@Hoi4o definetly one of the best of season 2, alongside with "valley of darkness" and my favourite 2 episodes of the entire series, "resurrection ship, part 1 and 2"
Well, it was exactly the other way around - the centurion chef said one day "Screw this, I wanna do what I want!" and then the First Cylon War happened...
Scar was a cowardly Bully ! He made it a point to seek out the inexperienced pilots all in the name of racking up kills. A sound strategy to an extent yet not a true test of skill. As many young as he killed I hope he died 10 times more for each one. I hope the violent and horrid memories of his termination and re-spawnings tore at him just as the loss all the parents and loved ones of those young jocks must have felt. Death is a release Scar did not deserve....
@deguello66 Well, you could say that he was just a soldier doing his damned job. And soldier's job is not to 'prove his skill" in fair and equal matches; it's to win the war.
Did you not even watch the series? He didn't kill in the name of racking up kills (which ironically, is what Pegasus pilots did), he killed to SURVIVE. He was cut off and stuck there, without a rezship.
@BloodiestMargie ATTENTION! You have been identified as a c y l o n(Cybernetic Life-Form Node) and will be terminated on contact by Colonial Forces under Admiral Lee Adama. Frakin skinjobs! lol jk don't ya miss the show ><
@Coraxuss The Resurrection Hub is the centerpoint of resurrection technology. It's always on the move, due to security concerns. There is only one of it.
Resurrection ships connect via the resurrection hub, and provide resurrection technology for all Cylons within range of it.
The Resurrection Ship attached to the pursuit fleet was destroyed by the Galactica and Pegasus, long before this episode.
Yeah, I know well about the Resurrection ships and the Resurrection Hub, what I wanted to know was whether or not this Scar episode came before or after the episode where the Colonials and the Cylon rebels destroyed to Resurrection Hub after rescuing #3.
....Scar was the Cylon Raider, Correct? the one that everyone kept trying to kill? I don't think the Raiders were sentient yet...that was more season four, if I remember right.....
That's a very interesting take on Scar. I've always felt that Scar was somehow meant to describe Kara's state of mind as well. Who is more "scarred"? Kara who left Anders and so much behind and is in complete disarray? Or the cylon raider dying over and over again?
I must admit I hadnt thought of it that way,Tho that scene in their dogfight where Kara and Scar are just going head on towards each other made me think that Kara was on the verge of total burnout.
@BlackValkyire I always thought that scar`s tactical skill came from the way he adapted and evolved to new tactical situations, surely such innovation would be beyond a creature that is not sentient?Whereas the centurians will just advance into a hail of fire, brave but not smart.
@ajb7876 The Centurions had their higher functions limited by the skinjobs. The Raiders were built with their higher functions intact. This is what ultimately led to the civil war.
In "Six of One", after the Raiders showed signs of free will, the Twos, the Sixes, and the Eights with the exception of Boomer voted against a decision to reconfigure the Raiders, considering it an act of lobotomy. Outvoted, they removed the inhibitor modules from the Centurions that restrict higher functions, granting the Centurions independent thought.
@BlackValkyire No, the Raiders did NOT have inhibitor chips. They had free will, but were also more like dogs or horses in terms of intelligence. In Season 4, they decide of their own accord to call off the attack on the colonials because they recognize Anders as a friendly. That's what led to the civil war.
@Olmelliah .maybe, but how much war can any intelligent creature take? Imagine a soldier in the hell of the First World war trenches or the Battle of Stalingrad, knowing that this was to be the sum of their entire existence, never knowing anything else but war and death and misery, for all time, even getting killed is no escape because you just come back and have to continue.
How long before you go out of your mind and just want it to end?
@Spadon7 It sure as hell can get tired. Being able to download doesn't mean the raiders didn't feel. They had a brain, and brains mean a neural processor, meaning feelings are guaranteed. Therefore, it can be tired and it can be traumatized. How they react to the trauma and the tiresomeness may not be the same way we do, but it's there nonetheless.
@ajb7876 Scar was the ship which had been captured by Starbuck. That's why it was fighting with such vengeance, seemed to have it in for Starbuck and knew her flying style so well. Imagine the hatred you'd feel if someone crawled inside your head, cut out your brain then forced you to fight against your own people.

Theres something about that portion of the song and the scene it accompanied in the episode that speaks volumes about the undeniable quality of true love. Its almost forced out of you like a truth youd rather deny. During Michael Jackson's memorial, lots of people spoke about how muched they love him. Paris Jackson's was the most unimpeachable and rang truest to me and reminded me of the particular portion of this song.
Catchy phrase...but it's bullshit. We'll have to know how to build a complete human being (and I don't mean the old-fashioned way) before we could do anything approaching a BSG cylon.

The only remaining cylon and Starbuck fought each other but then slowly were becoming friends..until the cylon was destroyed at the end, when he sacrificed for Starbuck!! It was one of the few better episodes of the old show. Well - in "Scar" only the duel btw. Starbuck and "Scar" was similar to the old episode..
