Can't believe people still talk about this junk of a plane. It was junk, you Russkie fags - and now they're all rusting away in the parking lots of convenience stores.
@beeroosterm Wow, someone's got issues against Soviet technology. This paved the way for the B-1 and other Supersonic bombers. It's a piece of history. That's like saying stop talking about WWII because it ended. Think about your words, dude.
@ScremoSkullz Not against Soviet technology in general. But the colossal amount of misunderstanding (and credulousness) on the part of the Tu supporters on this page and others pisses me off. The Tu was a well-documented piece of thievery of Concorde technology and may well have paved the way for the B-1 (junk) and the Soviet Tu-160 (much biggest/faster junk) but that doesn't make it a good plane. And don't call me dude.
@beeroosterm It's obvious it was copied from Concorde technology. However, without all these super-sonic bombers (What you refer to as, junk), super powers such as the United States or Russia, would still be using slow, vulnerable strategic bombers. And of course, the Tu-144 was a failure, however, all countries make mistakes and failures, and the Tu-144 is not a failure to look down upon, despite the fact that it went so fast that it disintegrated.
@ScremoSkullz Actually, the B-1 bomber was a very controversial plane that never should have been built - it was vulnerable before it ever flew. The Northrop YF-12 interceptor version of the SR-71 Blackbird) demonstrated a look-down shoot-down capability that rendered every other plane in the sky vulnerable to its AIM-47 missiles back in the mid-1960's. People were stunned at its performance - it was untouchable. Bet it would still be able to shoot down a B-1/Tu-160.
@ScremoSkullz Nope - not "copied". It simply is a result of form following function given the technology widely available at the time. That is why Buran looks like Shuttle (or vice versa).
@BDGMarketing Oh - and BTW, Concorde had no need for the canards - which the Russians added after the first few test flights, if I remember correctly. Easy enough to cheek out, right?
@spanish111japan Huh? Many of them flying... Where? You're living in cloud cuckoo land! There are NONE flying and haven't been for many, many years. D'oh.
No, the one which crashed, was overloaded by the pilots, so a wing snapped of.
But the Concorde is no fighter craft as well, it has also limits in it's maneuvers.
And in fact it is proven it is no design espionage, cause that plane was the first one in the air, braking the sound barrier and transported passengers 1 year before Concorde did!
It is in fact a genius design, because it only costs half of the Concorde's price, switching the reverse thrust with a parachute.
And it was in the air before Concorde and also broke the sound barrier before Concorde did...it even was the first SST, transporting passengers...but the soviet union suffered extreme problems, so their program only lasted a short time. But 16 planes were made, one is still in service as a laboratory, for the NATO and Russia.
But the TU-144 is cheaper to manufacture than Concorde and has more maximum speed, but less range. It's missing reverse thrust, but has a parachute instead.
@iJay842 The TU-144, toghether with the concorde are 2 planes that took many desing parts from the CB-70 Valkyrie, even if the form isn´t exactly the same. Only 2 test planes of the Valkyrie have ever being bulit, one that could reach Mach 1.42 but during another test flight the centrall wall of the intakes was " sucked" in the engines and irreparably damaged them. The second one could reach Mach 3, but was stopped at Mach 2.5 due to structural problems in the honeycomb on the wings, wich during
@iJay842 The flight at Mach 3 60 cm of the wing were stripped away. Also the second Valkyrie was destroyed during a flight in formation with other planes for a photographic service. an F-104 that flew too close to the Valkyrie got its left wing stuck in the Valkyrie´s right wing and flew over the Valkyrie destroying its vertical stabilizers and its " vertical wings " and causing it to crash.
@TheMsdos25 NO! it was based on the concorde if you want something that russians made that is similar to the xb-70 i would suggest you look at Sukhoi T-4 Sotka
They were first. Rushing in a catchup race using stolen designs Concordski did make some firsts. First to crash and it was sure good at doing that. First to be scrapped in 1983 unlike the beatiful Concorde that was built by brains not spies.
@Dookiedolf Brad ass. Tu-144 aircraft as beautiful. History tells a different story of espionage is constantly stealing the West or the Soviet outbids, and now the Russian development. Tu-144 was unprofitable for one simple reason-in the USSR, he does not pay off because of the lack of rich people, so after the first serious accident he was removed from the airlines.
@MrMegaSneg Im sure West did steal East technology when possible. Planes want 1 of them. Which country pioneered the Jet engine. Which country built first passenger jet ? Britain was world leader at that time so what could thery steal. Sure Tu144 was expensive but seeings how USSR could afford Space travel they had much more funds. Delta wing wasnt used by soviets. Stolen technology. Anti lock brakes - attempted theft for parachute braking. Sergei Pavlov was caught with blueprints.
@Dookiedolf Outer space exploration - that only thing, on what was necessary to stake. Both for the sake of prestige, and for the sake of the future. And the USSR spent for it huge money to the detriment of well-being of people. Aircraft - another matter. Hasn't worked-have forgotten. If we only stole technologies, instead of thought out something, we wouldn't have one of the best in the world of aviation workings out and aircraft as a whole.
@MrMegaSneg TU-144 was technically fail, it was rushed as soviets wanted to be first with supersonic jet. They were, but TU-144 had failures on almost every flight and was very unreliable when compared to Concorde.

