Con esta cancion nos enamoramos, mi mujer yo.Por eso quiero dedicartela a ti elena por que eres el amor de mi vida,y te querre hasta el fin de los tiempos.
@xxxxtokishonexxxx No, because then Twilight fans will think that this movie is how the story actually is in the novel, which it isn't. There is NO love story between Mina and Dracula in the book, she only loves Jonathan Harker. You know how mad True Blood fans get when the show constantly pushes Bill/Sookie and the fans protest because she's with Eric in the books? It's the same thing here. Mina loves Jonathan in the novel, not Dracula. It's sad that no one made a movie that is true to them.
@Xanerithe good point! now if only you could explain that to the xtians who have been doin' that for centuries now. Celebrating and worshipping a genocidal god that very much gets his rocks off by going around killing people. And they even get to drink blood every Sunday :)
Excellent creation, as a tribute for Dracula & Mina!
Music is very good adapted to the theme, and all the images are very suggestive! But i hope all the people to realize that all is wrote in Bram Stoker's book, is only the fantasy of writer, and nothing more. A brilliant fantasy, but for sure, just fantasy! :))
Thank you for uploading my friend! I enjoyed to watch of it.
An excellent movie and I would say 95% accurate, but as has already been said, in the novel there was no romance between Dracula and Mina. I have just finished reading it. Dracula preyed on Mina at night the way he preyed on Lucy. She meant nothing to him.
Having said that, as 'adaptations' go, if taken on its own merits, this is a very good movie.
Mina and dracula... Thats bram stokers real deal, I think mina is a beautiful... I have cousins named ,Vlad,Mina,Mircea,radu,ivan... (im romanian) Arent those better than john or steve? lol Gary oldman is the best actor EVER btw. Ty so much for this vid I love it.
@Auriuthalam No, Mina and Dracula are not Bram Stoker's real deal. Jonathan and Mina Harker are. I've read Bram Stoker's novel three times and there is NO love story between Mina and Dracula at all. That is entirely a creation of director Francis Ford Coppola, and it is not what Stoker intended.
i love the movie, i understand that it doesn't reflect what the book says, but i like it anyway!
gary oldman is a great actor when playing as a "bad" dracula or as a "good" one, i don't really care if that's what bram stoker wrote, but also i understand people who really love the book and got mad when they saw the film
I thought the title for this movie was very misleading. I LOVE this film, as Oldman gives a tour de force in acting....and Kenau Reeves does the opposite, nearly burying(Oh, this is fun!) this film under his almost lithium inspired dull, doe-eyed look in every scene-even when he sees the Count's hairy palms
I thought Ford wasn't so interested in doing this film-"It's been done to death" and then he read the screenplay and thought it an interesting enough spin on an oldie that it worth doing.
@edmonddantes64 Correct, the tilte is misleading because this is not Stoker's story. Sorry you didn't like the book, but it is a classic that has endured for over a century, while Coppola's film is less than 20 years old and is hardly a classic or a faithful adaptation. Coppola may have thought 'Dracula' had been "done to death," but I'm still waiting for an adaptation that actually gets the story right for once, with no annoying Mina/Dracula romance that never even happens in the book.
@44excalibur Well, in the book, it's fairly obvious that Dracula covets Mina, but there is no indication that the feeling is mutual. Ofcoarse if it had been the book would have been far less popular. During the period that the book was written vampires were commonly accepted as symbolising mans baser instincts, the main characters defeating the vampire was symbolic of their risiing above what was "evil" and "unwholsome" in themselves.
@ajkl27 Dracula didn't "covet" Mina in the book, Lucy was his original target. In fact, Dracula and Mina are only in one scene together in the book, where he breaks into her and Jonathan's bedroom, knocks Jonathan unconscious and threatens to kill him so Mina will cooperate. Then he bites her and forces her to drink his blood as a way of punishing her and Jonathan for working against him. Dracula did this for revenge, not coveting, and it's obvious in the book that Mina loves only Jonathan.
