  • @nnicholss Haha, yes, exactly how I felt when I listened to it for the irst time (and well, now too).

  • People are surprisingly bad at interpreting lyrics on the internet...

    "Did I forget/Lay myself down/Just to regret/And that's all"

  • OMG! I love it!!! Good to hear Mazzy Star is back.

  • Talk about some 90's nostalgia. I feel like I have gotten into a time machine and wound up in 1995. Thank You Mazzy Star!

  • i like this much more than common burn (the A side track)

  • its like country music done the right way. mazzy star goes hard in the f***** paint

  • such an awesome song sung by such and incredible singer :)

  • Amazing how their new music brings me back to riding my bike listening to their old music in the early 90's.

    Hope...marry me.

  • mazzy de nuevo! extraordinario!..david robak y hope otra vez wow!

  • Total time machine.

  • mazzy star es lo mejor k hay!!

  • Love how they throw hints of country grooves in there. Basic straight-ahead slow/mid tempo light rock/country/alternative/Velvet Underground/soaring guitar/Hope's perfect voice= bliss!

  • sounds like harvest moon

  • Hope is riduclously beautiful

  • New Mazzy!! Heaven.

  • That "spector" photo of them @ :15 is an instant Mazzy classic.

  • Brilliant.

  • mazzt star are the best thing that ever happen to deep deprecation . sail on.

  • I hear her sing "Did I forgive laying myself down" in the first chorus.

I hear forget clearly in the second chorus.

Does she ever change words in the chorus? I can't remember.

    2nd verse:

I'll never know how far I'll go

I hear: I'll never know how far, how long

  • @ayundame Thanks. you nailed "how far, how long". My first attempt had "forgive" in 1st chorus, but later decided it was likely "forget".

  • Nice... her voice is still amazing

  • This is kind of a weaker imitation of I've Been Let Down.

  • @mikeusat For me this is akin to Fade Into You and Ride it on, similar grooves, but different guitar chords. I've been let down has a chord progression G F C. Lay myself down has two main progressions D Am C for the verses and C G D for the chorus.

  • Update: It took a few days to realize this upload was recorded from the streamed audio at a lower volume level than I'd have liked (my fault). Depending on ones audio set-up, this could pose a listening problem, or be an annoyance (or not), so I have a new, 2nd upload of Lay Myself Down available, recorded louder, i.e. at a higher volume level (see the video description for its YT URL), so listeners can take their pick!

  • Love these, but I hope the new album has some heavier material also- like Blue Flower.

  • Beavis and Butt-head returning and a new Mazzy Star album confirmed. 90s revival amidst. The 2 new songs are very dear to me.

  • can't wait to hear more...

  • very cool and lush, glorious ..

  • Hope is great on her own and the Warm Inventions thing is great, but Hope & Dave together is the nuts! Lookin' forward to the new record....

  • absolutelyyyyyy beautifullllllllllll

  • Sounds pretty good to me, especially considering it's a b-side, and the absence of new material in this many years.

  • or maybe...i just need to listen to it a little more

  • its amazing that shes releasing an album and everything...but somehow it doesnt feel like the songs she used to make...those were so...mystical...

  • finally!!!

oh hell, its been so long!!!!
