I think it was 1953 or 1958. I'll check the box and get the information in the next day or so.

The year was 1958 and it was directed by Roman Tikhomirov.
They used actors and dubbed the opera singers over them. I gathered a couple of clips and hope to post them soon. They need a little cleaning up.
