  • Why does only peanut allergies get treated different and all the others it seems like no big deal? If one kid with a minor peanut allgery gets different treatment in schools and the child with the deadly fruit allergy gets the same treatment as most of the other students doesn't this sound unfair? That one child has to suffer and the other student doesn't?

  • are you nuts?! just because some nut job is allergic to nuts! what a nutcase to crack! hope those nutty allergy chicks don't allergic to my two salty chocolate nuts! hehe!

  • I'm allergic to peanuts and cashews, but not almonds and hazelnuts.

  • RYAN HO. ALLERGENIC TO PEANUTS.

  • doo little as you can

  • awesome

  • Then you should kill off every person on the planet because ANYONE can get a food allergy at anytime in their life! You don't have to be born with it.. It just happens (adult, children, geriatrics) any time in your lifetime. Look out because your allergy may show up any day now. :-) (i hope!)

  • Your comment is fucking ridiculous. What a piece of shit you must be.

  • pack your own food? some people get reactions if they're even around peanut or whatever it is that they're allergic to.

  • they should definetly be more careful, i am deathly alergic to peanuts and people think its a joke, but thousands die a year, and many people dont take it seriously!

  • if u pack your own food food, won't some of them go under quaranteen ?

  • when i had a peanut allergy reaction, my throat killed. my stomach felt horrible. i puked heaps. i went red. i sweat. i felt dizzy, weak.

  • Did you die from it?

  • do you think ?, i only had a small ammount of peanuts before my throat started to itch.

  • The mother says "It's not fair!" Well boo-hoo. Life is not fair. It's not fair that this child is allergic to peanuts, but this is what life has dealt him and his family. What is enormously unfair is to expect the rest of the world to accomodate this special need. I read of a school in Indiana that banned peanuts. Even packed lunches from home were prohibited from containing peanut products. With peanut butter being such a staple food,it is absurd to place this burden/inconvenience on everyone.

  • I agree that it isn't always fair to other families that this burden should be so strongly placed upon them. However, I being a person whom is allergic to peanuts, believe that help from other people is very important. I personally don't believe in complete peanut banns from schools, as it really is just burdening families and doesn't truly work. I think people should help, but willingly and in small gestures. I'll survive without overly special treatment.

    -Nick

  • "Willingly and in small gestures" is very reasonable and I agree with you there. My dad was so passive/aggressive, he would have sent us to school with peanut dust all over our books and backpacks if the school had banned peanut products in lunches. I was once on a Southwest Airlines flight that announced they would not be serving the snack because a peanut-allergic passenger was on board. A guy across the aisle was ticked and ate a snickers bar and packs of peanuts that he had in his bag.

  • Absured?! We're talking about life and death here! Many people don't understand that others will die if it doesn't get treated! It is NOT an inconvinience if it's saving someone's life. And it's not like she's asking the rest of the world to give up peanuts, just to keep from eating them when he's around.

  • ahhh... I agree with u... I was talking to tech2rescue.

Srry if I accidentally replied to yours.

  • Thank you so much- I have the allergy in a most severe way. Ingesting it-forget about it- I need to inject, then go to the ER for IVs for hours. Just being on a plane w/ peanuts, I need to put my shirt over my head, or it feels like I'm going to go into full anaphylaxis...W

  • Im so allergic to nuts.

    We have allergy free dogs

  • Quit being in such a hurry and DRIVE the child yourself instead or rent a charter four-person plane.

  • I understand her want to be like everyone else, however, the fact that she just doesn't pack her son his own meal is going a little overboard. I am allergic to peanut and fly quite a lot. I love traveling. I'm not going to make people go crazy just so I can get a salad on my flight. It's much easier on everyone if you just bring something to eat, easy as well as safe.

    -Nick

  • I agree. If there is any risk involved, just pack your own food.

  • The woman who the mother spoke with before the flight probably said that peanuts wouldn't be served to the boy if he didn't want them.

If just the smell of the peanuts can make the boy have a reaction, then couldn't any airplane that previously served peanuts EVER in the past have given the boy a reaction?

Maybe there should be a peanut free flight for several hundred dollars more for the people who don't want peanut exposure.

  • So glad he is ok!

  • it would be very hard to bring your own food on a trip to China from Canada. thats a very long flight. the airline should have been more careful

  • P.S. I forgot to add, If you suffer from a food allergy, the smartest thing to do: BRING YOUR OWN FOOD!

Nobody is going to look after you better than yourself, the sooner you learn this, the better you'll be.

  • Seriously, airlines are facing difficult times attempting to reduce costs. Now people want the airlines to pay to ensure the food they serve are made in a peanut free environment. Those people should research that airlines contract their food services for instance to cara in canada, or gate gourmet or lsg skychefs.
