  • my ears are happy they're attached to me right now and not some twilight soundtrack loving teenager...

it's national ear appreciation day....and i love them right now.

  • Untrue. He only fills in for live shows. JPJ played all of the extra instruments in the studio, including slide guitar.

  • Dang. Holy shit.

  • great album

  • This song is TRIPPY!

  • i can't find 11 on my stero for these outstanding tunes.WHERE are you NIGEL TUFFNEL

  • Josh Homme, Dave Grohl, John Paul Jones.....may I ask for more..??? They rule

  • his voice sounds like marilyn manson

  • this song is amazing. i love everyones work on it. awesome band!

  • Beautiful intro. No doubt the work of JPJ.

  • None better in the world!

  • You're kinda wrong. I saw them live and Grohl was there, Tom wasnt.

  • Tom Morello is not in this band, guitar is played by Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age. Grohl on drums and John Paul Jones from Zeppelin on Bass and keys

  • Don't forget Alain Johannes from QOTSA and Eleven. He plays guitar and keys for TCV. People keep thinking this a 3 man band but it's not, JPJ and Alain play multiple instruments. JPJ plays the intro to this song on the keys, and Alain plays the keys on Bandoliers.

  • Live yes, but did he play on the album also??

I love Alain's work, please let me know.

  • @GawdMachine I guess theres no reason why he would record anything. They still had to record JPJ twice for bass and keyboard, so why Josh Homme would't record two guitars? (sorry for that english)

  • im 75% sure they recorded in alain johannes's studio. my best guess is that alain would be there recording too. but who knows. maybe he was just there to record them and josh offered him a live spot? i have no idea.

  • according to wikipedia Alain played on tracks 4, 8 and 9 on the album .. I didn't fact check em, but I wouldn't doubt it

  • Are you fucking kidding me? It's the exact opposite!

  • tom morello is currently in Street Sweeper Social Club w/ Boots Riley

  • SOUND 100% DARK SIDE OF QOTSA

  • One the greatest finales to an album I've ever heard.

  • Everyone except JPJ played for QOTSA so yeah they sound alike. Dave Grohl joined to record Songs for the Deaf, Alain Johannes recorded Lullabies to Paralyze, and Josh Homme started both bands.

This is one of the best on the album for me, along with Bandolier & No one loves me. Amazing songs, great lyrics.

  • john paul jones on the bass.

    wrong fail.

  • of course it sounds like QOTSA!

    it's the new band from

josh homme (QOTSA) on vocals, dave grohl (Foo Fighters, and other bands) drummer, and john paul jones (Led Zeppelin) on the guitar

  • I don't think it sounds LIKE QotSA.

    IT SOUNDS LIKE T.C.V <3

  • @BloodberryJuice Word.

  • hahaha "dave grohl(foo fighters, and other bands)"

  • hahaha

he could play if he wanted

    but quite wrong you are

  • perfect

  • the vocal sounds like qotsa (I wonder why) and some of the stuff sounds influenced by era vulgaris a little, and there is a slight lullabies sound to this song. but in general I think it sounds quite distinct. I like it.

  • ... of course it sounds like a QOTSA album when all you can hear on your shitty computer speakers is the singer from QOTSA singing. Through a good speaker system on full blast in sounds like them crooked vultures except the lead singer does a bowie impersonation on every other song

  • The QOTSA fans are stocking up on oxycontins for whenever then get get $12 dollars together to buy this CD. Maybe they can shoplift it or somebody can burn them a copy...

  • I think this is one of the best tunes on the album by far. Totally reminds me of a few QOTSA tracks. A bit more on the Epic side of tunes. A bit more complex. Just My opinion.

  • honestly i dave should just stick to drums with this band, i mean i know it's a side project and all, but he does a great job at the drums, just let him do what he always have done best. But this is a great band from what i've heard so far. So do u think chris shiflet will make another jackson united cd?, or nate will do another sunny day realestate cd?, or taylor do his band?

  • A great ending track to a fantastic album.

This album is definitely the best i have heard of the new generation of music since Toxicity.

    Can't wait till Nov 17th!!!

  • go listen to "wheels" then, you'd love that.

  • Hahahahahahahaha... To each his own, I guess.

  • you can have them , just keep them quiet .

  • Sounds like the earlier live versions of Song for the Deaf. In a really good way.

  • The editted Jho's voice in the studio. Added a little dirt to it. That's why everyone thinks Mark is around.

  • @shimpanzo They didn't edit his voice. He just sang lower.

  • Maybe if they put out another album, Dave will sing a little, too. Both are great vocalists (much better than I could ever do).

  • well... I suppose thats right... ;-)

  • Do I hear Mark Lanegan in this song, that dude has such a smokey voice. Great singer

  • It's really sweet that you kids are so precious over Josh Homme, yeah, he is one of the greatest musicians of our generation, but lets face it, it's JPJ's band just like Zeppelin was! He's the real genius!

