Shit I should just clarify this is way old and I didn't know how to spell Daigo's name, I actually like Daigo it's always fun to watch matches with him. And he's a very humble guy for being so rape at SF.
Quite complex. Im good with PC's gaming, hardware, software etc. But this stuff is complex to set up. Got a Dreacast Emulator and this game, and I think that plays better, as you have different modesm you can add filters for the graphics too, stretch them, but they still look ok, not all pixelated. Does anyone know if there is a way to play this against ppl online? That would be awesome. I know we have SF4, but i wanna play ppl at this!!! Anyone agree?
Try unzipping the sfIII3 zip file then put the sf33usa.bin in there and then zip it again :). Or just visit my channel for a preset up Mame32++.117 with bios included and all that good stuff.
I love mame & have loads of games on there, but i so gave up trying to get this working!.So i just dusted off my old xbox (That still works!) and popped in street fighter anniversary edition and fanny's your aunt!.
Hey, man, I did everything that your video said, and it still says that I have a missing image or CHD file, so I can't play the game. I have windows vista, could that have something to do with it? Thanks. If you want me to describe how everything is, I can, I'm just pretty much stuck here.
@freestarness the CHD file has something to do with Capcom's CPS3 system or whatever its called; the CPS2 only allowed so many pixels and colors onscreen, and the technology was too advanced for the likes of the consoles of the day up until the release of the Dreamcast. True, botht he alpha series and III are 2D fighters, difference is though Alpha uses CPS2, while III uses CPS3. SNK games like "Garou" use a different engine outright more compatible with MAME.
@freestarness your best bet is to just use a CPS3 emulator if you can't find the CHD file; the CHD file is what allows SF III to be played on MAME. See, the Neo Geo console was too difficult to transfer onto PC's for whatever reason as an emulator, not to mention there were plenty of other arcade titles people wanted to revisit. Hence, MAME was made primarily as a pre-1999 and primarily SNK emulator. Anything past 1999 uses CPS3.
@freestarness you need to understand that PC's, laptops and even netbooks in today's world are way more powerful than they were in the 1990's, and tons more powerful than even the most advanced gaming consoles of the day. Imagine the engineering nightmare of outfitting a P51 mustang with modern day radar equipment designed for an F-22; that is what is like to make emulators, its why computer geeks do it, its a challenge.
where can i find the bios file?? i cannot find it, the link u had up is no longer valid. may someone please send me a link to a now working bios file for street fighter 3 3rd strike
i have following problem, i cant find any servers with mame on kaillera. "done. 0 servers found." with ggpo, however, i find servers. how can i fix this? any ideas?
There's nowhere to find the 33s000.chd or the bios... files, :( I want to play this game so badly, this game is unavailable @ the local arcades since the 2000, same as killer instinct.... please help me fellows!!
to anyone for whom the links don't work; hey guys sorry, I myself downloaded this 7 months ago. This is what you need to download, as they are not always bundled;
1) SF III third strike, the game itself.
2) The SF III third strike Bios file
3) The SF III third strike CHD file
Extract the files from 2 and 3, and put them in the winrar folder for number 1, when you run it on mame it should work. However I googled and the files are tough to find.
next, you're gonna have to google "SF III CHD file" and "SFIII bios"
I've ran into that "bios" thing quite a bit; from 1998 onward, all games with a ridiculously high pixel count, or a high polygon count need a bios thing to run it.
Romnation has the game itself but it won't run without the CHD and Bios files which you're gonna have to google. You open the CHD and bios folders, and transfer those files to the SF III folder, that's what I did.
@stardingo747 Hey dude, one question, by saying "...transfer those files to the SF III folder, that's what I did. " do you mean putting all this .zip files INSIDE the sfiii3.zip file? or an ACTUAL folder called SF III?
