The "Mother Ship" PC party is entirely rudderless. Morton pushed through hugely unpopular legislation that he is now actively fighting against as a leadership candidate. I'm thinking too much Morton support has bled off to the Wildrose, so it looks like the PCs will be stuck with Gary" I hand out $400,000 contracts to friends" Mar. Not a bright future. Danielle is the future.
Has the PC party been effective in standing up for Alberta? Have any of the major parties stood up against the vilification of Alberta by Canada? By Americans? By the many international forces attacking Alberta? Have they taken the battle to those aligned against Alberta?
If Alberta is to not follow the path of other oil rich nations they will need to look out for Alberta first. No one else will.
Which party is willing to take a stand for Alberta? Which party will speak for Alberta?
Oh and in Stelmach's resignation speech, he referred to the Wildrose Alliance as an "extremist" party - a party Morton said he agrees with 80% of the time.
Does Morton agree with Stelmach's characterization? And if not, why would he support a man as his cabinet minister, who considers 80% of what he believes, extremist?
Morton keeps asserting that there are two conservative parties in Alberta. But the PC's confiscate private property, support government censorship of newspapers, centralization of healthcare, deficit spending and of course mismanaging natural resources.
There is no vote splitting if the only true conservative party is the Wildrose Alliance. Morton betrayed his principles when he voted for the Stemach agenda (and he still supports the overspending budget!).