  • No disrespect to JPJ but I hear both of their influences very strongly and it is a wonderful sound. I would go on and say JPJ and Homme bring the best out of those surrounding them and in this case they amplified the awesomeness of each other.

  • This is one of the best songs on the album in my opinion. I love Josh Homme and the rest are also great musicians! I'm really excited about where this is going!

  • so awesome, I love this album...

  • To be honest, I was a little worried about Homme starting another side project. After listening to this album, I am thoroughly ashamed of myself for thinking such blasphemous thoughts.

  • this is why we are in love with it..love love love

  • The album art looks so Communist. Haha, TCV, Them Communist Vultures.

  • lol things can look Communist? I understand what you meant, but it strikes me as funny.

  • We need to get Glenn Beck on the horn! (or should we?)

    I'm just asking questions...

  • this song could have easily been 10 minutes long

  • what I love about homme's stuff is that he seems to stuff about 3 songs into one. The ktsch little endings on this album are great as well - it's as if he wants to take the piss out of every song as soon as he's finished. Or, to put it another way, every song is thesis and antithesis

  • Josh singing in Mark way. amazing song.

  • Yeah, it's definitely Josh, not Mark

  • Definitely not Bowie on this track, but you can feel his influence in the vocal delivery. Awesome artists, all of them :)

  • the lower voice is definitely josh's

if you try and block out everything out apart from the lower voice then you quickly recognise it as being josh

  • How many albums can you listen to from begining to end nowadays? Well I'll add this one to my list thank you Josh Dave and John!

  • the verses kind of remind me of the blood is love off of lullabies to paralyze, not that thats bad at all.

this album is solid all around. although this is the 3rd time in the past 2 days i've heard it all the way around, im totally still buying it

  • what the fuck is going on with you? why all this comparison. listen

  • I have been listening and I am thoroughly enjoying it. The comparision is because, a lot of us are thinking the same thing, that some of the tracks feel and sound uncannily like, very late 70's period Bowie, it was one of the first things that struck me on a few tracks. It was nice to see others were also getting this...what is wrong with us making this assumption and sharing, we are not detracting from what we are hearing, but offering sensible discussion on a great album.

  • @tatty73 bowie wishes he could've done anything half this good fuck me - bowie...psss PLEASE bowie's a fucking hack next to this... sensible discussion - the sensible discussion is this is some of the greatest rock music to bless our ears since, Led Zeppelin, since the Pixies, since My Bloody Valentine, since Nirvana

    Bowie.... psssss... you clown

  • @iron, I bet Bowie doesn't!! Your views, sound narrowmined and childlike. Zep are my favourite band full stop, saw them at O2, was at MTV unplugged and have seen Page/PLant on numerous occassions, nothing comes close IMO, but Bowie has an oustanding body of work, which you can't knock, just because it ain't your thing.

Actually I don't why I'm bothering replying to you, you just sound like some idiot, that can only appreiate, what he likes and thinks everything else is crap.

  • @tatty73 whatever bowie's a poser

  • Comment removed

  • It doesn't rock as hard as Zep, the songs don't have the hooks as big as Nirvana or Foo Fighters, it's not as creative as Queens, but its still better than most of the crap out there.

  • what the fuck!!!! WRONG!!!!!!!! i dont no what you are listening to!!!!

  • It's my opinion, sorry you're so easily offended over something so inconsequential and unimportant.

  • This reminds me a lot of Lullabies To Paralyze, my fav album by QOTSA, but i like the obv elements that John seemed to bring to this as well, fav song on the album and all round master piece, Them crooked Vultures = The Trinity!

  • Just listened to all the songs of this new album... All I have to say right now is... WOW. Josh's songwriting is taking on yet another new dimention (no doupt helped by the presence of Jones...). I am so stoked! I really hope they come to do a gig in Oslo, and if they do, I'll sure as hell be there!!

  • I loove this song, but whenever i hear the "spinning in daffodils" part it reminds me of that Diasy does America tune..

    o.O

  • thats a nice drop and they got the finger on the pulse these guys! i hope they do more stuff as a unit! they obviously work well this shit is the stuff!!

  • i been delving in to the dubstep for my kicks! but this shit pulls me back to the old school! if you got good speakers this shits the bomb it truly is my new fave of the album!... i digg.. i digg

  • fuck yes this is the fooookin shit mofo!!!!

  • Is it just me or do these vocals sound very David Bowie?

  • Agreed... And with the #10 song being named Warsaw, I'm thinking someone was listening to a bit DB "Low" during the recording of this album...

  • I've also been thinking there are a fair few tracks on the album, that are similar to late 70's period Bowie, especially his vocals.