The street fighter III file does not come in a single neatly packaged winrar folder, at least not anymore. You need to download two rar folders, namely the rom itself, and the CHD file which gets the rom to work on the MAME. You open both folders, and you take the contents of the CHD rar folder, and place them in the rom folder of SF III. Once the SF III folder has the CHD in it, the MAME should be able to run it provided you have version .127
good luck dude; you're gonna need it. MAME will work, but its a pain in the ass to set up and get running, you will have to do a lot of key poking and mouse clicking. If you're smart though you'll figure it out.
@stardingo747 I gave up and deleted everything. Luckily enough some files were still running on my computer for some reason and I didn't get to delete the Roms and stuff...so I guess I'll try again.
Basically, I was using a MAME version called: MAME32++ 0.117 (Jul 12 2007)
I guess that explains it though. Becuase when I was running it there it said it was missing both the CHD (which I had) and a file which ended in .u2 .... So I don't know what's left know...where can I get MAME 1.27?
Just google "MAME" and go to the official site, then look for any "past versions" or whatever theyr'e called. If I were you I would try to google the files the poster of this vid mentions in the video description, and then put all of them in the SF III rar folder. Obviously the links he posted won't work, so you will have to hunt them yourself. I don't have that .u2 file, and it runs just fine. Again though, you need MAME version 1.27
MAME is a pain in the ass to use man, its part of why my arcade classics game collection is so limited. You need like 20 separate versions of MAME, to play games of different eras, its messed up. MAME's problem, is how vastly different arcade boards were ranging from the 70's to now. You look at an arcade board from the 90's, and its chip and memory set is vastly different from one from the early 80's, so coding a MAME that will run them both is a nightmare.
goddamn it dude could you plz upload the files again preferrebly to mediafire or megaupload cause those keep your files for ages without taking them down
question. does this program legit work or should i not waste my time? nd is this version online and compatible with street fighter 4 arcade stick for xbox. (please answer as much as u can lol)
no i dont think its compatible with the sf4 arcade sticks dude...and ive been trying myself to get it to run on mame so i can play it online...i can play it fine on nebula but its not online :( and if you donot own the game then no its not legit...
Oh it works; I have street fighter III on my computer but again, the romnation data on SF III won't work without the CHD and bios file. The contents of the winrar CHD file, and the bios one, go into the SF III folder, you then have a long waiting period before the game installs itself into your computer. Its well worth it though; the graphics are pretty close from what I remember. Again; get the bios and chd folders, extract the contents, and then put them in the SFIII one.
the site to dl the bios does not work, and i've tried looking it up, it seems nearly impossible to find a working link. does anybody have a link that they know works? the bios is all i need =(
I've never heard of any fact that proves of paralell universes but I am quite sure I live in the same as you, if there is any.
But seriously man.... install windows vista on your rotten apple and you will see how much better projects like mame is.... and mame is just one of a thousand of examples I could come up with.
Seems like a horribly unnecassary way of getting something to run instead of just running Windows and make life easier... but that's just like Mac users... even though they know everything is a pain in the ass they stick with it instead of making things alot easier and more effective.

Are you serious? Linux is an operating system for a PC. PC means personal computer. And no Linux is not all that great very difficult to use unless you know what you are doing. Now if you use say Ubuntu it will make running Linux much easier because it puts Linux in a "Windows" style environment. But even then it's still way more work than say on OSX or XP.
Well... to be honest you can say that about anything... for example... Assembler is not a hard language to program in, as long as you know what you're doing.
Seriously... how many people want to learn millions of command phrases just to be able to fix their sound drivers if the sounds stops working for some odd reason?.
That tend to happen alot in Ubuntu and well... basically any other linux distros out there.
That's weird, i followed EVERY single step in your video, except i downloaded the more recent Mame, Mane 0.129, and it still says i am missing a rom or chd file...........I have the chd file in a subfolder called sfiii3, and i have the sfiii3 zip folder with the sf33usa.bin inside of the zip folder........the heck.
