@CRAZYSNIPES80: On the Southern Pacific locomotives (the red and grey ones), the color around the engine number on the side of the cab is yellow. The number was patched on top of the SP colors, hence the nickname "patched".
I have not lived in Colorado Springs since 1982. Are UP, SP and the new BNSF paint scheme engines all running through Colorado Springs now? AMAZING VIDEO!!!
@jointlinerailfan: That's cool the conductor and the stuffed animal are regulars. I caught the Nixon train again when I visited the area in September.
Great video, some awesome catches there. Wsill have to find a motel in Cimarron next time I'm there, looks like some great noise roaring through there! Recognise the D&RGW depot, had the same caboose with some SP power when I was there. Love the teddy bear at the start and the matched SP helpers :-)
Nice video! Love the ES44C4 especially. Where in Colorado Springs did you film at? Amtrak Station, railyard? Where? Seems like a good place to see UP and BNSF.
It's at the old Rio Grande depot downtown. There are some sidings there where UP like to park their power. No Amtrak trains in Colorado Springs currently.
just south of this spot there is a siding that goes up the hill and there is an old ATSF station that was at the head of the line that went east from the Springs.
The UP set in the background is power from the coal delivery to the power plant downtown. They push the new stuff in and pick up the empties.
I've always caught the coal train on the way to the Centennial PPCC campus lol. cool

I can't get enough of that GE sound. According to my list of UP locomotives, though, there isn't a 6902. :-/
AndreiTupolev 2 years ago
Used to be C60AC 7515, and it was very recently converted to C6044AC and renumbered to 6902, a number used by a DDA40X decades ago.