  • @tatty73 I completly agree ay, some of these songs do remind me of David bowie songs, i think Reptile was one that made me think that.. over all fucken good shit

  • high praise for anyone .

  • Just needs Jedward on backing vocals to make it perfect

  • oh come on,this is the immigrant song

riff with embellishment,i have no problem

    with that,its still beautiful.

    yos

  • nothing left to say than beautiful ..

  • @gabatron, Every single song on the ablum does that, i dont remember the last time i listened to a full CD top to bottom that's just mind blowing.

  • haha imagine homme on x-factor :)

  • Amazing!!!

  • My fav song on this album so far, just drives itself into my head and stays for a while.

  • 1:04 - 1:10

its typical josh homme singing and it reminds me of a qotsa song....dont know which one right now

  • in the fade?

  • @elborio

    ha! you got it :D

  • hey josh I think jim morrison is alive...call him!

  • im relaxed now!

  • great album!

  • fucking goosebump-inducing... this whole album is just masterful. TCV ftw.

  • Dammit after every song I just think, Josh just brings his sound, no matter where he goes, with him.

  • Sorry, gotta disagree ever so slightly with the praise here. This is a good album, but not a great one. The songs are just too samey for that accolade. Every song is enjoyable, all three members perform with aplomb, but every song also sounds extremely similar. 7.5-8/10 for me.

  • I understand what you're saying. The first time I listened to the album, all of the songs kind of clumped into a giant mush of music (a fantastic mush). But after listening religiously, I've found differences in the music.

  • @geordie2004 yeah it must suck being tone deaf

  • @irondaddymac: Yeah, and it must suck being an idiot so desperate for attention and validation of your own opinion that you have to make such immature comments. Dumbass.

  • I've got no words to describe how great that music and that album is, this is just like unbelievable, Thanks so much, Josh, Dave and John, you guys are a inspiration for me and for everyone!

  • Wow!!..This is one Fe*k of an Album!! 0_O

Thank you TCV..That was Actually Stunning!!..

To think,it was only about an hour ago I was barating the Fact that there hasnt' been hardly near Fook all Bands in the last 10+ Years that havent' released Whole Albums where Every Single Track has been Amazingly Awesome(Obviously theres' been about 1-3ish Albums of that caterogory(maybe))..But this Fecker Blew My Head Away ~_O

    Thank You .

I Shall be Buying This On CD.

    10 of them *

    .

    Yeah..Definately.

  • And the Album of the Year goes to....

  • last song on the album and i dont got much to say but FUCK YEAAAA!!!!!! sweet album!!!!

  • These guys are great live!

  • reinvigorated my faith in new music coming out nowadays!! epic!!

  • mark lanegan on back ups? :O :D

    awesome :P

  • Support good music...

  • Love it..

  • dark stuff! best accompanied by Guinness

  • I know ppl are hating the comparisons I disagree with almost all of them but that guitar riff outro is the closest thing to Zeppelin on the album, but I wouldn't compare the rest of the album to any of the members bands.

  • is that mark lanegan on back up vocals? It sounds like him.

  • @smarc57 its dave!

  • to everyone saying that the live version is better OF COURSE IT IS !!! Live music to me (and obviously many others) is always better. They give it 100% when they play it live and it olny gets better as they play more gigs together

  • Chriss Goss singing and it is The masters of Reality

  • Masters of the Led Age

  • correct-a-mundo !

  • This is just 100% quality. Proper music!

  • FUCK PATIENTS!

I love it. Thanks TVC! You made me believe in rock n' roll all over again; just when it was about to roll over and die, you guys kept it alive.

  • i agree that these guys are amazingly awesome and iv seen them personally but rock and roll will never die, impossible.

  • *patience

Sorry but if you were American i could forgive you basterdising the queens english. You're Canadian you might be boring but you should know better

  • bastardising*

    forgive you for*

    Queen's*

    You're Canadian,*

    boring, but*

At least you got "you're" right.

  • @e1camino wow learn to spell

  • Who plays the piano?

  • John Paul Jones plays it here. However, in the live version, he plays that part at the end of the song. I definitely like the live version more than this one just because of the ending.

  • Oke, thanks man!!

  • john paul jones

  • All in all great stuff. Just great music stuff.

  • quiero un tour por sudamerica!

  • wow great song love it!!!

  • Just finished listenin to the whole album, loved it, def gonna buy it and listen to it multiple times a day. I think a lot of the bad criticism I'm seeing this band get comes from people who were expecting a fusion of zeppelin, qotsa and nirvana. Instead what they got was an original band. Which personaly i prefer, but to each his own. But I urge everyone to give it a good unbiased listen before they give their 2 cents is all. Great rock music here, def the first thing worth listenin to in ages.

  • cant wait to se them live it gunna be sooooo mad!!!!!!!!!

