You can feed things that might have 'fat' to dogs like this recipe or you can feed the treats at the store that has (Yes I did read this on the ingredients) Animal plasma, animal parts, or animal digest (poop). Anyway did you really think that dog treats were not fattening! If you feed these dog treats like a treat then they will be fine. This is 1 tablespoon of brown sugar out of 2 cups of flour and a few tablespoons of Crisco its not gonna kill 'em! They're cookies yall! FEED THEM LIKE COOKIES
I've worked for a vet for 10 years and I would never feed these to a dog. If the vet heard of the crisco nutmeg and brown sugar she would gasp. Try a carrot stick instead! This recipe is a vet visit waiting to happen!
wheat, butter-flavored Crisco (crazy FULLY HYDROGENATED PALM OIL!!!) and sugar for my dogs??? For my sweet babies?? OH HELL NO!!! I don't think so...very toxic stuff!
The wheat flour, nutmeg, and *GASP* crisco should all be omitted from the recipe. Many dogs can not digest wheat, nutmeg is a toxin, and crisco is plain old garbage! I'm human and I don't eat crisco. Thanks for the recipe, it just needs modified to be healthy, wholesome, and natural. This as is may be just as bad as boxed treats. I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just being honest.
hey this is wwwaayy better than expert villiage you guys are just saying mean things just bc everyone else is this is actually really good for a dog! STOP ACTING LIKE ITS EXPERT VILLAGE!
I have 2 dogs, one is a male Boston Terrier the other is older and female German/Australian shepeard. I have been trying to get my Boston Terrier to eat what she eats (Pedigree) is the only brand we buy and have for years. I have tried to feed him so many foods he only eats canned dog food. But gives BAD gas! So I made this recipe that helped: Smoked raw salmon,Cream cheese,Rice,Marbel cheese,Summer sausage. It works very well(:
@TheMsluvlinkinpark Yeah, they love human meat... they say it tastes like pork. That's what they sould do with dead bodies... turn them into pet food. Mmm... come to think of it, it's fair. We eat animals, so they get to eat us.
@AznxXxDreamz EASY! LOL! The world is overpopulated with humans! They should supply the food for one another. Go to New Guinea and take one of the guided walks to visit remote tribes... there you can try it for yourself. Delishimo!
@BigAndTall666 meat also contains many harmful things, cows and various other animals are injected hormones and many other unhealthy things as well, and if you would know dogs are omnivores they often eat grass fruit or vegetables, as they need this nutrients that meat does Not have. Husbands? if your wife feeds you vegetables thank her for loving you and caring enough to feed you well, couse if i was her i might stuff cancer up your throat.
so lets see with your logic what we should do is, because we know that commercial dog food is really bad for your dog, we should by really bad ingredients from the store and then go home and go through the trouble of making really unhealthy treats for them instead. Right?
@markp64 Its not really bad' ingredients! We are talking a few tablespoons of brown sugar and crisco in with what 2 and 1/2 cups of flour? That will be like less than a pinch of fat in each cookie. We only eat a few people cookies because they have a lot of sugar and fat in them same with dogs if we only feed like 2-3 cookies to the dog (Depends on the size of dog) It will not hurt the dog! Im not saying that criso and sugar is good for them but its a darn dog cookie! I PROMISE the dog will live
It absolutely is BAD ingredients for a dog!! You can make a choice as a human to stuff whatever amount of garbage in your trap you want. However, your dog cannot make that choice. You have a responsibility to take care of and keep your dog as healthy as possible.
These are treats people so you're not going to be feeding a lot to a dog just like with any treat, all in moderation. Wouldn't use nutmeg though, cinnamon only is ok you don't need to feed much.
But brown sugar no and crisco no way! There are lot healthier ways to make a pumpkin flavoured treats for your dog. Some dogs can't tolerate wheat either.
I'd be changing it to rice flour, honey instead of sugar and sunflower oil and you can use a cookie cutter instead then.
Pumpkin is Fine for dogs it will not kill your dog. It's high in fiber with an abundance of disease-fighting nutrients, including potassium, pantothenic acid, magnesium, and vitamins C and E. Pumpkin also contains carotenoids, which have been linked to promoting health in your dog as well as disease-fighting nutrients.
I would never give my dogs crisco and I'd never add refined sugar to my recipes. Why not olive oil or honey?
I make my own treat recipes and find that organic brown rice flour (gluten free) is the best as opposed to wheat flours. Better for their tummy and if the dog has grain allergies.
!!!!!!!>=c DID YOU JUST PUT NUTMEG IN THAT!? DONT YOU KNOW NUTMEG IS POISONES TO DOGS!!!? IN ALL THE DOG RECEPY SIGHTS IVE SEEN IVE READ THAT NUTMEG IS DOG POISON!!!
OH AND writtingsongs4life..no you cannot give dogs milk they ara lactose intolorent

pumpkin can be used as a laxative in pets. Be careful if you make these treats not to give too many or your dog will get diarrhea.

It's also a good idea to research what foods, herbs and spices dog can have safely. Ask you vet if you don't know. Never take a wild guess.
