  • Nothing 'old' about this hymn. Yes,it's a hymn. I got saved mid 70's and seenig their faces (the group)again is like seeing old friends. One of the best songs ever written, no doubt. Simple and powerful.

  • Some of the best music came out during this time in history . The music is for all from 2nd Chapter of Acts to Larry Norman , Barry MC Quire Phil Keaggy Keith Green and many more . Many of these songs are 30 years old or more and I am blessed still even though I am hitting a very rough Patch in my life at the moment these songs remind me of Gods Love Grace and Peace of the Holy Spirit. It is so sad now that all music is is manufactured , commercial , You will not here music like this ever again.

  • a song full of salvation message hear the bells ringing theyre sing we can be born again

  • I Remember Hearing This For The First Time Performed By The 2nd Chapter Of Acts Easter Morning at a Church They Called There Home Church Before They Moved To Texas From Ca . I Am Going through Hell On Earth Right Now And Was So Glad I Found This. I Do Have Dyslexia So If There Is Any Broken Sentences or Misspellings

I Am Sorry .I Also Saw Them With Barry McGuire Along With Others At The Shrine Auditorium In Los Angeles . Does Anyone Know If The Shrine Recording Is Available ? If So Where .

  • HE IS RISEN, JUST AS HE SAID! ...JESUS CHRIST IS NO LONGER DEAD! :D

  • This is a timeless classic that will live on till Christ returns!

  • That "girl in the middle" is Annie's sister Nelly.

  • My wife and I were also, unexpectedly, born again in 1979 and baptised together on Easter Sunday 1980. This was one of my favourite tracks from that period, a period of simple yet very meaningful Christian music which we seem to lack today. 2nd Chapter dominated, Barry McG, the Vineyard Fellowship down under and many others have stayed with me all my Christian life. Unfortunately I no longer have playable records or tapes. To my son and others: Yes, the 2nd world war had ended by 1979.

  • @betelorg My husband and I were also "unexpectedly" Born Again, but on Mother's day 1974.

The Christian music then was awsome because

1- The Baby Boomer/Flower Child/Hippies, were being saved in droves. We had seen evil, and were so grateful to be rescued

2-many entertainers like Barry Maguire and Bob Dylan were saved

3- The great music from the '60's/'70's was combined with great talent, and incredible heart motivation.

These 3 don't exist together today.

  • For those that ask and didn't have the opportunity to read the introductory notes, this track is from the live album, "To the Bride," a Jesus Music Classic, featuring Barry McGuire, 2nd Chapter of Acts, and A Band Called David. "Easter Song" is performed in this track by the 2nd Chapter of Acts. It was one of the classic Jesus Music records (a double-album set) that my friends and I listed to. My friend Scott H. introduced me to this particular collection.

  • @wisereyes had this on vinyl, and cannot find it in any other format. One of my top 10 albums.

  • @mbingaman777 This may have been my first Christian Album. It is the 1st fruits of the Jesus Movement - former Hippies, Flower Children and Druggies

Our joy in Him was boundless!

'he who is forgiven much, loves much'.

We had been forgiven and saved from much!!

  • This is what we had in the 1970's, It was great.

  • The album that Matthew Ward did which had Phil Keaggy on it, also had Keith Green and others well known. It wasn't an angel leaning against a jukebox, but rather a whole Angel Band on a stage and Ward sitting in hte audience listening! I have it on Vinyl and cassette, and some on CD. Excellent stuff! i also have The "How The West Was One" on cassette... AWESOME is right!!! Phil is the best!!!

  • Hi, Annie Hearing is singing the highest part, that girl in the middle, the eldest sister of Matthew....1974 Easter Song is from the album "with footnotes" from "2nd Chapter of the Acts".

I have the live double album from 1979 with them and phil keaggy and "the band called David", the album called "How the west was one". Awesome!!!!

  • Aww thank,. from a former Flower Child saved and a part of the Jesus movement!

My husband and I moved to Dallas early '70's and attended church with the owner of Word Records.

Any other Jesus/Flower Child folks out there who remember how electrifying this music was?

    - Who remember the mighty movement of God, rescuing the Flower Children from destruction?

This song was HUGE then. A way of worshipping that Flower Children could understand.

    brings tears to my eyes.

    thanks Thanks thanks

  • Which one of the girls is singing the high parts on the He Is Risen chorus ?

  • @BipolarPics

Hi, Annie Hearing is singing the highest part, that girl in the middle, the eldest sister of Matthew....1974 Easter Song is from the album "with footnotes" from "2nd Chapter of the Acts".

  • I remember having this album on 8-track. It was recorded ONTO an 8-track tape by someone else, actually. This was about 1980. Great to hear it again after all these years, the entire album was an absolute, timeless Christian classic. How the world has changed over the past 30 years, I'm afraid not for the better, but I guess that shouldn't surprise me.

  • @all66books

I have the live double album from 1979 with them and phil keaggy and "the band called David", the album called "How the west was one". Awesome!!!!

  • I still remember seeing them and Barry Mcguire in 75 in Pittsburgh.

  • @woodybear57 My husband and I were born again 1974. Moved to Dallas and was a fellow church member of an owner of Word records.

This song is one of a group that defines my young Christian love affair with Jesus.

I was SO SO grateful to be snatched out of the evil of the hippie '60's culture!

  • So brill I love this

  • Ya Phil did work with Matthew on his, I think Only, solo album also a Maranatha Project.

  • Try the Keith Green version of this song, it has a lot more "heart".

  • I am familiar with and like both versions. Thanks for the heads up.

