Reminds me a bit of Derek Trucks in his youth -- though Trucks was constantly surrounded by royalty with the Allman Brothers and all. Derek was definitely more spot on, but look at him now: out of this world. This kid or anyone else who puts in the work can be right up there, if they stay dedicated. I wonder if he's discovered Derek Trucks or become interested in the slide yet.

Not to be too rough on the kid... but there are far better kids right here on youtube, and probably many more not having their skills flaunted on the internet. I know it's an unfair comparison, but at this age, Paco De Lucia was destroying peoples minds with ridiculous flamenco awesomeness. There's also that little kid that played Samba Pa Ti in front of Carlos Santana. The list goes on, and a large portion of them are doing more than running just through the pentatonic scale sloppily. It's funny. Everyone gives Hendrix credit for voodoo child but I say the original is now the third best version after Stevie Ray Vaugn's and Tallan's.
You'd expect kids his age to like all that Linkin Park, Avenged Sevefold, Shortstack, Good Charlotte and Disturbed crap, but he listens to Hendrix, and can play as well as Jimi Hendrix.
I don't understand the former negative comments- yes, there are other precocious child prodigies out there (the young Sinti guitarist Jimmy Rosenberg playing verbatim Django Reinhardt solos at the age of ten comes to mind) but that doesn't lessen this young fellow's incredible gift.

i think it is not about talent, it is about time you spend with your instrument. He started playing real early and never get's tired of it.
I think everyone can reach that stage of playing in 6 years maybe even in 4 years.
What makes it so amazing is that he is just 10 years old in this video.
Most kids start playing in this age and if they pratice as much as this kid they will be as good.

@andrewarden The soul and feeling will come with age I think. There is already far more feeling in this version of the song than the one I just watched from 3 years earlier.
At the minute he is playing exactly what he is learning, but as he gets more comfortable he will loosen up. Watch the vids of him when he was 7-8 next to this and you can already see it happening

Dude don't confuse this kids weak and I must admit annoying voice with NO SOUL. When this kids voice developes in 4 -6 years I believe he is going to blow the shit up! The kid feels the emotion and its obvious based on videos going back 3 years ago.
I hope that voice developes in to something good, because he is someone who deserves stardom!

Too much making sounds for the sake of making sounds, I stopped about 2/3 through. I liked his tone & feel at 8 more than this. Will he get better? Who knows? He might find girls are more fun than practice, or buy the hype and think whatever he plays is great, or burn out. can I put my money where my mouth is? Check my vids, if you like, enjoy, if not, go in peace.

Don't hate! This kid rocks. There is always better talent somewhere out there. But I like the fact that this kid is living his dream at such an early age. He's earning it and there are no guarantees in life! Go, kid, go!!!

Not to be too rough on the kid... but there are far better kids right here on youtube, and probably many more not having their skills flaunted on the internet. I know it's an unfair comparison, but at this age, Paco De Lucia was destroying peoples minds with ridiculous flamenco awesomeness. There's also that little kid that played Samba Pa Ti in front of Carlos Santana. The list goes on, and a large portion of them are doing more than running just through the pentatonic scale sloppily. Im sorry.

I don't understand the former negative comments- yes, there are other precocious child prodigies out there (the young Sinti guitarist Jimmy Rosenberg playing verbatim Django Reinhardt solos at the age of ten comes to mind) but that doesn't lessen this young fellow's incredible gift.

the reason this kid is so damn good at the guitar is because he learned to talk to and through his guitar! most guitar players out there never learn how to do that, so with that in mind we have to give some mad props to this underage guitar god