All you do is drag the 33s000 file into the rom like 3 times and it plays...i didnt know what to do when it said rewrite so i just hit ebter and 14 minutes and 2 sandwiches laters its playing...although i kinda didnt follow your instructions you did provide the missing file. For that im very grateful...thanks
okay, i did everything the instruction did, and got through. But then i get stuck when it says REWRITE or EXIT. Does anyone know how to deal with this? THanks
I'm assuming you mean MAME .131b? The folks over at MAME are purists and like to change things between versions. It looks like they changed some stuff regarding SFIII3 in the latest iteration. Try renaming your CHD file to "cap-33s-2.chd" - without the quotes, of course. It should work at that point, although it looks like the download link provided on this site has the wrong checksum according to the latest version of MAME, so ymmv. The most likely reason is that they updated to a new dump.
one of the least comprehensive guides i've ever followed. you should really work on being more organized in your explanations. you should also mention that you need a CD in the FIRST PLACE. not everyone has a CD handy.
I did it all with the MAME (regular) 0.129 Win32 command line version and it says that there are files missing in the ROM...Anybody knows the problem?
The Saturn WAS the better system for fighters. He was right. I know because I was there when both those systems were new.
Don't confuse RAM with STORAGE SPACE. PSX cds could hold more, but the system had less ram and thus was able to support less frames of animation at once.
Far as I remember, virtually all 2D games reviewed by gamepro that came out on the PS1 got nothing but the highest praise. Saying the Neo Geo had greater horse power than the PS1 what the fuck man? The PS1 is like, 32 BIT, read that again 32 BIT to Neo Geo's 24, plus, PS1 black discs could hold up to 1,000 megabytes of data. Whatever the data storage everyone knows there is a reason we insert discs in our consoles now, NOT cartridges honestly WHAT THE FUCK!?
The PSX used CD roms. They could hold 700MB max. You have no idea what you're talking about.
For 2d fighters the Neo Geo was MUCH better. Why? Because a Neo Geo home console and a Neo Geo arcade machine were the SAME THING. The PSX had watered down ports that had to deal with the system's RAM limitations.
Yes, PSX discs could HOLD MORE. But Storage space and RAM aren't the same. Learn what you're talking about man.
the neo geo wasn't intended for mass market it was originally like a rental console for hotels they later relesed it as a premium product but thats not the point, the point is that the lack of ram in the ps1 made the ports of the neo geo games suck compared to the aes because the data is easier to acces at a higher speed than is possible on a cd and requires less ram for this reason. in conclusion play the games for both systems before commenting about it to avoid looking stupid.
oh yeah guys; the very first link is all you need for the game itself, you don't need the others.
You still need the MAME and winrar links though. However for the Street Fighter III game itself you only need the very first link; it actually comes with a bios file that gives it slightly cleaner graphics. And yes I've tested both; the compilation one, and the separat downloads one.
well for the game itself you only need the very first file.
I personally recomend you use MAME version .127 though to play, that's the one that worked for me anyway. I fucking hate MAME; how you have to have like 10 of them to get different titles to work.
haven't tried it, but I'm not concerned with MAME so much anymore; I really wish those they would have the home console version of arcade classics rather than just on MAME. The whole reason people purchased PS1's in the first place, is because they wanted to play 2D fighters for cheaper than the 400 clam plus neo geo titles. Ultimately, during the first half of its life, the PS1 was just a cheaper Neo Geo when you think about it.
Nobody bought PS1s for 2D fighters. It was the one thing it was notoriously bad at. Most ports sacrificed a lot of animation frames and in some cases like X-Men vs. Street Fighter whole gameplay elements like tag-team swapping was removed entirely. It just didn't have the RAM to even cope with Neo-Geo ports compared to the real thing. Serious 2D fighting fans got themselves a modded Saturn. It was the one thing Sega's flop could do better than PS1.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
dude, go look at back issues of gamepro magazine, they give the tech specs for both systems. It was the Saturn, not the PS1, which was bad at animation frames, and not a singe 2D port on the PS1 was bad. Don't know where the hell you get your information from but everyone knows a PS1 black disc could hold a lot more data than a neo geo cartridge. Hell at the video store during PS1's early days all you saw was 2D fighters. People, don't listen to this guy......
you are so wrong it's not even funny, compare x-men vs street fighter on ps1 vs the saturn. The saturn version has more animation frames no load time the ability to play tag mode with any character, it is arcade perfect it is a fact that the saturn is a far superior 2d machine than the ps1
Oh my god, someone that can't face facts that the ps1 sucked when it came to 2D fighters is crazy. PS1 can barely handle them because of the lame porting.
