@ZeroDestroyer cant answer for this band as I am just finding them now. But I do know a TON more Djent bands utilize vocals. I think you just keep finding the ones that are instrumental bands.
I fucking hate Djent. I'll give it's respect or whatever. But all is it is up beat rhythm with a few good breakdowns. Where the FUCK are the vocals? I mean, I'm not one to go into your personal music digest, but Djent metal could be alot more brutal with vocals
@fornever5656 their okay... if your guna abuse the synthesizer, do it right. Never Met A Dead Man hit the nail on the head with their entire album. Prog Rock/Metal is starting to sound all the same. Same winey ass voices, same rhythm, same pitch. Djent is just another jump-off of that fact.
@ZeroDestroyer Some Djent is better without vocals, some. Personally I love hearing instrumental tracks/bands because i feel it creates more of atmosphere if you get what i'm saying. Also, I love hearing how well produced it is and the technicality of the playing on guitar/bass/drums.
@samuelc93 I do agree, but at the same time, I feel as if the vocals give off the persona of the band. I just hate finding a song or band that I like and then realize they could have so much more potential
eee, i love cloudkicker(mainly his more acoustic album). the man is brilliant at layering though i do have one dislike of the harder stuff...just about everyone of the harder tunes sounds the same when it starts...like the drum cymbal is doing the same thing and yea, anyone else notice this? "let yourself be huge" is one of my most favorite albums ever btw, i am not ripping on mister sharp
All I see on here are people arguing over what genre it is and others complaining telling everyone to stop.. here's an idea- don't say anything. @everybody! Metal isn't a genre it's a hard substance that conducts heat and electricity... oh wait, maybe the meanings of words change overtime when a people group ascribes different meanings to them even if they don't represent the original intention of the word. Something to think about.
with free time, genius, instuments, and a good program you get beauty. and deathcore is its own genre, djent is extreemly different style of music. not only for its tone but the layered style.
Stop grouping Djent with Deathcore. Djent is just a guitar tone invented by Meshuggah, while the genre is grouped into as "Progressive/Extreeme Progressive Metal", call it what you want. Meanwhile, Deathcore is a genre. ( a real crappy one)
@risky41 Generalizing Djent simply into a guitar tone is a disservice to some real creativity from musicians and the birth of a new sub-genre in Metal.
@risky41 djent is definitely a genre. "indie" wasnt a genre when it first started, it just meant an independent artist... and what started as the name for a guitar tone now describes a full genre
for someone trying to school others in genres, you could at least pick hardcore bands when trying to define them.... progressive/technical metalcore bands (or deathcore) are very different to hardcore

@lawlawlowned Not that it particularly matters what it's called, I think the variation of the group of bands who are referred to as 'djent' from the sound of genres they could otherwise be placed in warrants the creation of the new genre. That aside, it is not like words have inherent meaning. Genres are understood to be as such due to popular usage. Also, if we're being picky about genres, Meshuggah is progressive or technical metal, and none of those bands you listed are straight 'hardcore.'

