They did it on purpose so the movie goer sees and clearly understands that it's Mario's shop. It's all about the movie comprehension and experience. It's not until someone with a creative mind see that and realizes that in reality it would be backwards to the people coming into the store (whom are the one's the writing is intended for) There's no flipping anything, there's no mistake, it's just that in movies things like this need to be done for the viewer.

Sometimes they flip shots in movies to make something flow better, but I'm not sure it makes a difference here. If it was on purpose, that'd be kinda weird.

Tim Burton would have never left such an error besides in order to get something backwards you have to actually flip the film over when editing!
