  • if this is progressive trance , I am a POPE

  • Cubase + Reason

Many do not realize that you can eliminate Live from

the equation using only these two.

(you also don't need any mastering plugins for Cubase to sound Ultra good)

  • yeah... i have eliminated Live for producing, but using it for... well.... live... along with the APC40 controler... very cool... live good for audio stretching and that about it... no plugins work when re-wired...

At the moment, i dont even use reason no more... i am a big fan of the rex player, but RMX does a better, more in depth job... CHAOS anyone..???

  • Dear Jon Scon,

Sorry to say, but considering the sheer amount of VST's you're cramming into a single production esp. in relation to VintageWarmer , Ozone and similiar) your skills as a producer are appallingly bad.

You should be concentrating more on layering / eq'ing sounds carefully rather than throwing in nearly every VST you have, and expect them to sound decent together.

Less is more, most of the time.

But then again, I'm just an amateur, so what do I know?

  • sure, exactly, comment appreciated... READ... "working on" which means work in progress... did u go to my space to hear finished tracks or just voicing your iggnorant opinions to the world Mr "Amateur".???

i use vintage warmer as much as i like to bring the 'digitalness' down a tad.

there is one ozone on the master bus... 4-band compression... mild saturation, again to warm up things, not EQ...

this is only my essential plugins, i have another 100 or so not installed as they are superfluous...

  • if i had 20 Universal Audio LA-2A vintage compressors, they would be on every track!!! my Vintage warmer does a similar job...

so, lets go to your page and see what u done... ahhhh... nothing... not even uploaded a video... DUMBASS...!!!! get a life instead of living in a virtual world of social networking sites and slagging off others creativity... BOOOO-YA BEEEE-YATCH!!!! (",)

  • djclubberlang, are you using just a macbook pro for all of this?! there's no way you can be running all those apps at once... I'm using a santa rose model and i can barely run a few vst all at once with logic studio.... i'm also using 4gb of ram

  • yes ways....!!! u see the stutter every time i mess with the windows... OSX10.4 macbook pro, intel, 2.3, 4gb ram.... ram is the key.... also got logic set up real nice and only a little from reason and live.... (",)

  • you can make alot of nicer tracks with reason than this one.

    ps: nice Apple!

  • yes... i am sure i can...

    what about you...???

    see my space jon sheky

    asshole!!!!!

    (",)

p.s. what u done for me lately???

  • love the layout, I just bought logic 8, can u please tell me where Id go to get add on's u have..or dance/trance synth pack so i can use some nice beats that dont come with the pack, plz :) :o love the vid :o

  • you are running all that on a macbook pro ?can you tell me the specs of your mac?i wanna buy a mac for music production but i cant choose between imac and macbook pro.i need portability and cpu power

  • GO MAC BOOK PRO..!!! JUST DO IT...!!!

Mine is almost 3 years old... but still a monster... one of the first intels... 2.3Ghz Intel, 4GB 667 Mhz Ram (only uses 3 i think though due to apple being silly on this model...)

u wont regret it. the new 17" looks BEAUTIFUL...!!!

  • what about the 5400rpm HD?i am really curious about .should i choose the 7200 rpm model ?

  • 100% you didn't pay for any of that software.

  • 100% i worked for turnkey in SA, agents for steinberg, korg, peavey, props, arturia and more... bought RMX and most of my shit i wasn't given to test and demo out to clients on my laptop... best job ever dude... i was paid to read my favourite mags that i would buy anyways... i also stocked up o n half price drum kit and zildjian cymbals.. OK.. since i am now on a mac... some stuff is 'borrowed' but i like to run legit so logic is my mac daddy mothership mopho!!!

    want some....???

    (",)

    100%

  • Well sorry I've got a stupid question :P

Which OS are you using ? Vista, modified XP, Mac OSX , Ubuntu ?

Man you can handle so many windows together :P I'm already lost with one Virtual DJ window :D Hahaha

The mix is ok, though I don't like pure Techno like this.

PS: What's your trip with the fingers moving ? Were stone and though you had touchscreen or what ? :P

  • well well....

    1) ummm, logic....made by umm... APPLE, well... so only on mac dude...!! osx tiger

    2) Apple Logic very user configurable and My MacBook Pro just the Mutts Nutts!!!

    3) Not TECHNO... trance, progressive... do some research into genres and compare stuff from 'Stay up forever' or other techno labels to some under ground trance, hard dance and hard house.... all very different....

  • 4) The fingers thing is me enjoying myself... the video is not for u, it is just me messing about dude and if u cant see that, well, no wonder u are lost in a simple program like Virtual DJ, maybe music is not for u.

Appreciate your opinion, but before u judge the obviously bad camera sound ( do u really think i am about to give one of my track away to the You Tube and the public domain, it becomes theirs ya know)

jonsheky on my spacce, check out my proper mixes and trax..see top right.

    PEACE

  • P.S.

u ever been to a real rave or squat party....

u ever danced or held a glow stick in your hands...

    u ever express yourself...

try it... u may enjoy your self in this measly little life we live on this mortal coil... (well maybe leave the glowsticks at home)

    1) Sorry I never used the Forbidden Fruit :) I thought it was it, but just wanted confirmation :)

2)&3) Well let's say I don't like trance. Not my style of music. Came from an electro clip to your clip by a link.