  • I will add the song sequencing def plays a huge part in the enjoyment. Great job with that - the sound just builds to the end , each song plays off each other for sonic orgasism

  • Oldbluesguy - I agree with you totally. I never expected anything like this. This is genre changing. Homage to old riffs , rythyms, etc but yet so freaking fresh and new. We all hear some old tunes but man did they blow up. Mind and sound expanding - Ive seen them live 2x and they are the loudest Ive ever scene , albiet a small forum but, WOW. Robert must be kicking himself in the arse- This would never had the rawness needed with him. Sorry and I would bow to him. This is killer

  • ehh disappointed with all of this

they could have done a lot better

  • What?

  • Explain in musical terms how this could be better.

  • @Bleepbloopd

they all come from riff heavy bands, the ones on this album really didnt have balls

drummer seems to be holding back

bass work wasnt too bad though

dont think im a hater, i was really looking forward to this release and its just an opinion

  • Its all a bit slow and derivative. Nothing new and special. All a bit pedestrian. But it seems that people on these comments are pretty narrow minded. Lol, i wonder how long it takes till these critical posts get 100 million thumbs down just because some people have a differing opinion.

  • sure! ..opinion is ok, ...

but what faggot-stuff do you listen to when you dont like THIS... green day, huh?

just expect everything and nothing at the same time, ...this is the only way to notice that a musician is doing honest stuff.

    j. homme said once:

"The manic attempt to achieve perfection gives the beauty of imperfection"

    ...

    excuse my middle-rate english....

    i'm german

  • Your not listening to it loud enough...:)

  • I respect your opinion, but I sense that you're just annoyed that a band you don't like gets its due praise. Your post seems to eerily describe your self pretty well though. IMO

  • para mi gusto, que no es muy especializado; MUY parecido a QOEA....muy técnicas las canciones.. pero ninguna con "gancho", igual estos tipos son muuuuuuuuuuuuuuy populares....

entre esto y Probot.. lo segundo....

  • I hope you're not being serious. If you are, sucks for you. Keep being a sheep. Maybe if you're lucky you'll be king of the zoo.

  • Thank you, thank you, Vultures! *weeps with joy*

  • Thanks Vultures, this album is awesome!

  • I ate right in to all the hype (whether I liked it or not) and am as big a fan of these three artist and their respective bands as anyone. that being said, I am please to say that after hearing this album and it being "pretty good" compared to what I expected, the songs have totally grown on me and I now see the greatness I wanted in about 75% of this material, which blows so many other albums out of the water. given the members, it's no surprise that this is a perfect mix of cheeky and bad ass.

  • Also check out JPJ's Zooma and The Thunderthief albums.

  • What a great album. I'm 58 and have been around rock since it was born. This will go down as one of the special ones. I hope they have a long career together.

  • You seem to know your music then I take it! I love oldies but goodies myself.

  • gotta love the old school trippy parade that goes by at the very end

  • Awesome Song. Can't Wait for the Album

  • sounds like the Immigrant song played backwards !

  • also said that when i first heard it life

  • One of the first things homme does when he makes a new riff is play it backwards, just to see if it sounds cool.

  • The only track that doesn't grab my is #9. Otherwise I think this is gonna be huge.

  • Yeah, it's kinda weird and trippy

  • Oh cos that's a bad thing! haha

  • is dave grohl the drumer

  • yep.

  • This was a damn good listen :) I feel like I wanto to dance to the songs, but I can't since this is the first time I've heard them xD

    SO I SHALL LISTEN AGAIN

  • You'll have to see em live then eh

  • I am :) 13th December in Blackpool. Can't wait.

  • I've just listened to the whole album and all I can say is brilliantly written, performed, mixed and mastered (even on youtube). Them Crooked Vultures, I love you. :D

  • Gunman is my favorite to

  • I would just like to say that I think its pretty cool that a band would not only release their first single as a free download on i-tunes, but to be able to stream the entire album one week before release? Rock on Josh, Dave, and John (and Alain). Keep doing what you do. The album is incredible.

  • Gonna go see them in Seattle on the 21st I am hoping they are gonna be so loud my ears bleed ROCK ON

  • Love it, love them. Like most albums I have a favorite right away (gunman) and then the others start to haunt me in a good way of course. I've seen them live, I've pre ordered this album and can't wait to see them again!!

  • Another track in which I hear Bowie.......

    This is great!!!!!

  • that album was amazing.

  • I shit out my mouth and puked out my ass

  • You should probably see a doctor for that... Haha.

  • They will rock anyone's ears off live! Been there and witnessed it... AMAZING!

  • To that guy who wants to sell his tix because he doesn't like this album: Go ahead. Let somebody smarter than you have them. I hope you get loads of cash for them so you can go buy some Nickelback. I hear they
