@huntz2471 I bought my coins from the local store. However you should be able to buy them from eBay or other web sites too. Just check the gold market price / gold amount before you buy. You should not pay too much or too cheap. If you pay too cheap, you may end up with a handful of wrong metal.

Very nice collection. There is a lot of history in them. I especially like the St. Gauden's double eagle. The "eagle" used to be a monetary unit in the US. It was exactly 10 dollars. So, double eagle was naturally 20 dollars.

The "Liberty head" design of that coin sucks, doesn't it? Fortunately a real artist made the final design of the coin (1907 - 1933).

@Dualspec Dont forget about smaller denominations of gold like 10 gram or even 5 gram bars... When the worlds economies fail and gold prices go through the roof, the smaller peices will be easier to trade for things like food and clothing.

How do you know they're real? Very easy to forge using tungsten core.

thats why you gotta stress test the seller. switch one of theirs with a tungston core when you are buying in person and say you need to crack one open to be sure, if its real then your paying for it anyway. then break open the core coin before the seller can see that its not his and see his reaction. but dont steal the hidden coin unless hes trying to sell you fakes
