I think the video is excellently produced and shows the intended scheme for what it is, a useful take-up of land and sea side that puts some new emphasis into Gibraltar's development.

The scheme of things is that projects of this type, not only provide thousands of jobs in construction but also attract spin-off jobs which allow you to earn more, get a better job and, maybe, one day you will be able to afford these high-priced apartments.

This project is just right for Gibraltar. The commerce, jobs, spin-offs and enhancement of the eastside environment is what Gibraltar needs.

This is what Gib needs to prosper. Any Gibraltarian saying the opposite is simply small-minded. It's what they used to say about Ocean Village where many Gibraltarians have moved into - improving their lives. We should all aspire to living there one day rather than a Government estate. As for the youth, no they do not cause problems everywhere they go. Its thanks to our governement that the youth do not have anywhere to go and have no leisure activities to keep them busy. Governemtn should spend more money on schools and books than they do on luxary appartments knowing fully well no normal person from gibraltar can bloody afford.
Anyone from gibraltar knows fully well how many problems a project like this will cause. For example the traffic.
As for youth having underaged sex, smoking and drinking, if you check english statistics you will find that underaged sex and drugs is a major issue. Not only in england but also in spain. Gibraltar is nothing compared to places like the UK. I am sure the day you have kids or if you already have them, they have tried drugs at least once in their lives and im pretty sure theyve also had underaged sex.

Hola Peyim71 esto es algo que se ha hecho en Gibraltar durante los últimos 60 años. Hay dos maneras de tomar tierra del mar. La manera tradicional es, como en este caso, arrojar escombro y otros desperdicios de las obras como rocas, cemento, etc al mar. Esto significa una espera mínima de 10 años antes de poder edificar sobre ella ya que hay que darle tiempo a que se estabilice el terreno.
Todas las industrias de las que hablas en Andalucía y el resto de España son gracias a la caridad de la Unión Europea que os sacaron del la prehistoria a ser un país mas desarrollado, pero aun tercermundista. Me hace gracia.que aprenda a hablar dice el gracioso! Si quieres podemos corresponder en Ingles y haber entonces quien va a tener que aprender a hablar y escribir!
No se si es cierto el proyecto este que sale en el video, pero mi pregunta es, no sera algo peligroso edificar un proyecto de esta magnitud en terrenos del mar?, en su dia Jesus Gil queria edificar una isla en Marbella y no se lo permitieron.
La segunda es un modo más moderno que se basa en tomar arena del fondo del mar y verterla sobre un cierto espacio en el mar, este es el método que se ha utilizado recientemente para agrandar el puerto de Algeciras. Este método es más rápido, más costoso, pero se puede edificar sobre ella de inmediato, solo hay que esperar unos días que se filtre el agua y se seque la arena.
Si tenemos viviendas en Sotogrande, pero nuestra casa está en Gibraltar! Nosotros somos los que tenemos las perras y mantenemos al Campo, y aun insisto que de trabajar en España nada, aquí se gana mucho más que allí! Damos trabajo a más de 7,000 españoles y somos los que gastamos las perras en el campo en compras, restaurantes, viviendas, inversiones etc! Aprende y cuando te veas en el paro (España tiene el índice más alto de europa) puedes venir aquí a trabajar y a ganar mas dinero!

Too many English Pubs attracting lager louts and serving cheep bfasts.Most Gibraltarians only look after De Puerta Hacia Dentro, no care for the Environment, Europa Point is a Dump, the upper rock is another one, luck of management and charging a fortune shall i go on cos the list is endless. The place lucks sophistication.
Gibraltarians feel British, Gibraltarians and Mediterranean, The Three. Its a melting pot of cultures, from UK, Malta, Italy, Spanish, Jewish. Moroccan etc all mixed together and all getting along, that makes Gibraltar what it is. Its like a mini U.S in the mixtures of cultures fused togther. Its a unique place and an example of tolerance.
Though I have my doubts about this said project especially with the world financial crisis, but with respect to society in Gibraltar, you guys don't think ahead how yr beautiful city will be like in 20 or 30 years. In Gibraltar their is a massive problem with parking and traffic and why! cos 30/40 yrs ago yr government at the time never invested in the future by building huge underground parking especially, in many or yr council estates, and other areas, and creating open green spaces.
Ocean Village is enough - we don't need this as well. The last phase at Ocean Village is very slow to sell so how on earth they expect to sell all these apartments is anyones guess. Gib needs to expand over time but needs space to breath for the next few years
This is Eastside Gibraltar, I don't think the issue will be workers but more an issue with patrons, where will the people come from to fill the bars restaurants etc. just look around Casemates and Ocean Village during the week and there isn't enough people to keep the existing businesses now never mind if they go ahead and build this project.
@GibLady I hope they dont turn it into another Dubia where only posh people live, and remember to make space/parks/play area for the children. The new block i live is to to expensive for families. , The public open air terrace and gardens are locked and i never see anybody in them. There are a couple of families and their children have to play in the corridors!

