consider how much physical fitness contributed to Bruce's power and speed, and thus to his jeet kune do, it's a wonder why JKD schools don't emulate his physical regimen as part of the art.
thats because bruces true physical regimen is hard to find, and he did not teach his students the same way he trained. because it would be pointless, nobody would be able to keep up with him.
@davidreefer because most martial art schools like to keep with the myth of "size slows you down", they automatically assume if you work out you're going to get big muscles and that's going to magically slow you down. Before i hurt my elbows, i used to workout like a mad man, was huge compared to most people, and could move and strike easily 3x faster then any average person i came up against. It's a myth is all :D
JKD is not a 'style', or 'form'. It is not a martial art but an approach.
As a JKD practitioner you bring to the table your own experiences & preferences. Everyone's JKD will be different.
I've studied Jun Fan, western boxing, chinese boxing, traditional win chung, kali and Tai boxing, what I practice is not JKD, but a sinergy of those approaches that suits me.
Whatever you do, do it to the very best of your ability, physical, mental and spiritual.
im a jkd pratitioner and this 'style' of fighting has got to be one of the best ways iv been doing it 6 months and my fighting has increased a significant amount. btw the film enter the dragon inspired me to start :)
JKD isn't a martial art :) and even founder B.L. didnt want to give a name for it becouse by his philosophy it would be like another style with limitations and so on and on.... sry for bad english here xD i read this in one of his books :)
IT's good but in my opinion as a JKD practitioner.. we should aim higher like building muscle etc.. so that people can see the real JKD is still considered as a martial art...
anybody that doesnt copy could of made jeet kune do

@ignelioo So what was Bruce doing then? What did he develop during his lifetime? That, is what has become the ART.
