When art is made intuitively rather than using things like a template, it becomes spiritual, expressive. That is the difference between fine art and craft. I LOVE you atree3!
I have made quilts with prescribed pieces and still been able to be creative by use of color and print in the fabric. Still can be challenging and rewarding, but the pieceing is MUCH easier.
The Gee's Bend (pronounced Jeez) quilters did not just throw those pieces together -- works like that would not end up in art museums.

Truly inspiring. And remember: the art begins when you stop thinking. ;)

Everybody else thinks, and good has it done them? Just let the fabric do what it wants.

I concur w/ tushygalor. It will be a wonderful quilt when you're done.

the tulip has it all encoded already. BE the TULIP...BE the TULIP...
Start working and let it happen.
You're right though. What you've got on the wall is too busy. Too contrived. You have to think outside the quilt.