The sooner the better.
Let's be a little more positive and not so negative about new schemes.

No es lógica una colonia británica en España. No son legales las prácticas "económicas" que desarrolla. The scheme of things is that projects of this type, not only provide thousands of jobs in construction but also attract spin-off jobs which allow you to earn more, get a better job and, maybe, one day you will be able to afford these high-priced apartments.
No one is going to "give" you anything in life. You have to earn it. Try to be more positive and look to learn something useful for the community and yourself.
Projects like this help everyone in the end.

I'm only 19, I think I qualify just a little bit to say what youth are like. Maybe not a majority, but I spent the transistional ages of my life in Gibraltar, and more girls in my year got pregnant in one year; than girls put together in my entire school in scotland in one year. And my school in scotland isn't a particularly nice one.
I don't live there anymore, not a major issue for me, but I love that country, and would love to see it develop to its full potential.

Pathetic. Gibraltar is Gibraltarian. Spain is Spain and we should not be employing the lgc workmanship or buying the cheap materials that always fail.
If this project is carried-out by a Spanish contractor, Gibraltar will be putting it right for the next 50 years.
Spain has over 8,000 workers daily into Gibraltar. La Linea is bankrupt, like the rest of Spain
Projects like this do not deserve to have anything to do with Spain and we should ensure that quality prevails.

This project is just right for Gibraltar. The commerce, jobs, spin-offs and enhancement of the eastside environment is what Gibraltar needs.
However, a word of warning. If you get a Spanish contractor to build it, expect to be looking after the poor workmanship for the next 50 years.
I will accept criticism from the Spanish only when their own country enters the fourth world and sensible working practices. Who pays tax in Spain? No one! they are either out of work or cheating.

Lets see when gibraltar stops building house for toursts and starts developing for the residents. There sholdbe more refurbishment and also more stuff for teenagers to do. Everything in gibis either 16 under or 18 over. Then they complain that kids are always vandalising and stuff. Im also positive that the swimming lagoon will be private and not allow any1 inside. This will create mny prblems with the youth and security. Another point is traffic. HELLO MORE RESDENTS, MORE CARS< MORE TRAFFIC!!!

And if there was no more mopeds in Gib, there would be a lot less traffic. I wouldnt be complaining if I were you, they're trying to beautify Gib...with good reason.
Oh, and youth in Gib causes nothing but problems in eery single place built for them. Underage sex, smoking and drinking - give them more places they'll ruin more places.

As for the youth, no they do not cause problems everywhere they go. Its thanks to our governement that the youth do not have anywhere to go and have no leisure activities to keep them busy. Governemtn should spend more money on schools and books than they do on luxary appartments knowing fully well no normal person from gibraltar can bloody afford.
Anyone from gibraltar knows fully well how many problems a project like this will cause. For example the traffic.

As for youth having underaged sex, smoking and drinking, if you check english statistics you will find that underaged sex and drugs is a major issue. Not only in england but also in spain. Gibraltar is nothing compared to places like the UK. I am sure the day you have kids or if you already have them, they have tried drugs at least once in their lives and im pretty sure theyve also had underaged sex.

Es difícil explicar como un sitio tan pequeño como nosotros podamos aportar tanto a la economía española, no solo a traves de mas de 7,000 trabajadores, mientras que España no puede dar trabajo a sus propios ciudadanos y mientras nos describen a nosotros como los diabólicos!

Hola Peyim71 esto es algo que se ha hecho en Gibraltar durante los últimos 60 años. Hay dos maneras de tomar tierra del mar. La manera tradicional es, como en este caso, arrojar escombro y otros desperdicios de las obras como rocas, cemento, etc al mar. Esto significa una espera mínima de 10 años antes de poder edificar sobre ella ya que hay que darle tiempo a que se estabilice el terreno.

No se si es cierto el proyecto este que sale en el video, pero mi pregunta es, no sera algo peligroso edificar un proyecto de esta magnitud en terrenos del mar?, en su dia Jesus Gil queria edificar una isla en Marbella y no se lo permitieron.