I respect your opinion, and you should respect mine as well. Tekken was superior to Street Fighter on the playstation. Shorter load times...really I had more fun with it. Alpha was a child's version of SSF2T IMO.
one word to you all and i dont whanna "thank you" because i think this is givin by a player to others and we must help each other:EMUPARADISE

ohhh i can game but i wont be able to edit pictures or make movies well what a fair trade
thestainisgone485 2 years ago
because mac simply sucks... get a proper OS at least like windows vista and your life will become much better
Vinterhjarta 2 years ago
wow seriously?
in what parallel universe are you living in that vista is good? even XP was better!
and if i wanted windows id just run it on my MAC
thestainisgone485 2 years ago
I've never heard of any fact that proves of paralell universes but I am quite sure I live in the same as you, if there is any.
But seriously man.... install windows vista on your rotten apple and you will see how much better projects like mame is.... and mame is just one of a thousand of examples I could come up with.
Vinterhjarta 2 years ago
funny that....im playing third strike on my mac....that also runs windows on vmware fusion seamlessly...but apparently sucks according to you.
djwickstar 2 years ago
Seems like a horribly unnecassary way of getting something to run instead of just running Windows and make life easier... but that's just like Mac users... even though they know everything is a pain in the ass they stick with it instead of making things alot easier and more effective.

Are you serious? Linux is an operating system for a PC. PC means personal computer. And no Linux is not all that great very difficult to use unless you know what you are doing. Now if you use say Ubuntu it will make running Linux much easier because it puts Linux in a "Windows" style environment. But even then it's still way more work than say on OSX or XP.
DarakuTenshi 2 years ago
Well... to be honest you can say that about anything... for example...
Vinterhjarta 2 years ago
Yeah it took me forever to get my wireless card working in Ubuntu.

For that im very grateful...thanks
renotheturk 2 years ago
okay, i did everything the instruction did, and got through. But then i get stuck when it says REWRITE or EXIT. Does anyone know how to deal with this? THanks
nomburone 2 years ago
you will want to rewrite and it takes some time, took me 20 mins
DarkSaleen 2 years ago
fck ur video blows, cant even read a lot of shit
juanreyes1212 2 years ago 3
I did everything according to the instructions.
MAME 1.31 still complains about missing rom or chd files.
kuningaskosmos 2 years ago
I'm assuming you mean MAME .131b? The folks over at MAME are purists and like to change things between versions. It looks like they changed some stuff regarding SFIII3 in the latest iteration. Try renaming your CHD file to "cap-33s-2.chd" - without the quotes, of course. It should work at that point, although it looks like the download link provided on this site has the wrong checksum according to the latest version of MAME, so ymmv. The most likely reason is that they updated to a new dump.
mhaly101 2 years ago
i did everything correctly according to the video
i put the chd file in the "sfiii3" folder which is in the "roms" folder
but wen i load up the game it says it lacks a chd

when i start the game it says something like: The game wont work, it lacks sound, dont even bother. What should i do?

one of the least comprehensive guides i've ever followed. you should really work on being more organized in your explanations. you should also mention that you need a CD in the FIRST PLACE. not everyone has a CD handy.

Whatever the data storage everyone knows there is a reason we insert discs in our consoles now, NOT cartridges honestly WHAT THE FUCK!?
stardingo747 3 years ago
The PSX used CD roms. They could hold 700MB max. You have no idea what you're talking about.
For 2d fighters the Neo Geo was MUCH better. Why? Because a Neo Geo home console and a Neo Geo arcade machine were the SAME THING. The PSX had watered down ports that had to deal with the system's RAM limitations.