@ajkl27 And as for the book's themes, it's easy for people to speculate, but no one can know what was in Bram Stoker's mind when he wrote the book. One can deduce one thing about the novel: the fact that Dracula's presence is mostly in the background and Jonathan and Mina are in the foreground implies that the story is actually about them, with Dracula as an unseen destructive force, much like the shark in 'Jaws.' Stoker based Jonathan and Mina on himself and his wife.
@44excalibur I'm a little confused as to why you seem angry. I wasn't even disagreeing with you. I was agreeing that Bram Stokers Dracula is not a story about a romance between a vampire and a human and elaborating that it was highly unlikely for any book written at that time to have been since victorian culture would not have been receptive to it.
Sorry I got the two girls mixed up, I haven't read that book since sixth grade.
@ajkl27 Oh no, I'm not angry. I'm apologize if I sound like that. If I was angry I would've used exclamation points. I understand what you are saying. I do get a little touchy due to some people who haven't read the book and think of Coppola's movie version as canon, mostly because I was so moved by Stoker's depiction of Jonathan and Mina and I felt they were really mistreated and misrepresented by the movie. Once again, I'm sorry if I sounded angry.
I thought Stoker's book sucked. It had a long, long chase section that was just irritating narrative about how sly that count is!!....or something like that...man, I can truly write better stuff.
I didn't give a hill of beans about the Count. And he died like this after a ONE paragraph fight scene with the Count:To Quote:
"It was like a miracle, but before our very eyes, and almost in the drawing of a breath, the whole body crumbled into dust and passed from our sight."
dont get me wrong, im sure there much self indulgence in both movies but at least this movie didnt make me wanna wretch when i watched it. Twilight is so far up its own ass i hope for the rest of us it feckin stays there lol

'Dracula' is a classic of horror fiction, not romantic fiction, and I just didn't like the way Coppola changed the story, that's all. Sorry if I sounded rude.
@44excalibur Of course Dracula and Mina were in love!!?? My God, that is the whole point of the movie. Winona Ryder said it was not intended as a horror movie, but a love story....she even kisses the bloody, awful looking beast at the end, and slices his head off, only for love. Dracula is slow to suck Mina's blood for "I cannot condemn you to walk in the shadow of death for all eternity...I love you too much".
Personally, I thought the book SUCKED. I prefer Frankenstein.
@edmonddantes64 If you read the book then you know that Mina was NOT in love with Dracula and was devoted to Jonathan the whole time. Winona Ryder can say whatever she wants, the story belongs to Bram Stoker, not Ryder and not Coppola. It is a classic of HORROR literature, not romantic literature. great vid. at frist i didn't care for this song, but 2 be honest after listening it over and over and watching the slide show of gary and ms. ryder, i luv it rock on from the Uk!!
Magnificent movie! Song and pictures... so beautiful! And so was Mina in those gorgeous dresses. That red ball-gown was like red rose, so lovely and pure.
i love this song... i had my annual ballet performance today, and another class performed to this. I'm so jealous!!!! This song is just so danceable to (if that's a word :P). I was just doing arms to that the whole way through!!!
@VampireMadonna I agree it was a very fresh take on the Dracula lore. I really enjoyed it. I was like 20 i believe when it was released. The song has a very somber tragic love story feel to it. You know they are destined to be torn apart from one another.
This is mine and Gina's song, and we have crossed time and many obstacles to be together again, and nothing will stop us now. I love you heart and soul my eternal love.
Abraham "Bram" Stoker (8 November 184720 April 1912) was an Irish novelist and short story writer, best known today for his 1897 Gothic novel Dracula. During his lifetime, he was better known as the personal assistant of actor Henry Irving and business manager of the Lyceum Theatre in London, which Irving owned.