Even though I love metal of all my heart, I still prefer the good old stuff to this. Chopin and Mozart would own any metal band any day in compositional ability. ; )
@FreddyVanHalen5150 Really goes to show your knowledge of metal composition. More of your top tier metal guitarists have HEAVY classical influences. Randy Rhoads, Megadeth, Children of Bodom etc. Alot of the songs can be composed into classical pieces. I am sure that either composer could compose a metal song.
@TheSolidspruce84 No it doesn't show my knowledge. Don't be an internet twat. One comment cannot give you a full impression of musical knowledge. I'm fully aware of classical influences in metal, but thats not the point. Could this song be arranged into a classical sounding piece? Possibly. Would it have been done by a classical composer? No. Because it's completely different from what they would know. Now i don't wanna listen to you spout off about things im aware of.
Too many people bitchin about who's better and who started djent... facts are facts meshuggah was first and will always be the best... now that bein said shut up and enjoy this shit its awesome too!!!
@accretioncleansing meshuggah being first is fact, 'always be the best' is not fact, but probably true. although i hope something better comes out, that would be godlike
@silentjaybob345 dude pull your head out of your ass meshuggah started this way of playing guitar and music since the 90's the only reason periphery exist is because of them. you djent fucks suck your starting to ruin metal music and making nothing but shit not music!!!!!!
@BigAlBore3591 Meshuggah didnt invent the playing style, there were alot of bands doing this back in the day (since the 80's), but meshuggah made it sound good. And Djent would be a good genre if it were purely instrumental (Meshuggah discluded)
@DKbrown12 ...really? It's a picture of an album cover, bro. This wasn't funny the first time I read it nor was it funny the following 100+ times and it's certainly not funny now that you've copied and pasted it here. Either quit posting comments or be original.
@SamuriHamster Well, videos that get compressed to 240 also get the sound molested quite badly, so it's as valid here as it is with regular music videos. People who upload these songs and think that the resolution doesn't matter because it's just a still image might not think it matters, but it does. 240p only gets 60kb/s of sound quality while 320p and up get 128 kb/s (you know, the bitrate where most people used to think an mp3 sounded awesome)
@Gore1NOT1Core Um no. Are you that retarded? Or do you just know nothing of how converting between different codecs works? It's like saying I can convert a lossy (shitty) mp3 to a lossless flas file (original size & quality - perfect copy from studio).
Ok, I clicked on this video accidentally... I just recovered from falling from my chair to the floor and writhing in ecstasy during the entire length of the song. This is exactly the kind of music I had been searching for a long time.
I guess Tosin doesn't think much of Meshuggah either?? I mean this guy is talented beyond all and i'll bet he idolizes them! Him and Misha have been influenced by Meshuggah more than any other artist(s) and I know in Misha's interviews he contends that M is 10 years ahead of their time at least. I think he also contends they are from another planet...
@Xaldin003 watch?v=smujB6PdMyE is saying that they are minimalist on guitar 'cause too much focus on the low register! is not really saying "this is shit" he just thinks himself an higher level guitar player
@MrSwac31 he never even came close to saying that. he even said he loves meshugga theyre one of his favorite bands. how you ever construed what he said to be negative is absolutely beyond me.
Meshuggah is washed up? What fckn retard made that statement??? Ask Misha and just about EVERY guitar player and or band member of the bands you think arent washed up what THEY think of Meshuggah.
@GagaMan214 I said it, YOU MAD BRO? It's fine to be influenced by the sound of the guitar, and I never denied Fredrik Thordendal coined the term "djent". But that doesn't mean there can't be better guitarists out there using the same style. And fuck Misha too, Periphery blows. He's better off doing a solo project with Keith Merrow or Ben Sharp. Tosin Abasi would kick the shit out of Fredrik on guitar, so would John Browne and Jason Richardson, and Jason is only 20.
@Dissimulatex why all the who kicks the shit out of who talk?... sure, some of these young players can play some amazing guitar gymnastics...but whats that got to do with originality, being innovative, having a sense of taste, musicianship as well as musical "vision"? (fredriks domain, all 4 aspects) ....blazing technique doesnt make good music...when Meshuggah puts out their next release this year ALL of these guitarists will run to the store to get their copy...yes, Misha needs to go solo!
Shut the fuck up about djent. Half of you fuckers can't even pronounce the word correctly. It's not a genre, it's a guitar tone. It's an amazing sound and makes great bands even greater, but you sound like a fucking retard going all "LOL, DJENT-TASTIC! GOOD JOB DJENTLEMEN!!" .. when you do that, you're no better than some trendy emo kid who listens to bands he/she does not actually like just to fit in. Oh and one last thing, BOWOWs are much greater than djents.
djent?

Randy Rhoads, Megadeth, Children of Bodom etc. Alot of the songs can be composed into classical pieces. I am sure that either composer could compose a metal song.
TheSolidspruce84 3 months ago
@TheSolidspruce84 No it doesn't show my knowledge. Don't be an internet twat. One comment cannot give you a full impression of musical knowledge. I'm fully aware of classical influences in metal, but thats not the point. Could this song be arranged into a classical sounding piece? Possibly. Would it have been done by a classical composer? No. Because it's completely different from what they would know. Now i don't wanna listen to you spout off about things im aware of.
FreddyVanHalen5150 3 months ago
@FreddyVanHalen5150 No, I was replying to the fact that you said that Mozart and Chopin could not write heavy metal.

@accretioncleansing Meshuggahs great I just think their tone is too treble heavy on the ears
TheWilderMusic 3 months ago
@accretioncleansing technically Sol Niger Within was before Meshuggah.
SuperColossal33 3 months ago
@accretioncleansing meshuggah being first is fact, 'always be the best' is not fact, but probably true. although i hope something better comes out, that would be godlike
imbaguitar 3 months ago
@accretioncleansing too bad meshuggah sucks and periphery actually made djent sound good :)
silentjaybob345 3 months ago
@silentjaybob345 dude pull your head out of your ass meshuggah started this way of playing guitar and music since the 90's the only reason periphery exist is because of them. you djent fucks suck your starting to ruin metal music and making nothing but shit not music!!!!!!
BigAlBore3591 3 months ago
@BigAlBore3591 Meshuggah didnt invent the playing style, there were alot of bands doing this back in the day (since the 80's), but meshuggah made it sound good. And Djent would be a good genre if it were purely instrumental (Meshuggah discluded)