  • WOW 1 MATTHEW had an albunm w/ this Angel leaning up agenst a juke box, I think on Maranatha records. What a great album, I think Phik Keggy played on this album, as he did on 2nd Chapt. recordings. Anyway Help?

  • Barry toured with 2nd Chapter of Acts and "A Band Called David" in 1975 and this collaborative effort resulted in the double live album, "To the Bride," from which this version of "Easter Song" was taken. Without digging out my vinyl and looking at the liner notes, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Phil Keaggy did some session work for either 2nd Chapter of Acts or Barry McGuire.

  • @wisereyes I was at the main concert in Oakland Ca. where they did much of the recording of it. It was a great concert and a friend of mine became a believer there. Wonder if he remembers the concert. PEACE

    Alan

  • @wisereyes I want to hear "In the Courts of the King," w/ Ted Sanquist. No, I mean, "Lion of Judah."

  • @ he worked with both groups, he was great, but then they all are. ptl.

  • @wisereyes Phil did play with those artist's albums. In those days he was very intimidated by the sophisticated charts Michael Omartian would write, that he would sit out and let the session players play. After the band recorded Phil would overdub lead guitar. One producer who worked with him told me, "Phil never plays his solos the same way, he always plays in the moment."

There can be a real difference between a great session player and a great artist. Both are very valuable.

  • How do they get such a full sound with only 3! Beautiful.

  • @rejhhill, I agree. They have wonderful voices!

  • I love this song!

I know its old now, but thats ok!

I never get to hear any Christian songs as the radio here like sucks!

This brings me back to my friend and her boyfriend and we use to all hang out and do stuff together!

    Beautiful song anytime of year!

  • Thanks for your comments.

  • Saw both Keith Green and 2nd Chapter of Acts sing this back in the day. 2nd Chapter's is the version that stuck with me all these years.

  • What a blessing that must have been. I was fortunate to have seen both in concert too. I had to drop something off at Keith's hotel room, as a representative for the college I was attending at the time. I met Keith and Melody at that time.

  • @wisereyes Yes, yes,- It WAS a blessing then! I was born-again may 1974. I had been an active anti-war demonstrator and Flower Child. Jesus was not even remotely in my mind.

Like millions of others, we found the WE - however, - were always in Jesus' mind.

For whatever was Our father's purpose, His Spirit grabbed us and made us His children.

Not 'children of flowers', but BORN AGAIN CHILDREN OF THE RISEN LORD>

    AMEN

What a blessing to be part of thei revolutionary new Christian music and the

  • @macpduff what a wonderful testimony God bless you.

  • This was one of the earliest contemporary Christian songs... by 2nd chapter of Acts... the lead singer, Annie Herring, wrote the song...

  • I think Keith Green sang it better, although 2nd Chapter of Acts were the ones who wrote the song, so I commend them for that.

  • thanks!

  • My daddy played at Son Festival Myrtle Beach with these guys back in the day. This song brings me home!

  • Being home is the most wonderful place to be. Thanks for letting me know.

  • Very nice

    Thanks for upload

May Jesus Christ bless you with His Divine Love and Grace.

    JEZUSTUBE †♥†

  • It is so beautiful to hear this again.

  • It's so nice to hear this again.. thanks for posting it.

I love the way Mathew's voice weaves through his sister's voices.. so beautiful.

  • Thanks.

  • This song is ON an popping....I just love it...it gives me chills every time I listen to it. God is so amazing...and He surely is alive :)

  • Thanks!

  • Do you have the song "Jesus People" that Barry McGuire sings on this album? Loved it as a child and haven't heard it since! Thanks if you put it up!!!!

  • I'll check to see if I have that one, Mitty310.

  • thankyou for posting , it was great seeing them singing this song live

  • You are quite welcome. I'm amazed by the interest, with over 13,000 views since I put it up over eight months ago. Just when I think interest in Jesus Music has died down, I'm encouraged by this kind of response.

  • Wow, this song is lovely. I was listening to it on VCAST and it made me fall in love with all over again. =]

  • Thanks, Patty Mayo.

  • The Easter Song...This is a song that you will hear in heaven

  • What a glorious sound that will be!

  • I love Anne's voice. This version comes from where? I have the original studio version on Myrrh.

  • This track is from "To the Bride," a double live album featuring Barry McGuire, 2nd Chapter of Acts, and A Band Called David.

  • Thanks for that. I caught Barry McGuire live a couple of times live in the UK. (1970's) he was the same chap who had a hit with "eve of destruction" although I think that was before his conversion (but don't quote me on that)

  • Yes, I think you are right about "Eve of Destruction" coming before his conversion. It's good to hear from you.

  • Nice song. Parts of it sound like it could be a Christmas song.

    Alleluia! Christ Is Risen!

  • Christmas and Easter are really the same story, aren't they? Christ is Risen, indeed!

  • cool song

  • i HAD to hear this song today. thx for posting it.

  • You are quite welcome. I enjoyed getting it ready. I hope we see more Jesus Music on You Tube. It should be more than a footnote.

  • 2nd Cahpter of Acts had a uniquely spiritual blend of harmony and a Presence that was Blessed Of God.

  • Beautiful song!

  • Thank you so very much! It seems like yesterday when I heard it for the very first time! 35years later they still bless me so! Our brother, Keith rejoices before the Lord , everyday is Easter for him! Praise the Name of Jesus Christ Forever & ever!

  • Thanks for the upload - Contrary to popular belief it was not written by Keith Green, but by Anne Herring of 2nd Chapter of Acts. 1974 Latter Rain Music. Keith's version of the song is also great though. later

  • Of course. My journalism back ground told me I should have verified that before posting. At one time, I knew that as well as the back of my hand, but time is stealing my brain cells, one at a time. Thanks for the correction.