La segunda es un modo más moderno que se basa en tomar arena del fondo del mar y verterla sobre un cierto espacio en el mar, este es el método que se ha utilizado recientemente para agrandar el puerto de Algeciras. Este método es más rápido, más costoso, pero se puede edificar sobre ella de inmediato, solo hay que esperar unos días que se filtre el agua y se seque la arena.

Si tenemos viviendas en Sotogrande, pero nuestra casa está en Gibraltar! Nosotros somos los que tenemos las perras y mantenemos al Campo, y aun insisto que de trabajar en España nada, aquí se gana mucho más que allí! Damos trabajo a más de 7,000 españoles y somos los que gastamos las perras en el campo en compras, restaurantes, viviendas, inversiones etc! Aprende y cuando te veas en el paro (España tiene el índice más alto de europa) puedes venir aquí a trabajar y a ganar mas dinero!

Y solo tenéis que ir por sotogrande o la Duquesa para ver a vuestros compatriotas currando y viviendo en España. Por que os recuerdo que en Gibraltar no se cabe y la economía de Andalucía en ningún momento vive de Gibraltar, os recuerdo en España existen Industrias, Fabricas, Campos, ...y muchas cosas mas que no entran en Gibraltar

CMASTIC de que grifo hablas? El único grifo que hay aquí es Gibraltar que le da de comer a el campo de Gibraltar y a la comarca! El grifo lo hicimos nosotros y lo controlamos nosotros jilipollas! Y de que no hay sitio para nosotros.eso no importa, no ves que el video adjunto es sobre nosotros tomando tierra del mar! Quien son los llanitos que trabajan en España, no conozco a ninguno? Os recuerdo que si la frontera estubiese cerrada haber donde carajo os ibais a meter tanto coche y tanto llanito por que en la Roca ya no se entra. Y por si no lo sabes o te fallan las matematicas son mas los llanitos que trabajan o viven de ESPAÑA que los españoles que trabajan en GIBRALTAR. This seems like a really good thing for Gibraltar which should help the local economy there. I just jope that it doesn't come at the expense of housing for the growing population. How much of this will be housing, and thus how would it boost Gibs population?

Cuando los combienen a ustdes tenemos aguas teritoriales y cuando no, no la tenemos, soys unos falsos. El temporal del anos pasado, tambien afecta, ya que aveis reclamado terano al mar, en el puerto de Algeciras y costa de la refineria. Aaa y se me olvidaba, deberia de defender y agradecer a Gibraltar por dar de comer a 5000 de vuestros ciudadanos y si este proyecto se lleva a cabo otros 5000 mas. Gibraltar en el pasado siempre a dado de comer a su Campo y lo seguira haciendo siempre.

.... .. take a good walk around at wkends. lots of yr teenagers hanging around at petrol stations throwing their takeout rapers on the floor, instead of the the rubbish bins. Too many English Pubs attracting lager louts and serving cheep bfasts.Most Gibraltarians only look after De Puerta Hacia Dentro, no care for the Environment, Europa Point is a Dump, the upper rock is another one, luck of management and charging a fortune shall i go on cos the list is endless. The place lucks sophistication.

Gibraltarians feel British, Gibraltarians and Mediterranean, The Three. Its a melting pot of cultures, from UK, Malta, Italy, Spanish, Jewish. Moroccan etc all mixed together and all getting along, that makes Gibraltar what it is. Its like a mini U.S in the mixtures of cultures fused togther. Its a unique place and an example of tolerance.

Though I have my doubts about this said project especially with the world financial crisis, but with respect to society in Gibraltar, you guys don't think ahead how yr beautiful city will be like in 20 or 30 years. In Gibraltar their is a massive problem with parking and traffic and why! cos 30/40 yrs ago yr government at the time never invested in the future by building huge underground parking especially, in many or yr council estates, and other areas, and creating open green spaces.

Ocean Village is enough - we don't need this as well. The last phase at Ocean Village is very slow to sell so how on earth they expect to sell all these apartments is anyones guess. Gib needs to expand over time but needs space to breath for the next few years

If it ever happens, at least it will be an improvement to the scruffy mess that the Eastside currently is.

This is Eastside Gibraltar, I don't think the issue will be workers but more an issue with patrons, where will the people come from to fill the bars restaurants etc. just look around Casemates and Ocean Village during the week and there isn't enough people to keep the existing businesses now never mind if they go ahead and build this project.

@GibLady I hope they dont turn it into another Dubia where only posh people live, and remember to make space/parks/play area for the children. The new block i live is to to expensive for families. , The public open air terrace and gardens are locked and i never see anybody in them. There are a couple of families and their children have to play in the corridors!
