I got this album by chance while studying abroad in Rome and became a fan of his since. This is still probably my fave of his songs, though I think I like him better on alto than bass clarinet or flute.
Dolphy has been one of my favorites ever since I heard him as a child. He was an extremely talented musician who's untimely death in 1964, from an untreated diabetic coma, robbed us of one of the greatest and most prolific jazz masters.
I am absolutely astonished that I'm the first to comment here. This song has been a favorite of mine since I first heard it a couple of years ago. Considering this, I am forced to wonder what people do when searching for music on this site: have their tastes been manufactured by corporate America, to the extent that they are unable to know how to look for great music? People: think for yourselves and follow nobody; he who can be led can be misled! Forget the taste-makers; this is Kick-Ass!!!
Eric Dolphy died 30 years before my birth, yet i love his music so much!

Sucks that Dolphy died so early.
Well, maybe his mission on earth was completed.
Considering his music, this might actually be the case.

This really sounds like a take-off/parody of miles davis' quintet's version.