    4) About the fingers, it was some humour...

And I only tried Virtual DJ a few times... But I wouldn't need that much programs, cause my music style doesn't need that much :)

And I did not know you were so famous, you wouldn't realease one track on Youtube ^^

  • PS: I have been on a few real or fake raves.

I didn't enjoy, cause moving the same way during 24hours with all same moving people didn't please me.

I consider there are other musics, where you can express yourself much better, and in a larger sense.

    Life ain't that measly :)

I came here by curiosity & got welcomed by too much seriousness, nearly arrogance.

No offence Goodbye & good continuation :)

PS2: Only stick I hold is the smokin' one ;)

  • no mame wei

  • ok.....

  • i've ben messing around with abelton and i've been working in logic for years. i've been wondering though, what's the use of slaving live! to logic? if you're building a predetermined sequence in logic, what use does ableton have? and if you want to freely loop and improvise over pre-composed musical phrases, it would seem logic would be a burden. what's you're philosophy here?

  • fair enough... Live and Reason are really quick to audition new things and sounds, experiment with different loops maybe, all in time. rex player in reason for .rex and live for .wavs loops and hits. All programs aim to achieve the same objective.. i.e. make music, but they each offer something special. Live often is a sketch-pad type thing as plug-ins do not work in re-wire... so really just to loop a kick loop or percusive bits, through Logic fx and routing. same with Rez. ...

  • LOGIC is the mac daddy of all sequencers, best native plug-ins and good song arrange views, a 'proper' mixer, great editing features and most of all...PRO sound...!! Logic takes a little time to warp audio in sync, unless apple loops or .rex, so i normally bounce down out of Live and Rez into stems, to mix with in Logic for final Mixdown. (",)

  • that is just great stuff man, keep it up. im one of those "beginners with ableton", but i use it for percussive loops for drumming and a bit of backing midi tracks. anyways, good stuff and thanks.

  • thanks... i am working on some new stuff... will upload soon as... ableton a great program, its just,i like the depth of logic, and the way it looks... and feels... and there is a proper mixer... ableton is good for getting shit done quickly, experimenting and trying out stuff you wouldn't normally do... all good dude... (",)

  • good job mate keep up the grt work, are you on facebook to keep me informed of any new stuff, and also starting to learn about this great program, so need all the help i CAN GET !

  • hook up with me here or on my space

jonsheky... look up top right... info...

    sweet (",)

  • yes man... all plug-ins run with Logic... Live and Reason are re-wired... the only negative is that plug-ins do not work in Live when in re-wire, but u can send out as many channels as u need from Live and Reason and process individual bits with 3rd party bits of wonder... good luck to ya (",)

  • You got some serious software running.

One thing I'd recomend and I think it's a largely overlooked aspect. Get out there and take some basic "BASIC" music theory. I mean learn what a chord is and key signature. Beats and bars are easy, but it's pretty evident you don't totally understand keys and chords. Unless everything is actually in key but the recording is THAT bad. Anyways, I'm sure you can figure key signature and chords out pretty quick.

  • Sure Mr know it all. Firstly track is in C.Most dance music is. Makes sense when DJing. Sounds fine to me. Notice repetitive chord progression. Not off key.Check your ears. I have been playing guitar for 15 years so have a very good idea about chords, notes, scales and keys. Do u know mixolydian?? probably not as it seems u use ableton,a program for beginers as it does everything for u.

Track sound from camera,so not 100%... check info on top right for details of address for Mp3 mixes and others.

  • awesome track man!

  • thanks dude... more to come as soon as camera back from repair... (",)

  • do you have a powerbook ?!

  • yes man... announcement about new 17" imminent, and looking forward to the upgrade...!!! (",)

  • whats that giant vst keyboard called, looks great!

    Nice sound too!

  • the big brown one playing the pad...??

ARTURIA CS-80... one of me favourites,, its a YAMAHA synth emulation that is spot on. it was made from 77-early 80's. it is the CLASSIC BLADE RUNNER type swell pads... YUMMY i tell YA!! they also do a moog one... all very good. (",)

  • thanks, i'll have to get one of those!

  • hey ! love what you are doing... nice very nice... i was wondering if you could share some basic track to have something to start with... or a list of extras that i should have for logic.. .what would you recomend ? ... thanks in advance :)

    from chile

  • Thanks dude,

i could upload a basic track to media share, but we would have to use native logic plug-ins to get started to make sure we have the same setup. They are pretty much enough to get going... maybe add a few 3rd party synths or a sampler or romplers, but not necessary ... send me a mail to discuss further..

  • nice track!

Do you know if you can use Logic Studio 8 using 2 screen monitors? I record using 2 screens is there an extended screen mode? I like to see my track on the left screen and monitor my eq's or plugins on the right screen..

Im trying to find out before i purchase it. I hate recording on one screen everything stackd on each other.

    Thnx,hope u can help.

stay easy keep popping up some vids. I produce mostly breaks and progressive house.

    culture

  • yes dude... two monitor set up easy... duplicate or screen extension all good... left or right.. all down to you on a mac...

    well worth the investment...

logic is so smooth and easy on the eye.

i was logic 5.5 on pc until bought out by apple, then could not afford mac so switched to CubaseSX, so really know the apps and differences... Glad to be back opperating with logic.. LOGIC is the SUPER MAC DADDY!!!