He wasn't in love with Jonathon in any way. He just wanted to be the one to kill him. He may have turned into a wolf or any monster to do it. He just demanded the vampire women keep him weak enough so he could take his life probably out of jealousy for being Mina's fiancee
he was so in-love with his Elizabetha/Mina and at one point loved her so much he didn't want to make her a vampire walking the earth un-dead but her love came through. I wish the film ended with them together in the castle forever in-love. These writers get it wrong sometimes. Great movie!!
No I have not read the book yet but have it in my bedroom drawer. I just haven't had time to read it yet. In fact It may be lost in the house when we recently renovated. You would know more than I if you have read the book. I always thought an adaptation meant the writers and producers took license and changed a few things. That's just how I interpreted the film but thanks for the info. I will read it asap Cheers
No I haven't read it yet. I have been looking for it but I may have to buy it again. I suppose it wouldn't make for good viewing if Dracula wasn't in-love with Mina. I am glad they changed it though. I just couldn't imagine that gorgeous Gary Oldman wanting Jonathon. Did you like the movie anyway despite the changes?
he probably liked Mina, but modern day readers, and perhaps a few during the time of Dracula's publishing, found the titular Vampire's reaction towards the brides' attempt at seducing Jonathan reading rather like a jealous fit from a man intending to keep Harker all to himself rather then keeping his evil plan from being unraveled.
and there's hand kissing, too, if I recall. there's actually serious scholarly argument over whether Stoker intended to portray Dracula as a depraved bisexual.
yes, i enjoyed the movie actually, but i liked the book more. Actually, there's some evidence to suggest that Stoker himself was bisexual. He was Henry Irving's personal assistant and had an enormous crush on him; the reason why he created Dracula in the first place was as a vehicle for his muse. Perhaps he saw himself as Jonathan Harker ... XD
That is so interesting. Thanks for all that info. People have such interesting and very different lives which I guess gives us such a variety of great works. Thanks again. I will read the book asap and see if there is some info on Stoker on the internet. Isn't Annie Lennox so talented. The song is beautiful.
I couldn't sleep and have been reading up on Stoker. I found this piece written about him.
Although clearly defining his viewpoint on sexuality as traditional, the subtleties in Stoker's novel put a more complex light on his true beliefs. Gender blurring is shown by Mina Harker and Lucy Westenra, but also by the men in the novel.
pt 2..Jonathan Harker in the Submissive Role In Jonathan Harker's experience with the female vampires in Dracula's castle, the sexual roles are reversed, with Jonathan lying helpless on the couch and actually fainting, while the three women are in control and imposing the fear (Stoker 45-47). The blonde vampire actually approaches Jonathan sexually, while he lays entranced on the couch (a woman who takes control of her sexuality is evil).
He is saved only by Count Dracula, who also seems to put Jonathan in a feminine position: "How dare you touch him, any of you? This man belongs to me! Yes, I too can loveI promise you that when I am done with him you shall kiss him at your will" (Stoker 46).
pt 4..I have just lost the page now but Stokers wife sued someone for making his book Dracula and changing it in the movie. It was not this Dracula I think but another although It may have always been called Dracula. Stoker explores the Victorian era and it's take on sexuality in it's time. Stoker died at the age of 31 from exhaustion. Apparently he was bed ridden until 7years old then excelled at sport when he was at school. He was ill a lot of his life
He was born in 1879 and died in 1912. He ws bed-ridden until he started school at 7yrs and even excelled in sport at some time in his years at school. He was often ill apparently. He was an Irishman something that I never would have thought. Probably his name made me think he was Eastern European. Well I am off to bed as it is after midnight and I have to be up at 6am for work. Hope you are having a great day. Goodnight
now that i consider it, i have read a lot of books about vampires and almost all have in them homoerotic scenes between vampires and humans.
and you probably know that "Dracula" by Bram Stoker was an inspiration to them( because it was one of the first books about vampires, that impressed the world), so it's highly probable that the scene between Dracula and Jonathan was the motivator for the homosexual relationships presented in those vampire books.
no, thank you for getting me interested in Bram Stoker. The fact that he was born in the 1879 makes the film even more "olden" if you can use that word on it's own. Still, Gary Oldman just made my heart pound in my heart that I would walk for an eternity as his wife. Amazing stuff. Thanks again lemon. From maryS.
the movie was called Nosferatu, the black and white silent movie. Rather good, few Nosferatu movies exist due tot he fact that they were mostly destroyed.
copy-write was still inaction due to the fact the Bram Stoker's wife/ (Daughter?)/relative renewed it. Nosferatu was too similar even with different characters within. So it was illegally made so it was destroyed.
