathia is on the east coast and he plays for the Yankees, he will win the award. Baseball Fans: LOOK AT THE NUMBERS NOT THE TEAM!! Go Royals!!!!

I don't even know why people use a player's team's record to judge them whether they deserve it or not. If Greinke or Mauer played on the Yankees and put up THE EXACT SAME numbers, how does it make them more valuable???

Because they wouldn't put up the same numbers. If a hitter performs at the same level but has more men on base ahead of him he gets more RBIs. If a pitcher gets more runs supporting him he gets more wins. I'm not saying a player should be judged by his team, but I am saying that a good team can turn a great player into a legendary one.

Joe Mauer deserves the MVP more than Jeter, Teixeira, Bay, and whoever. That's obvious.

Zack Greinke deserves the CY Young (and should be higher up in MVP voting than any pitcher) over ANYONE. Take a look at his ridiculous 210 ERA+

So, Mauer and Greinke are your clear cut winners.

Bingo. MAuer and Greinke deserve the MVP and CY. THey've been the best hitter, and best pitcher in the AL. NO reason for Jeter to even be in the discussion. He has like the 6th best OPS on his own team. If Jeter is an MVP candidate, so is Cano. The voters are pretty awful though, so I could see them screwing it up this year, they do so almost every season

Greinke does have the better ERA and he's gettin it done with the less-than-stellar Royals' offense backing him up.

I somewhat agree. It would take a lot for a pitcher to win an MVP award. Right now I'd say Greinke's numbers are more than worthy of said award, but Mauer's putting up unbelievable numbers, plus he's a catcher. I just felt like pointing it out since Greinke's having a fantastic year.

Not just candidate. He should win it no doubt, except he'll get nudged because of that incredibly stupid W/L statistic. The writers last year put Edinson Voulquez on their ballot for rookie of the year (he finished third) when he wasn't even a rookie!
