Karoon42, I am not so clear about your question. Our constition of 1906 was modeled on the belgians. It was not written by the Pahlavis & it was not perfect but it did give a lot of power to the king like appointing or dismissing Primeministers, heads of the army etc. 1 bad thing was that the Shah was the defender of Shia Islam. We needed to change many things in constitution but we were not ready for that yet. But we did not desrve the reactionary revolution packaged for us by Carter or Brits.

I belive H.I.M belived in islam in young ages later he changed his mind and was more close to Zartosht the true persian religion. I belive it was 1977 new years eve (not norooz) the shah drank wine with american president carter. Same day it was ashura taso in Iran. Karoon42, I am not so clear about your question. Our constition of 1906 was modeled on the belgians. It was not written by the Pahlavis & it was not perfect but it did give a lot of power to the king like appointing or dismissing Primeministers, heads of the army etc. 1 bad thing was that the Shah was the defender of Shia Islam. We needed to change many things in constitution but we were not ready for that yet. But we did not desrve the reactionary revolution packaged for us by Carter or Brits.