@mary88stella1 don't listen to that guy. In Bram Stoker's novel it is never implied that Dracula is in love with anyone, Jonathan or Mina. The only love story in the novel is between Jonathan and Mina, not Dracula.
Watching that film always makes me feel very hot and bothered, my imagination just goes to all sorts of places... deleting, deleting, deleting..........

All i can say is that if your a true romantic, a true believer in love, then this is the movie for you. Im a mans man but i openly wept the first time he saw her in london. Never an actor was well suited for such a role. Look what his god did to him. Its rare an actor can convay such feeling in just a look. Outstaning!!!!!!!
too beautiful a story. that prince traveled oceans of time to find his love. in the name of love, god will forgive him and let him join his beloved wife elizabeth in the heaven.

Odd question, but still related.
Anyone in the U.K. visited Madame Tussuads in Blackpool?
They show a scene from this movie there, in the horror section.
And in the background is Annie Lennox singing "Love Song For A Vampire"
But It's a few yrs since I've been.... I cannot remember which one it was.
This is a really good, and poignant horror film with a beautiful soundtrack.
I love the snowy scenes at 1:25 and 3:08! Looks beautiful and peaceful! :)

@VampireMadonna I agree it was a very fresh take on the Dracula lore. I really enjoyed it. I was like 20 i believe when it was released. The song has a very somber tragic love story feel to it. You know they are destined to be torn apart from one another.

Abraham "Bram" Stoker (8 November 184720 April 1912) was an Irish novelist and short story writer, best known today for his 1897 Gothic novel Dracula. During his lifetime, he was better known as the personal assistant of actor Henry Irving and business manager of the Lyceum Theatre in London, which Irving owned.

in the book, Dracula was kinda in love with Jonathan, cause he was jealous when those vampire women tried to seduce jonathan :P
lemonfreak92 2 years ago
He wasn't in love with Jonathon in any way. He just wanted to be the one to kill him. He may have turned into a wolf or any monster to do it. He just demanded the vampire women keep him weak enough so he could take his life probably out of jealousy for being Mina's fiancee
mary88stella1 2 years ago
he was so in-love with his Elizabetha/Mina and at one point loved her so much he didn't want to make her a vampire walking the earth un-dead but her love came through. I wish the film ended with them together in the castle forever in-love. These writers get it wrong sometimes. Great movie!!
mary88stella1 2 years ago
uh, hello, have you read the book?
this movie is an adaptation of "Dracula" written by Bram Stoker. And it's wrong, because Dracula, in the original book wasn't in love with Mina.
some critics even said that it was a higher probability of Dracula being in love with Jonathan, than with Mina.
read the book.
lemonfreak92 2 years ago
No I have not read the book yet but have it in my bedroom drawer. I just haven't had time to read it yet. In fact It may be lost in the house when we recently renovated. You would know more than I if you have read the book. I always thought an adaptation meant the writers and producers took license and changed a few things. That's just how I interpreted the film but thanks for the info. I will read it asap Cheers
mary88stella1 2 years ago
No I haven't read it yet. I have been looking for it but I may have to buy it again. I suppose it wouldn't make for good viewing if Dracula wasn't in-love with Mina. I am glad they changed it though. I just couldn't imagine that gorgeous Gary Oldman wanting Jonathon. Did you like the movie anyway despite the changes?
