  • for the 9 people who don't like this "I KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE"

  • This was the best play EVER!

  • 6:20 they spelt mufasa wrong lol

  • No matter how many times i see, its still good

  • @TheDanKid56 My mother already scored tickets for Lion King for opening weekend in February in Rhode Island!

  • Does anyone have the whole broadway play on here?!

  • it was the best play for me and the best technical in the world

  • i might be seeing it in chicago this november! but can anyone tell me, is it the same show that came out in 1998, or different?

  • @RainbowCuppercake

It's pretty much the exact same show. There have been a few minor tweaks since the very first run of this show in 1998 (and also some changes that occur when hosting the show in a touring theater vs. on Broadway where the show is permanent) but if it ain't broke, don't fix it I guess ;) Hope you can see the show later this year, it truly is an experience of a lifetime.

  • If you watch the trailer for the lion king, muted, with a Black Eyed Peas song playing to it (any song, it doesn't really matter) it makes it sooo much better :)

  • I know this comment is probably going to get a lot of thumb down replies, but I personally don't like the whole idea of the masks being on TOP of someone's head... but I do love the idea of someone not being covered up with a whole suit of fur! LOL! THAT was an improvement!

  • I have a deep desire to go see this!

  • wooooooo. seeing this on wednesday (:

    can't wait!

  • i want to see this sooo badly....

  • Saw this 3 times already. Never gets old!

  • Can any1 tell me the guy's name at 7:37?

  • I'm not sure what his name is but he's the same one if you search for the lion king and rosie odonnel show. his name is there

  • That is Roger Wright, the longtime Simba lead in London. One of the very best to ever play that role, IMO.

  • thanxx lionking300 appreciate the help :)

  • I saw this in London when I went in '07. I normally fall asleep during plays but ZOMG! O.O

  • This was technically the first Broadway show I ever saw, even if it was the tour cast, and I loved it! I will always have a special place in my heart for The Lion King.

  • Me too, i saw it when my high school choir class went to L.A. nd we saw the tour cast. My first broadway show(tour) i will never forget seeing. Simply amazing =)

  • Absolutely AMAZING! This was my first official broadway play, and I enjoyed every minute of it!!

  • I have seen it 2 times in Los Angeles. Unbelievable! It's THE best thing you will ever see! I was always fascinated by the masks and puppets. When my little brother heard the music and looked at pictures, He made masks out of paper and sang and danced on the couch. It is truly a phenomenon.

  • if you see it in person, youll be amazed!

  • i love julie taymore

she also directed Across the Universe

  • isn't it mufasa not mafasa?

  • I haven't seen the show, but I can't tell you how much I want to. I cry just watcing these video's on youtube!!!! My school is taking us to New York next year, and we are going to Broadway, so I may be able to see it then!!!! YAYY!!! But I get chills just thinking about it. Not to mention crying. Broadyway is truly magical. There is no such thing as impossible when it comes to broadway. They can do anything. ;)

i saw it front row when it came to dallas.

one of the best experiences of my life!!!!

  • London, as well.

  • I got to go see this twice!

  • omg, i want to see it on broadway soo bad!! how good is it?

  • It's a totally awesome performance! Extremely touching and better than the animated Disney movie. Definitely worth the ticket price, too. I saw this play a couple of months ago at Minskoff Theatre, NYC and cried. It's that emotional! I was the first person to jump up and clap for the standing ovation that night. The talented acting and dancing; the costumes; the props--and the music is what really did me in. This was the most beautiful performance I've ever seen. A must-see for sure!!!

  • go see it. don't question yourself about seeing it. don't think about not seeing it. It is amazing. a-m-a-z-i-n-g!

  • if you liston at the part 1 min 19 the london rafiki is singing

  • do u have to be black to be in the lion king?

  • Brilliant version of Hamlet.

  • they spelled mufasa MAFASA lol

  • I hate how he says the-ater.

  • I went there when it was in Seattle! IT WAS AWESOME!

