I can't get tired of Nightwish's version of this song, god. It's like it's got a beautiful intro, very calm. And from 3:11 to the end it's like Nemo's ending, and incredible orchestra part, and after this a last chorus with Anette singing high and an orchestra with her ;)

I know it's not theirs, that is why they asked permission, they didn't "take." All rights went to the owners. As for High Hopes, it's a good song, I know it was a Pink Floyd cover, and I really don't have any sort of opinion about who does it better. Like I said, Nightwish didn't take, artists have to ask before they do covers.

@xoulang You have to treat this song as a separate version. The purpose of cover songs is not to be compared to the original version. Nor is it supposed to upstage the original either. The idea is to reinvent the song in a new and different direction. I'm sure you will have reservations about this version seeing as you seem very passionate about Nyman's work (my observation).

If you check out Anette's blog (find it off of her profile on NW site) she posted an entry about the song. Apparently a reader posted a few comments with emails between her and Michael's agent where in the end he has approved the song. So Anette has sent them to Tuomas and King Foo Entertainment who has contacted the agent. That's all that's known at the moment. (crosses fingers .. I'm so excited!
As much as I'd love this to be released and am disappointed Mr Nyman doesn't want it to be released, as a songwriter I can sympathise - if someone took one of my songs and turned it into something I didn't like in the least then I wouldn't want them to release it, no matter how much people wanted me to. Songs are a very personal thing to the writers, so I think its not really right for people to criticise them for being a little sensitive about cover versions.