mary88stella1 2 years ago
pt2 .. maybe Bram Stoker was gay
mary88stella1 2 years ago
he probably liked Mina, but modern day readers, and perhaps a few during the time of Dracula's publishing, found the titular Vampire's reaction towards the brides' attempt at seducing Jonathan reading rather like a jealous fit from a man intending to keep Harker all to himself rather then keeping his evil plan from being unraveled.
and there's hand kissing, too, if I recall. there's actually serious scholarly argument over whether Stoker intended to portray Dracula as a depraved bisexual.
lemonfreak92 2 years ago
yes, i enjoyed the movie actually, but i liked the book more. XD
lemonfreak92 2 years ago
That is so interesting. Thanks for all that info. People have such interesting and very different lives which I guess gives us such a variety of great works. Thanks again. I will read the book asap and see if there is some info on Stoker on the internet. Isn't Annie Lennox so talented. The song is beautiful.
mary88stella1 2 years ago
you're welcome, i'm glad i could help. and yes, this song is brilliant.
lemonfreak92 2 years ago
I couldn't sleep and have been reading up on Stoker. I found this piece written about him.
Although clearly defining his viewpoint on sexuality as traditional, the subtleties in Stoker's novel put a more complex light on his true beliefs. Gender blurring is shown by Mina Harker and Lucy Westenra, but also by the men in the novel.
mary88stella1 2 years ago
pt 2..Jonathan Harker in the Submissive Role In Jonathan Harker's experience with the female vampires in Dracula's castle, the sexual roles are reversed, with Jonathan lying helpless on the couch and actually fainting, while the three women are in control and imposing the fear (Stoker 45-47). The blonde vampire actually approaches Jonathan sexually, while he lays entranced on the couch (a woman who takes control of her sexuality is evil).
mary88stella1 2 years ago
He is saved only by Count Dracula, who also seems to put Jonathan in a feminine position: "How dare you touch him, any of you? This man belongs to me! Yes, I too can loveI promise you that when I am done with him you shall kiss him at your will" (Stoker 46).
mary88stella1 2 years ago
pt 4..I have just lost the page now but Stokers wife sued someone for making his book Dracula and changing it in the movie. It was not this Dracula I think but another although It may have always been called Dracula. Stoker explores the Victorian era and it's take on sexuality in it's time. Stoker died at the age of 31 from exhaustion. Apparently he was bed ridden until 7years old then excelled at sport when he was at school. He was ill a lot of his life
mary88stella1 2 years ago
He was born in 1879 and died in 1912. He ws bed-ridden until he started school at 7yrs and even excelled in sport at some time in his years at school. He was often ill apparently. He was an Irishman something that I never would have thought. Probably his name made me think he was Eastern European. Well I am off to bed as it is after midnight and I have to be up at 6am for work. Hope you are having a great day. Goodnight
mary88stella1 2 years ago
wow, thanks for all this information.
now that i consider it, i have read a lot of books about vampires and almost all have in them homoerotic scenes between vampires and humans.
and you probably know that "Dracula" by Bram Stoker was an inspiration to them( because it was one of the first books about vampires, that impressed the world), so it's highly probable that the scene between Dracula and Jonathan was the motivator for the homosexual relationships presented in those vampire books.
lemonfreak92 2 years ago
no, thank you for getting me interested in Bram Stoker.

InvaderTak176 2 years ago
why were they destroyed?
nfmblossoming 2 years ago
copy-write was still inaction due to the fact the Bram Stoker's wife/ (Daughter?)/relative renewed it. Nosferatu was too similar even with different characters within. So it was illegally made so it was destroyed.
InvaderTak176 2 years ago
that is sooo not cool... it is the best movie~
nfmblossoming 2 years ago
@mary88stella1 don't listen to that guy. In Bram Stoker's novel it is never implied that Dracula is in love with anyone, Jonathan or Mina. The only love story in the novel is between Jonathan and Mina, not Dracula.
