Indeed. I had to do that, or else the film would be to long. Months after doing that i thought it would be better to cut the songs (and make a film of for instance 5:31 ), but it was a bit to late back then. ;)
there's no point in discussing someone's ability's. Every guitarist on that stage has his own special thing to bring to your ears. Be pleased with that, not who's "better"
Your a fucking joke...I love Satriani but there is no way he's even in the same stratosphere as Vai in terms of arranging, composition and theory...the man is a musical genius in all areas of music...not just a basic rock and blues shredder like Satch.
mate, satriani taught vai lol, im not gonna get in a massive argument about this cause everyone has there own views between the two but seriously, joe's songs are much more technically better than vai's in general and often sound alot better two (my own opinion), listen to g3 live performances with the two and for me there is a distinct difference between them, joe coming out on top
@IIHamishII maybe I misunderstand you but Satriani never studied at Berklee college of music. They did share the same music teacher at high school. And no, they're not equal in terms of musical knowledge; to transcribe Zappa's music and playing.. it takes a grasp on music Joe.. well..sounds blunt perhaps..doesn't have. Don't get me wrong though, he's got chops and growing up as a teenager I was infatuated with his music as well.. why choose between them since they're both awesome players :-D
My my my, he plays like this and looks like THAT..how much power can one man have! DAY-UMMMM

Does nobody want to pay homage to the truly inspirational Zappa here?
Come on dudes; you serve the apprenticeship with the The Mothers THEN you are good enough to go solo!
Vai spent time with the master.

hair metal produced such good guitarists, thrash produced such mediocre guitarists apart from marty friedman.

The choice between the two is purely personal preference, but they grew up together, soon becoming equals and searching for pieces of information.
They studied at the Berklee scool of music together...
They are equal in terms of musical knowledge.