  • That´s one of my greatest wish in my life; just once to be able to see it! Maybe this future summer, if I visit New York. Just the music alone can make my tears appear!

  • The actors/singers where great! they all had great singing voices!

  • the young nala in this video is meeeee. i was young nala for 10 months in the cheetah tour. :) this was when we were touring in seattle. i miss this so much! i like watching this... it makes me remember all the puppets and stuff. haaha :)

  • my fav puppet is the baby elephant

  • whoever played the cheetha in the hawaii production, was soooo awesome!!!

  • omg I love the cheetahs

  • omg I LOVE THIS SHOW!

  • At 6:03 into the video, when young Simba helps Mufasa get his headpiece on - is that a part of the show? I saw the show maybe 4 year ago but can't recall. Something about that really touched me for some reason :)

Seeing it a second time next week. Great show.

  • Yes it is, Simba puts the headpiece back on Mufasa just as the lights dim at the end of that scene. It's a very powerful moment of the play when Mufasa takes his mask off to talk to his son.

  • Ah yes, during He Lives in You. Taking off his mask or crown to talk to his son not as the King but as his father. That's one of the reason I loved the spectacle of the show - None of it was literal in anyway. There's just as much power in something as simple as removing his head piece as there is when that elephant storms the stage, or when Pride Rock spirals up. Thanks for the information!

  • in choir one year we did the song "shadowland" from this musical.

  • A little known fact "Lea Halalela" means "Holy Land" in Africa. Look at

the lyrics, it says it all. By the way, some people comment LOL.

What does it stand for? Anyone?

  • lol means laugh out loud.

  • The Lion King is basically Hamlet except no crazy Sister and everybody doesn't die.

  • How great to see Rufus again! He's the best Mufasa out there in my opinion! I LOVE this show so much!

  • I luv this movie

  • why does he say "emerald city?" you only use that with WICKED, duh! nah, just kidding, but yeah, where's the show presenting that he called it that.

  • In 1982 some political group in the city decided Seattle's nickname as the "Emerald City." I guess because of all the evergreen trees and natural beauty that we supposedly have here. I guess there could be worse city nicknames.

  • Tell me about it man, it's almost like a wizard of Oz name or some shit...roflmao.

  • The costumes are just amazing!

I'm going to see it on Nov. 6

    I'm So excited. =D

  • those costumes are amzing....i saw the show about three years ago and i loved it

  • Wow, this is an awesome video. I LOVED this production. Did you notice that when Rufus Bond, Jr. comes up, his character "Mufasa" is spelled "Mafasa"

  • SUCH A GREAT VIDEO! Thank you so much for posting, I want to watch as much TLKoB videos as I can because it's my very biggest dream to see it someday in New York City!

Also, at first I thought that the guy at 3:11 was Joey Gladstone (you know, from Full House)! XD

  • lol...

  • I saw the broadyway play in middle school. My family and I went to see in Canda. It tours all over. The dialogue tells the story in the movie but on broadway its the music all the way.

  • Hey Tim, did you notice they're talking about Brandon, but showing clips of Roger? lol

  • Yeah, I did notice that! It seemed like they just took a bunch of stock clips that I've seen in other documentaries and the TLK DVD and combined them with the stuff they did. I guess most people wouldn't know the difference!

  • i can't wait to see this play for the second time. this is my favorite movie and on of my FAAAAAV plays. The loin king play started on Minnesota!! GO MINNESOTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P

  • wow this looks really good!! The amount of work that went into this is absolutely amazing!

  • This is an amazing show! I was sooo lucky enough to see it live, and the costumes were really just so amazing! The singing and acting and dancing were too!!!

  • Nice, thanks for posting.

  • It was said that Jason Raize died because he killed himself Why did he do that?

  • Thank for all parts of this documetary!

  • God bless jason Raize for all he gaved us...

  • I have the original cast soundtrack from Broadway!

    I love this show!

  • you know rbfanatic, that Jason Raize in the broadway lil.simba...died???
