Isn't this the album Phil Spector produced? I owned it but only listened to it once. As talented as Spector was, as much as his musical legacy amounts to, Spector just really fouled up what was Cohen's own natural way of doing things. You can't put Leonard into a package to suit what the mainstream masses want to hear. This is the first time hearing this song that I recall, and it really is nothing like Leonard's usual gloriously talented work! But it's Leonard and he's magnificent.

@slytheypoo it's true! I remember reading about that probably in rolling stone or the weekly I worked for at the time. I bought the album, listened to it once and put it away! It just wasn't the L.C. I was used to.