@DKbrown12 ...really? It's a picture of an album cover, bro. This wasn't funny the first time I read it nor was it funny the following 100+ times and it's certainly not funny now that you've copied and pasted it here. Either quit posting comments or be original.
SamuriHamster 6 months ago
@SamuriHamster Well, videos that get compressed to 240 also get the sound molested quite badly, so it's as valid here as it is with regular music videos. People who upload these songs and think that the resolution doesn't matter because it's just a still image might not think it matters, but it does. 240p only gets 60kb/s of sound quality while 320p and up get 128 kb/s (you know, the bitrate where most people used to think an mp3 sounded awesome)

@DKbrown12 Guy complaining about the 240p Quality, we meet again
TheDarknez100 5 months ago 36
@DKbrown12 didn't know video quality mattered with album artwork being the only thing shown in the video.
NortheastAshtin 5 months ago
@NortheastAshtin it not only compresses the video but also the audio. try listening to audio at 1080p then listen to 240p
deshawnpenrose 5 months ago
@deshawnpenrose 240p uploaded in HD still beats 1080p uploaded at regular quality.
Gore1NOT1Core 4 months ago
@Gore1NOT1Core It can't be HD and 240p and it can't be regular quality at 1080p.
TirshyBars 4 months ago
@Gore1NOT1Core Um no. Are you that retarded? Or do you just know nothing of how converting between different codecs works? It's like saying I can convert a lossy (shitty) mp3 to a lossless flas file (original size & quality - perfect copy from studio).
You are an idiot...
gir1258 4 months ago
@gir1258 lol why you mad?
Gore1NOT1Core 4 months ago
@Gore1NOT1Core Not really, just called you out for being an idiot. Or troll. However you want to label yourself, I could care less.
gir1258 4 months ago
"Couldn't care less" is the grammatically correct way of saying that expression, and I would consider myself neither idiot nor troll :).
Gore1NOT1Core 4 months ago
@Gore1NOT1Core I could care less = I could give less care than I already do. I do care to an extent, but I could definitely have less care.
mine grammar > youre grammar

i only clicked on this cuz the bands name was interesting
9sactown1skater6 6 months ago
Ok, I clicked on this video accidentally... I just recovered from falling from my chair to the floor and writhing in ecstasy during the entire length of the song. This is exactly the kind of music I had been searching for a long time.
TheBrokenFibula 6 months ago 2
I guess Tosin doesn't think much of Meshuggah either?? I mean this guy is talented beyond all and i'll bet he idolizes them! Him and Misha have been influenced by Meshuggah more than any other artist(s) and I know in Misha's interviews he contends that M is 10 years ahead of their time at least. I think he also contends they are from another planet...
GagaMan214 6 months ago
@GagaMan214 i'm sorry but watch some intereview of tosin, in one he's almost saying that Meshuggah is shit!
MrSwac31 6 months ago in playlist Not yet classifed song
@MrSwac31 Can you link me to that interview?
Xaldin003 6 months ago
@Xaldin003 watch?v=smujB6PdMyE is saying that they are minimalist on guitar 'cause too much focus on the low register! is not really saying "this is shit" he just thinks himself an higher level guitar player
MrSwac31 6 months ago
@MrSwac31 he never even came close to saying that. he even said he loves meshugga theyre one of his favorite bands. how you ever construed what he said to be negative is absolutely beyond me.
synawat 6 months ago
Meshuggah is washed up? What fckn retard made that statement??? Ask Misha and just about EVERY guitar player and or band member of the bands you think arent washed up what THEY think of Meshuggah.
GagaMan214 6 months ago
@GagaMan214 I said it, YOU MAD BRO? It's fine to be influenced by the sound of the guitar, and I never denied Fredrik Thordendal coined the term "djent". But that doesn't mean there can't be better guitarists out there using the same style. And fuck Misha too, Periphery blows. He's better off doing a solo project with Keith Merrow or Ben Sharp. Tosin Abasi would kick the shit out of Fredrik on guitar, so would John Browne and Jason Richardson, and Jason is only 20.
Dissimulatex 6 months ago
@Dissimulatex why all the who kicks the shit out of who talk?... sure, some of these young players can play some amazing guitar gymnastics...but whats that got to do with originality, being innovative, having a sense of taste, musicianship as well as musical "vision"? (fredriks domain, all 4 aspects) ....blazing technique doesnt make good music...when Meshuggah puts out their next release this year ALL of these guitarists will run to the store to get their copy...yes, Misha needs to go solo!
GagaMan214 6 months ago
Shut the fuck up about djent. Half of you fuckers can't even pronounce the word correctly. It's not a genre, it's a guitar tone. It's an amazing sound and makes great bands even greater, but you sound like a fucking retard going all "LOL, DJENT-TASTIC! GOOD JOB DJENTLEMEN!!" .. when you do that, you're no better than some trendy emo kid who listens to bands he/she does not actually like just to fit in. Oh and one last thing, BOWOWs are much greater than djents.
