Usually I am not one to shamelessly self-promote because quite frankly I haven't had anything to promote but recently I have made a short film with a bunch of my friends at the end of my senior year of highschool and I eventually aspire to be a filmmaker like David Lynch and he is one of my idols/obsessions. So being that people on here are obvious connoisseurs of the finest art, cinema, I hope to find my voice and follow my dream so please checkout my channel and comment on my film thank you.
You know, the first time I encountered " the art" of David Lynch, I was deeply disturbed - psychologically and emotionally I felt naked. Now I watch this video, and I think this is probably one of the most beautiful things ever uploaded on the internet. I still find it at times disturbing; but my God is it beautiful. There's no filmmaker like David Lynch, and there never will be. Few filmmakers in recorded history, are as distinctive, unique and original like David Lynch.
I made a short film inspired by David Lynch named Tablets, it's on my channel and I'd be happy if any of you could check it out. Getting people to see these things is difficult. haha, th
At 6:03 my head exploded. This is some of the scariest/strangest/most brilliant stuff I've ever seen. I gotta' take a reality break and smoke. Though I am very intrigued and thus I continue to research this fine fellow known as David Lynch.
@Unlabeledpyro If you've never seen any of his movies I recommend watching Mulholland Drive first, his movies are usually either hit or miss with me, but I think that movie is a great combination of actual story with "WTF"ness
Hey! I don't know if people count this as spam or anything because I hate that too, but I've started filmmaking and Lynch has defiantly inspired and influenced my work. I'd love it if you could check it out and perhaps comment on it saying what you thought. Thanks a lot! ;)
Anyone know of any future movies he's working on? He's getting up there in age and I need more Lynch. He inspires me like no other artist. There will never be another Lynch, only carbon copies.
weird directors such as David Lynch, Stanley Kubrick, John Waters, and those type of people tend to be the greatest directors in hollywood history idk why :D
Fantastically put together, a marvellous tribute to David Lynch, I was hypnotised throughout.
I'm not American but if I was i would be so proud of this man. Such artistic talent and originality is the real America and the best of it when it isn't being suffocated by the mindless, greedy, corporate, boring Western establishment that is infecting and suffocating us all
What I love most about your videos about a director's work like this one is; you get me so much in the mood for them! Now after viewing The Art of David Lynch, I want to rewatch all of his films. It's awesome to think that if I want to get in the mood for a certain director, I should just watch your montage videos.
Good tribute to David Lynch, although I wish you started with one of his more fast-paced songs. I recently began a 5-month-long series of article on my blog analyzing the films of David Lynch. You can check it out by searching "35 Years of David Lynch"
Are you making a movie soon? I enjoy your videos a lot. Great work. If you see me driving around LA wearing my spaceman costume driving your Add car, selling my movies, know I'm keeping busy, until I get the chance to audition for you and others. If you would like to see my work google my name DENNIS WOODRUFF. Telephone number for auditions 323 848 7164, and 323 309 1282. I'm ready to work when the phone rings!
Regardless if you're fond of David Lynch's work or not (I still have mixed feelings regarding the work I've seen of his - with the lone exception of "The Elephant Man"; but films like "Blue Velvet" and "Mulholland Drive"), this is by far one of the most well-structured, substancially crafted videos on Youtube. Which I think in the most definite sense captured the beautiful atmosphere, yet eccentric, odd and uncomforting essence that defines David Lynch as a filmmaker.
I was thinking that David Lynch and Neil Gaiman should team up and make a Sandman movie. With Gaiman writing and Lynch directing, that would be an amazing film.
I need help as an independent filmmaker, if anyone would care to help in a small way please search "Brozeiy's activist flick" If you think that it's hard to make independent films; you're simply getting your information from the wrong sources.
it almost seems impossible to capture the genius of David Lynch in 9 minutes, but this truly gets the job done, incredibly orchestrated tribute, thumbs up
Have seen two David Lynch pictures: "Blue Velvet" and "Mulholland Drive" both rank amongst the most bizarre, odd, eccentrically uncomforting yet atmospherically captivating films I've seen. I can't judge those films because I don't know what to think of them. What essentially stopped me from turning them off was their narrative and dark atmosphere.
This is a brilliant tribute to an underappreciated master of artistic cinema. It reminds me of the kind of thing one only sees during awards shows when someone is honored by a "lifetime achievment award." Lynch certainly deserves to be recognized and this IS a great tribute to his genius. Bravo.
@AgesFlow I don't know if you can say he's under-appreciated, really, He's won academy awards, he has a huge following, he has high-rated movies. For a mainstream filmmaker that's an achievement, but for a surreal/avant-garde filmmaker that's HUGE.
@Hirfel He hasn't won any Academy Awards. I believe, as Director, he's been nominated for Elephant Man, Blue Velvet, and Mulholland Dr., as well as some other nominations that came with Elephant Man. He's won the Cannes top prize, but nothing in terms of Oscars, which is unfortunate.
@cjreyn1 Right, I meant academy award nominations, not wins. But I didn't know about the Cannes awards, that's even bigger than getting an Oscar. Still, it's a stretch to call him under appreciated.
My English/Film Academy teacher has cited David Lynch to be one of his primary influences in cinema. Is simply a BIG fan of Lynch's work. I have seen your work barringer82, and this is probably the most uncomforting, eccentric video I have ever seen in my LIFE. : /
Things that people don't understand can mean anything they want it to. That's why people hate on unusual things, cause it frustrates them that can't define it. ;) True.