Yes, PSX discs could HOLD MORE. But Storage space and RAM aren't the same. Learn what you're talking about man.
bchan009 3 years ago
the neo geo also set you back 400 bucks in a time period when consoles cost 150.
stardingo747 3 years ago
the neo geo wasn't intended for mass market it was originally like a rental console for hotels they later relesed it as a premium product but thats not the point, the point is that the lack of ram in the ps1 made the ports of the neo geo games suck compared to the aes because the data is easier to acces at a higher speed than is possible on a cd and requires less ram for this reason. in conclusion play the games for both systems before commenting about it to avoid looking stupid.
BettyBlowtorchRocks 2 years ago
hey man FUCK YOU.
that the PS1 is more powerful is COMMON FUCKING KNOWLEDGE, ANYONE with just RUDIMENTARY hardware knowledge knows that!
It was fucking all over video game mags in the 1990's and I think I'll take THEIR word over some youtube douche!

which emulator plays a street fighter game good?
gokito2000 3 years ago
oh yeah guys; the very first link is all you need for the game itself, you don't need the others.
You still need the MAME and winrar links though. However for the Street Fighter III game itself you only need the very first link; it actually comes with a bios file that gives it slightly cleaner graphics. And yes I've tested both; the compilation one, and the separat downloads one.
stardingo747 3 years ago 2
well that would've been if jebril notify us to download the first one on the top instead^_^;
BlooOcean 3 years ago
well for the game itself you only need the very first file.
I personally recomend you use MAME version .127 though to play, that's the one that worked for me anyway. I fucking hate MAME; how you have to have like 10 of them to get different titles to work.
stardingo747 3 years ago
neer mind; got this to work on MAME .127
god damn, I don't know what the hell is up with it running some games and not running others, its really annoying.
stardingo747 3 years ago
does it work on mame plus?
gokito2000 3 years ago
haven't tried it, but I'm not concerned with MAME so much anymore; I really wish those they would have the home console version of arcade classics rather than just on MAME. The whole reason people purchased PS1's in the first place, is because they wanted to play 2D fighters for cheaper than the 400 clam plus neo geo titles. Ultimately, during the first half of its life, the PS1 was just a cheaper Neo Geo when you think about it.
stardingo747 3 years ago
Nobody bought PS1s for 2D fighters. It was the one thing it was notoriously bad at. Most ports sacrificed a lot of animation frames and in some cases like X-Men vs. Street Fighter whole gameplay elements like tag-team swapping was removed entirely. It just didn't have the RAM to even cope with Neo-Geo ports compared to the real thing. Serious 2D fighting fans got themselves a modded Saturn. It was the one thing Sega's flop could do better than PS1.
repsode 3 years ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
dude, go look at back issues of gamepro magazine, they give the tech specs for both systems. People, don't listen to this guy......
stardingo747 3 years ago
you are so wrong it's not even funny, compare x-men vs street fighter on ps1 vs the saturn. The saturn version has more animation frames no load time the ability to play tag mode with any character, it is arcade perfect it is a fact that the saturn is a far superior 2d machine than the ps1
BettyBlowtorchRocks 2 years ago
Oh my god, someone that can't face facts that the ps1 sucked when it came to 2D fighters is crazy. PS1 can barely handle them because of the lame porting.
GhettoNinjah 2 years ago
my favorit fighter street fighter alpha only came out on ps1 what you talking about fool
themagicboy22 2 years ago
Street FIghter Alpha sucked on the PS1 IMO, load times put me off the experience. Marvel vs Capcom 2 was a hell lot better.
GhettoNinjah 2 years ago
mvc2 is a broken game and was not on ps1 i was just saying it because you said all 2d fighters sucked on ps1 wich is far from the truth
themagicboy22 2 years ago
I respect your opinion, and you should respect mine as well. Tekken was superior to Street Fighter on the playstation. Shorter load times...really I had more fun with it. Alpha was a child's version of SSF2T IMO.