@Pvjinflight look, the planes only faults where, the fact that they couldn't find good enough engines, and that it wasn't practical at the time, again because of the engines, other then that it was fine, and that crash happened in the Paris air show due to the fact that french mirage came over tu-144 and the pilots maneuvered to avoid a collision, which caused the plane to pitch sharply down, because the plane went 90 degrees down it couldnt take the stress, the concorde would have been the same

Concord didn't die, it aswell as the 144, the SR71 Blackbird & the Hoverlloyd SRN4 Hovercraft, all 21st century technology built in the 60's & all maintained & upgraded, still ahead of their time & the only reason they stopped using them? Fuel prices due to the barons & all there middle men screwing the west.
The Tu-144 is just a worst copy of Concorde and yes he make is first flight before the concorde because he was made quicker but this airplane can't reach mach 2.2 without afterburner (the concorde can reach mach 2.2 without afterburner) and with AB tupolev can't had a trip london new york !
And finally he haven't got a "real" flight with civilian passengers
@edtk99 Concorde`s top speed is limited to mach 2.02, due the temperature the fuselage can reach, Tupolev had cruise speed of mach 2.17(?) and mach 2.35 top speed
God damn, you must be a russian, one who goes off about mother country and better then anyone else. The Tu-144 was crap and the Russians knew it, that's why they THEMSELVES grounded the plane. The Concorde was the perfect plane. It was costly, but it never had a crash due to it's own problems like the Tu-144 would have had. Everyone knows the specs of the concorde were amazing, and everyone also knows, even the Russians, that the Concorde was the better plane

@szpirogyra The boeing XB-70 is why the Tu-144 even existed

@szpirogyra
The Tu-144 was very noisy and I don't think passengers would appreciate having to wear earmuffs the entire flight.

Concord didn't die, it aswell as the 144, the SR71 Blackbird & the Hoverlloyd SRN4 Hovercraft, all 21st century technology built in the 60's & all maintained & upgraded, still ahead of their time & the only reason they stopped using them? Fuel prices due to the barons & all there middle men screwing the west.

it looks more like a concord to me.

USA would have had an SST but the green types of that day had it cancelled.
The kind who now days would be hollering about myths such as polar caps melting or man made global heating.

first flight Tu-144 - 31 December 1968
first flight Concorde - only 2 March 1969
technically it is absolutely different planes
Тu-144 are more perfect
Vyun1969 1 year ago 55
@Vyun1969 u r right/ but too expensive to use
ra8791 1 year ago
@Vyun1969 No !
And finally he haven't got a "real" flight with civilian passengers
edtk99 1 year ago
@edtk99 Concorde`s top speed is limited to mach 2.02, due the temperature the fuselage can reach, Tupolev had cruise speed of mach 2.17(?) and mach 2.35 top speed

@Vyun1969 The Tu-144 was made with plans stolen from Concorde. However, Tupolev missed out vital plans in their copy which resulted in it crashing.

@Vyun1969 Your on this video too?
God damn, you must be a russian, one who goes off about mother country and better then anyone else. The Tu-144 was crap and the Russians knew it, that's why they THEMSELVES grounded the plane. The Concorde was the perfect plane. It was costly, but it never had a crash due to it's own problems like the Tu-144 would have had. Everyone knows the specs of the concorde were amazing, and everyone also knows, even the Russians, that the Concorde was the better plane
