I have a cat that's pretty fat and overweight by 5 pounds and he's already a Diabetic. A dog can excercise with walks, but I would think it's uncommon to walk a cat. I wonder how to get him to work out. And it's mostly always from over feeding the animal, my grandmother and uncle always over fed him. It's so unfornute for that dog.
