yeah yeah yeah! we know it's Baltimore. you can't handle snow blah blah blah! This is just another typical snow event for me. I live up in upstate NY btw.
Hmmm... let's see. Baltimore has officially declared that the only vehicles allowed on the roads must belong to the government or military -- and today (Feb 10, 2010 2:37 PM) we are in near White Out blizzard conditions again. Most of the city still has not been dug out from the weekend... and the city is nearly out of SALT for the roads.
With a 770 million dollar budget deficit already for the state of Maryland prior to the storm, hundreds of accidents this past week across the Mid-Atlantic region, and even Obama snowed in at the White House and calling it SNOWMAGEDDON, ummm yeah -- the storm cells have had my attention. ;)
The area got almost 30 inches of snow in less than 12 hours (in our area). I remember sitting through a few Chicago Blizzards -- and hearing about Canadian storms. You are right -- other places do get more snow. That's why this storm was such a big deal -- and set so many records.
alright, do you not understand that different areas are prepared for different amounts of snow? it might be nothing to you, but we weren't prepared to deal with it. it was the worst storm in a century here. you might have everything you need to deal with a storm that size easily but we have very little. over 100,000 people's powers were knocked out. my area went two days without power and many houses had no way of heating or cooking. don't be a dumbass, it wasn't a "light dusting" at all.
Yeah -- it was crazy eerie but beautiful. Lightning in snow skies is one of the most beautiful acts of nature. Sadly, our cam battery was dead-dead and on the charger when it rumbled past us.
@magpiemaniac We are being so mean, but that IS funny (the comparison to HAL in 2001 Space Odyssey). I hope she perks the narrative up if she does another installment tomorrow. I did like the sarcastic tone she took when mentioning BG&E though. Kudos on that point of the narrative. haha
Snow ended up past my son's waist today... and when he dug the cars out of the garage with the shovel, he could stand on the snowbank and reach the second floor deck. Hopefully, you stayed home safe, warm, and with your head above it all! <3
Central Maryland--where people are the only Marylanders (except for one Hispanic guy in Silver Spring) who appear to have the natural curiosity to venture off their front porches with their video cameras, are measuring 20" to 22" of snow so far Saturday morning, with snow still coming down.
We ended up with around 30 inches in less than 12 hours. As soon as I can get back to add the rest of the videos, I'll get them up. Dave. Certainly. LOL
The National Guard in Maryland spent the day digging trapped explorers and travelers stranded in snowbanks out of their cars.
BTW: I wouldn't call that a "snow plow" - that is a truck with a shovel on the front of it. A real snow plow is one of the State Highway large trucks. People are crazy driving those small trucks. Check out the Baltimore County Police scanner (google it). There are small plow trucks getting stuck all over the county!
The one working in the early hour videos ended up getting buried. The big trucks and bulldozers had to get him out this afternoon. A+ google scan -- this storm actually caused a lot of accidents and highway deaths... extremely sad... no matter how much we love the snow, I never forget how dangerous it is to traveling family, neighbors, and friends I have not met.

Compliments on your narration voice; it is superb! You should have a job narrating audiobooks! Best to you from North Central Indiana.

I live in the snow belt of Upstate NY so I'm basically use to it.

That's not a snow storm! Fucking pussies. When you get 5-10 FEET of snow that's a snow storm. That's just a light dusting and not a big deal at all.

@Blakhawk1703 Yeah, it does sound kind of banal. No offence to the narrator, but it does sound like she's reading selections from Poe.

Not much better here! Like the world is ending, blotted out by white. I go to Timmonium MD next weekend for a convention.
